Chapter 17

The heat around me caused me to force my eyes open. Sunlight shone down on me as I squinted my eyes to figure out where I was.

Seth was sleeping next to me with his arm over his eyes.

Seth. The kiss.

I instantly sat upright. My fingers touched my lower lip gently. What's this supposed to mean? Do I pretend that it didn't happen?

Realizing that we aren't supposed to be here, I began panicking. Grabbing Seth's arm, I shook it violently to wake him up.

"What the-" he mumbled and peeked up at me through his lashes.

"We need to go before someone catches us," I said urgently, standing up.

"What is going on?" he asked, sitting up groggily.

"We fell asleep," I explained, outstretching my hand towards him.

His dark hair had grains of sand in them which made me conscious as to how to my hair looked. It probably resembled a bird's nest. He clasped his hand in mine and stood up, letting all his weight onto my arm. I lost my balance, resulting in his arm to slide around my back as a reflex to steady me.

All of a sudden, my body was pressed to his and I looked up to meet his eyes. My gaze dropped to his plump, pink lips and the memories of last night came rushing back to me like the waves rushing to the shore of the beach. I averted my gaze quickly and looked up to meet his eyes again.

Damn it, he had noticed me staring at his lips. I had expected him to smirk or give me a smug cool or make a smartass comment but instead, all I got was silence in return.

Taking a step back from him, I pulled away and sunk my feet in the sand.

"We should go," I mumbled.

"Yeah," he agreed and started walking.

For some reason, as we walked back in silence, I felt like I was walking the Walk of Shame. Not that I've done it before but if I were to ever walk the Walk of Shame, I think it would be pretty similar to what we were doing right now.

It was taking everything in me to not look at him. I didn't want to try and decipher what he was thinking or feeling with the dull expression on his face.

A few minutes later, we reached his trailer stopped. I finally looked up at him and then, the awkward phase began. His deep brown eyes studied my face. He was doing the same thing I was trying to do on the beach. He wanted to know what I was thinking about the kiss.

I glanced at the door of the trailer. What do we do now? Do I hug him? Do I kiss him?

Even the end of our first date was better than this.

"Bye then," I said quickly and walked off, not giving him a second glance.

I heard him mumble a 'bye' but I kept walking at a fast pace till I heard the door to his trailer shut.

Once I reached my trailer, I opened the already unlocked door and shut it behind me as I leaned on it and let out a breath of relief, shutting my eyes and letting my shoulders sag.

That moment of relief didn't last long because Kyla's shrill voice decided to take it away from me.

"Where on earth were you? Do you have any idea how worried we have been and how many times we called your dumb phone? Who told you that it was a wise decision to leave the trailer in the middle of the night without telling any of us?"

I just stared at her and waited for her to get over her motherly scolding. Even Carla was surprised at her outburst.

After I was certain that Kyla was finished, I made my way to my bed and sat down.

"Well?" Kyla prodded, expecting a reply.

"I was with Seth," I said.

She actually gasped in response but I was more concerned about what Carla's reaction was. She was sitting on her bed with pursed lips. Not a good sign.

"Did you guys-"

"What, no!" I cut her off before she could even finish that sentence.

"He kissed me," I mumbled.

"What?" Kyla exclaimed, bouncing to sit up straighter and making the bed creak under her weight.

"Did you kiss him back?" she asked, eager.

I slowly looked up at Carla to see her jaws locked as if she was...angry? Was she?

"Yes," I muttered.

He totally regrets it, though, I added to myself.

"Oh my god," Kyla squealed as she stood up on her knees.

If Kyla breaks her bed and Mrs. Delia assumes it was 'damage' from the pranks, I am not going to be a happy person.

"Does this mean the two of you are the new, hot couple now?" she asked, smirking and gasped, realising something. "We can go on double dates!

"No!" I exclaimed. "It was just a kiss."

She shrugged. "It still means you'll be the new, hot couple soon."

"It was nothing," I said. "Do not make a big deal out of it."

"Whatever you say," she sang in response.

"I'm going to shower," Carla said suddenly and made her way to the bathroom.

That's when Kyla decided to acknowledge Carla's presence and slowly turned her head to look with at me with a guilty look in her eyes.

Too late

As we were walking towards the dining area, I was freaking out internally. It's going to be so awkward, which will make Kyla think something is up and she will question me as to why Seth and I are ignoring each other.

I don't know, Kyla. Why don't you go ask him? He's the one who kissed me and then decided to go hide inside his shell.

The guys were already seated in our usual spot and after getting our food, we joined them. I sat on the opposite end to Seth. Being near him would just make things worse.

Kyla leaned into me and whispered, "Go sit next to him."

I glared at her in response, which caused her to scowl.

Breakfast today was quite tasty. Food will always be the answer to all my problems.

After everyone was done with breakfast, Mrs. Delia asked everyone to huddle around and briefed them on today's activities.

"As all of you know, today is the last day here. We will be leaving tomorrow morning. I hope all of you have had a good time so far," she began, holding her notepad close to her chest. "Today, we will be going jungle trekking so I expect all of you to have dressed appropriately."

I looked at Kyla and Carla, who were wearing short, summer dresses.

"Follow Ms. Ella when you're ready," she said, nodding at Ms. Ella. "As for the people I talked to yesterday near the girl's trailer, I would like to speak to you."

Kyla and I exchanged a look and then made our way to where Mrs. Delia was waiting for us, ignoring the way everyone else was staring at us.

"Now, I have made myself clear on the fact that I am very upset with the mischief that has been going on amongst all of you," she began once everyone was huddled around her. "Like I said before, you are to not be a part of any of the activities so I expect you to stay here and help the crew do the dishes and clean up."

Kyla turned to look at me with raised eyebrows. I shrugged in response; there really was nothing we could do.

"Any questions?" she asked when none of said anything. After a moment of silence, she nodded and began walking away.

"Do the dishes?" Carla exclaimed as soon as she left. "I don't even do the dishes in my own house! Why would I want to wash the filthy dishes here?"

"Don't worry, I'll do your share of the dishes," Seth said with a smirk.

I rolled my eyes. Does he ever leave an opportunity to flirt?

"I agree with Kyla," Kian said. "I'll end up having prune fingers!"

"If both of you divas are done throwing your tantrum, let's get to work," Derrick said, making me smirk.

Everyone began walking away, leaving us behind to do dishes. Yay.

*

Around midday, we were done and were sitting at the dining area. The people of the crew were actually really nice and felt bad for making us do work so Carla and Kian got an excuse to get away with the work.

It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It would've been better if it wasn't so hot.

Gathering my hair, I rolled it up and held it away from my neck as I fanned my neck with my hand. I looked up to see Seth watching me. The second our eyes met, he looked away, embarrassed that he'd been caught looking. That was so unlike Seth.

"This sucks," Mason said, lying down on the table and shielding his eyes from the sun.

"It does," Kyla responded. "If it makes you feel any better, I'm sorry on our behalf for starting the pranks."

"Yeah," I agreed. "We didn't expect it to go this far."

"It's okay," Derrick said with a shrug. "We did some nasty pranks too. Besides, it was fun."

"You know what we should do?" Seth said, suddenly springing upright from excitement.

"What?" Carla asked, interested all of a sudden.

"We should prank the teacher's trailer," he said.

Mason, Kyla and I laughed in unison but when there was no trace of humor on Seth's face, we realized he was being serious.

"Do you want us to get expelled from school?" Derrick questioned.

"We won't," he said. "They'll never find out who did it."

"Right, we get caught for pranks and when the teacher's trailer gets pranked, we're obviously going to be the last people on the list of suspects," Kyla said sarcastically.

"No, but we can always deny it," Seth reasoned. "As long as they have no evidence or proof that we did it, we can get away with it."

Not going to lie, it did sound tempting. All of us had played pretty good pranks on one another. Together, I have no idea what we could come up with. The 'we' obviously excludes Carla because she's useless.

"We have so much free time on our hands right now, we could plan it and figure everything out," he continued when nobody had any objections.

Kyla looked at me, her eyes asking me if this was a good idea.

"How much more trouble could we get into anyway?" I said, causing Derrick's head to whip around and stare at me with raised eyebrows. I shrugged. "It could be fun."

After a moment's silence, Kyla spoke up, "Fine, let's do it."

A/N- Hahahah yes all of them will get expelled soon..Just kidding :p

Did you enjoy the chapter? Yes, Seth is being weird but the kiss was unexpected buthe at least they kiss so there's still hopeee.

I recently finished reading a book called It's Kind of a Funny Story and it was such a nice book. A different perspective for depression. If you have the time to, you should definitely read it.

Anyway,  hope you enjoyed the chapter. Please leave a vote and comment letting me know what you thought about the chapter.

Thank you! Love you guys! <3
