Chapter 4
"Did I just hear you correctly?" I looked at him in shock and a little bit of horror.
"I don't know. Did you?" He raised a mocking brow at me.
"Oh hell no. Take me home, right now." I started shaking. I was a regular human, I couldn't exist here without getting into trouble.
"There's too many wolves here... and vampires. I'll get killed!" My own squeaky voice made me cringe.
"You're safe, Lucia. You don't have to worry about them. If they go against bosses wishes they'll be killed. His wishes is that you be left alone and no one is allowed to touch you other than me or him."
"Why just you two? That's a little creepy..." Quinton sighed at my words.
"Neither of us will do anything to you. I'm your new body guard and boss is, possibly, your new server of justice."
"Well, if you guys think I'm going to give you big hugs whenever this is over, you're wrong." I huffed as the car finally came to a stop.
"We're not expecting anything from you when this is over, darling. But you do have to think about what could happen while your here."
"I don't want to think about it. I don't want to find a mate anytime soon." I opened my door, signaling Quinton to drop the subject. I knew what could happen when I'm around all these werewolves and vampires.
"Well come on." Quinton appeared next to me with my stuff and closed my door for me. He seemed slightly angry now, but I walked behind him to the front doors of the mansion.
I looked behind me one last time to see the darkened sky and trees surrounding the property. Though all the people had disappeared from the lawn. Then with a big breath I turned back around and headed into the mansion.
Words couldn't explain the beauty of the building. It had literally been carved into perfection. Lights lined the walls of the grand entrance that led to two wings of the building. Once Quinton finally stopped at a room in the left wing, he opened the door and motioned me inside.
It was a large bedroom with a dresser and two doors. I guessed one was a bathroom and the other a closet. The walls were a dark maroon/red color with dark gray curtains. The trim was white and the comforter on the bed matched the curtains perfectly.
"I don't need a room this big..." I trailed off and looked back to Quinton who was now putting my stuff down in the room.
"Bullshit. You may not need it but we wanted you to have a room this big. It'll give you some space." He smiled kindly.
"Now, that door is the bathroom suite." He pointed to the door on the left of the room.
"And that one," he pointed at the door on the right of the room, "is your closet. Some outfits are already in there for you, so feel free to wear them. I'll excuse myself for now. I'm sure you'd like to get settled in." I nodded at him kindly as he bowed and left the room. I sighed and walked around the room. I looked in the bathroom and found it was way bigger than the one I had at home. It had a full bathtub, shower and all of the other necessities. I smiled and backed out and went to the closet. What I saw blew my mind.
The closet was split into sections. One section had casual clothes, such as jeans and t-shirts. The next section had casual dresses and skirts. Next there was cocktail party dresses that came in all shapes and colors. Then a section for all the shoes a woman could ask for. And lastly, a section held all sorts of ball gowns. Ones you would find celebrities wear at parties. I didn't need this much stuff, after all I'd only be here for a while.
"Lucia?" I heard Quinton's voice, so I stepped out of the closet and looked at him. He smiled.
"Boss would like to meet you. I know a lot of people are scared of him, but he's a big teddy bear so you have nothing to worry about." He laughed for the second time and it was the same as before. Throaty and happy.
"Well... I was never afraid of him. I've heard mixed opinions about him but his situation doesn't scare me... more like intrigues me." Once again Quinton burst out laughing.
"Well, he'll be pleased about hearing that someone isn't scared of him. C'mon, I'll show you the way to his office so he can explain a few things." I nodded and took out my gun from my pant line and laid it on the bedside table that I hadn't noticed before that moment. I then followed Quinton.
Even with the best photographic memory, you'd never memorize the way to Damien's office. Long corridors that looked just the same and I kept wondering why people would need this much extra space. Like seriously, what the hell do they do with it?
"I really hope that you'll show me back to my room because Jesus... this is way to much to remember."
"Don't say his name in vain, and yes, I'll take you back to your room." I smiled as we finally came to a large door made of maple wood. The door opener and a mans figure stood inside.
"Lucia, meet Damien. The Vampire Alpha." He turned around. My breath got stuck so my voice came out squeaky.
"Holy crap... I know you."
