Chapter 5

Holy crap... I know you.

My mind went blank. I felt a rush of emotions fill my brain as I looked at Damien. He was a beautiful specimen to look at, to say the least. His hair was pitch black with hints of brown highlights and was slicked back naturally. A few stands fell down onto his face. His eyes were a piercing blue, almost like the color of ice. His left eye had a faint violet lung going through the blue. His cheek bones weren't very chiseled but they were still very noticeable. His figure was like a model, tone but not too muscular. His shoulders were wide and held back with confidence. He wore a pitch black suit with a white shirt underneath it. He was also tall, a little taller than Quinton.

"Yes, Lucia. You know me. It's nice to see you again." He smiled kindly at me. His teeth barely showing from his pink lips. I couldn't even see a hint of his elongated teeth. I remembered him; he came to visit Toby at the bar every once in a while. I never paid much attention to him though. However, I always knew when he was there. His strong smell and beautiful face were easy to recognize.

"Yeah, it's uhh... nice to see you." I internally rolled my eyes at my awkward actions. "Are you Toby's alpha? Or am I just pushing too much into that topic?" Damien laughed as he started to came around his desk. His gait was strong and confident. I felt like I was staring so I looked around his office. The room was decorated in dark oak furniture and maroon walls. A window behind his desk was letting in natural light since the curtains were being held back by a clip on the wall. It was an antique looking room but was beautiful none the less.

"Yes, I'm Toby's alpha. He's a warrior for our pack. He's told me many things about you." I tore my gaze from the light in the window back to his face. He had made it to the front of his desk. His figure was truly beautiful. His chest slimmed down towards his waist and his legs were long and strong. His suit fit perfectly on him. His body leaned on the front of his desk, and he was keeping eye contact with me. He crossed his arms over his chest while keeping a small smile on his face.

"I hope they're all good things?" I laughed awkwardly and shrugged my shoulders. I was trying my best to keep myself out of the trace he had put on me.

"Believe me, they are wonderful things. Toby was actually the one that wanted us to create this plan. He knew the danger you were in and reached out to me for help." His smile never left his face, and soon I smelt a wonderful smell. It was his cologne, and I felt like I could get high off of it. It smelt like cotton candy, vanilla and some other smell I couldn't pick out. I tried to keep from inhaling deeply.

"That definitely sounds like Toby... He's overprotective of me." I looked down at the floor before our eye contact got too awkward.

"He's definitely protective, but in this case it was for the best. You are his closest friend after all." I noticed a slight growl come from him as he choked out the last sentence. I nodded while keeping my eyes to the ground.

"Well, I'll let Quinton take you back to your room. However, we'll meet tomorrow and build a plan of how we're going to keep you safe." I looked up to his face again to find a friendly expression on Damien's face.

"Thank you." I smiled and looked down towards the ground again.

I then felt a hand on my back and looked over to see it was Quinton's. He pushed me forward a little. I didn't understand until I looked in front of me to see Damien's outstretched hand. I muttered an apology for leaving him hanging and shook his hand gently. Sparks ran up from my hand to my arm and made butterflies arise in my stomach. I pulled my hand back as quick as possible, and then I crossed my arms across my chest. I felt awkward since I was having romantic feelings arise towards someone I just met formally.

"Thank you for this. I really appreciate it. I still don't understand why or what is happening but..." A laugh came from both Quinton and Damien.

"You don't have to thank us, Lucia. It's our job to protect our packs loved ones and friends." I smiled and nodded my head while keeping my gaze to the ground.

"Well, I'll take Lucia back to her room now. It's been a long, eventful day." I internally thanked Quinton for saving me and nodded in compliance. I took one last glance at Damien to find his gaze locked to mine. I smiled slightly at his form that was still leaning against his desk. I turned around to find Quinton opening the door and motioned me out. I quickly started down the hall while Quinton caught up.

"I will thank you for the rest of my days for that." I shook my head as my face turned red. Quinton started dying with laughter beside me.

"I figured I needed to do something. I didn't want that to go on too long." I sighed and laughed in embarrassment.

"Yeah I got lucky that you were there because if you weren't I would've killed my self at the spot, and then this rescue operation would be for nothing."

"My goodness, Lucia. Are you a drama queen much?" I giggled and slapped his shoulder. I looked up to his brown eyes that were shining with happiness.

"Shut up, asshole. You know what's really weird?" I questioned him while keeping eye contact. His brows lowered in confusion.

"What?" He ask.

"It's like we've known each other for years... we get along like old friends. It's kinda weird." His expression turned from confused to happy.

"I feel the same thing, Lucia. I think we just get along, which is a good thing. That way if you're upset, all you have to do is come find me, and I'll definitely make you smile." I relaxed my shoulders and smiled. I returned my gaze to the floor once again. I followed Quinton's footsteps all the way back to my new room.

"Thank you, Quinton. I'll see you tomorrow." I said to him as I stepped inside my room. He stood in the doorway and nodded.

"I'll see you tomorrow, Lucia. If you need anything just send me a text." I nodded and figured that he had put his number in my phone somehow. I smiled as he walked off and I shut the door.

Before I knew it I had flopped on my bed. My brain spun with the events of the day, and I didn't even notice that I had dozed off.
