Early Days

A white pikmin dashed across a room filled with hundreds of books. Some of these books were in stacks, messily across the whole room whilst others were on bookshelves.
"He's not coming. Don't worry, Lucy!" She told herself whilst cautiously looking around. In her hand was a bookmarked copy of, what appeared to be, 'The Values of Brick'. She needed to learn more, after all. After looking around one last time, she slipped out the bookmark and opened the book to the first page...

04:45, the 11th day, of the 2nd month of what is known as 'Year 1', or the year that Olimar fell. I, of course, was not part of the action, because it certainly didn't take 2 months to save him. No, the time I have just shared with you was the time of which I was plucked from the ground. I distinctly remember my 'brother' telling me, "You're in the big game now. It's called life."

I was born in a community known as 'The Tribe'. Most would agree that purples, which I am included in, arrived in 'year 2', but I would have to disagree with them there. Actually, we've always been around, hidden away inside of The Tribe. The Tribe was a beautiful place; there were many purple pikmin as we had the purple onion. In fact, there were all kinds of pikmin. This included Dave: the left out pikmin.
In my first two years - which was before the training begun - I had valued nature and friendship as very important concepts and so I befriended Dave. I didn't want him to feel left out from anything you see; I hated the idea of anyone being in pain. As we began to learn about one another, he told me about who he was.

Before Year 1 had began there were supposedly many Polkadot Pikmin. He told me, with a sad tone, that they were particularly distracting to most creatures on the planet. One day Dave ran with two of his friends to try hide escape from the terrible creatures of this planet when they, unfortunately, came across an orange bulborb. In the panic, they all went in different the to avoid the bulborb, but he knew that the others didn't make it. For protection, he crawled into a bush. Eventually, he found his way through the bush and into The Tribe. At this moment,  he became one of us. He was 20 years of age when he reached The Tribe, apparently, but age wasn't really addressed too much in The Tribe.

I and Dave became good friends, me being the charming young purple pikmin who looked at everything in the nicest of lights and him being the tactical genius. Along the way, we also made a few other friends!

• There was Valentino, a white pikmin. He was always the one to be either mopey or over the top cheerful, encouraging Dave when he was down.

• There was also Queenie, the winged pikmin. She was the youngest of us, only being plucked near the end of 'Year 2'. She was pretty laid back.

•There was also a yellow pikmin called Wallace. Now I know what you're thinking! Yes, he is the Wallace that you will already know about for all the terrible things he's tried to pull off. He was a very close and comforting friend at this point in my life. All the bad stuff came later.

• And finally, the main brains behind our squad was Whisper, another white pikmin. She mainly kept to herself, but had a very high intelligence. Most of us did, really.

• There was also Owen the Rock Pikmin, but he wasn't always around and tended to stick with his own kind. I'm not even sure that everyone would have considered him a member of our group. He only really was around for a short time during Year 2, but I thought he was cool. Too cool for us, I suppose.

We we a happy group of individuals and what the 'King of The Tribe' called a fine group of pikmin. We called ourselves 'Dave's Tribe' because, remember, all this was for Dave.

When 'Year 3' started, The Tribe's prophet, someone who had never failed us in telling the truth before, said words which will forever be stuck in my mind. I remember how shocked and scared this made me feel for the first time in my life inside The Tribe.

"In only a few years time, war will break out. We cannot risk keeping away from this war because we will become pikmanity's only hope. We are much more powerful than the other pikmin and so could really turn the war around for them. Additionally, without their help, I fear that we will not be able to save ourselves. I am telling you this from the word of of our gods above." Everyone began to freak out immediately throughout The Tribe. We were terrified. We had no one in our group who wanted to or thought they could become a fierce warrior.

This would soon be changed. That year, we began to train. We fought each other for practice, and Whisper tried to find an effective fighting strategy. From this point, we were never joined by Owen for good. Nothing would ever have been the same again.

The white pikmin looked over her shoulder. A shadow loomed over her. She'd got too engrossed in the book. She leaped for an exit, but she was caught. Struggling to say something, she sighed for failing. She was dragged away. Fortunately, she still had a book to read.
