Chapter 14

Kyla and I were early to breakfast today since we didn't bother waiting for Carla to apply an endless amount of make-up products. That was only because I told Kyla that I didn't want to wait. She was being very patient by not questioning what was up but I'm also waiting very patiently for her to pounce at me and make me spill everything.

Nothing was actually going on but it was just that even Carla's presence seemed to irritate me. I refused to sit and think about it to question myself as to why I feel this way.

Eventually, Princess Carla approached our table and joined us. Honestly, why does she even sit with us? She has her own friends.

Probably cause of Seth.

The two of them engaged in a conversation that I had no interest in. A few minutes later, Kian arrived and he did not look happy. He smacked his palm on our table, grabbing our attention.

"What you guys did," he started, angry. "Not cool."

I shrugged, taking a bite of my toast. "You should've seen it coming."

"Actually, I did see it coming." We turned around to see Seth with his arms in the pockets of his sweatpants. "But I didn't expect all of you to go that far. Do you know how wet out trailer is and how long it's going to take to clean everything?"

"Not to mention, all our things are wet too," Kian added.

"What is going on?" Carla interrupted; making me shut my eyes in annoyance. Gosh, can she stay out of this? She's not a part of us.

"Aw, look how worked up you are," I cooed, ignoring Carla entirely. "Accept defeat and this ends right here."

Seth laughed mockingly and said, "Babe, your pranks are amateur compared to what I've done in the past. If anything, you should accept defeat."

"Well, looks like our prank war will continue then," I said, shooting him a sweet smile.

"I think so," Seth responded.

"Oh, by the way, Kian," Kyla said, just as they were about to leave. "Tell Derrick that I want to watch the video in his phone."

Kian didn't say anything in response, clearly pissed at us, which made me want to burst out laughing since Kian's anger was similar to a three year throwing a tantrum over a piece of candy. It was adorable.

Once they left, I did burst out laughing. "I would love to see their trailer right now."

"I know right!" Kyla agreed.

"What is going on?" Carla repeated, making my laugher dissipate.

Kyla began telling her the story while I sat there, staring at Carla.

We were going to be going to a hot springs today. If I didn't have a broken foot, I would've been excited. Now, I wasn't as thrilled to enter a hot springs. I had no intention whatsoever to slip and fall while limping and permanently damaging my foot.

Kyla had changed into a tight, grey bikini that contrasted with her grey eyes exceptionally well. We were sitting on a deck while Mrs Delia waited for everyone to change. She had managed to take Derrick's phone from him and we were about to watch the video.

She pressed the play button and we skimmed through hours of footage before we reached the morning when they finally woke up. Kian was the first one to wake up. He stretched his arms over his head and got off the bed. As his feet touched the floor, unaware, he lost his balance and grabbed onto the bed next to his. Looking down, he cursed out loud.

All of this commotion caused Seth to groan and get out of bed. Just like Kian, he lost balance but instead of steadying himself, he fell. Literally fell to the floor, which made me laugh uncontrollably. He got up with drenched clothes.

Mason and Derrick, the lucky ones, stayed on bed and observed the scene.

"This is ridiculous! How are we supposed to clean this mess?" Mason exclaimed, peering down.

"If Mrs Delia decides to come for a surprise inspection, we are going to be screwed," Derrick added. Then, he patted around his bed, looking for something.

"Is that what you're looking for?" Kian asked, pointing at the camera.

"I knew I shouldn't have given Kyla my password," Derrick grumbled and grabbed his phone, causing the video to end abruptly.

Kyla and I sat there laughing loudly, attracting the attention of people around us but I couldn't care less. This was priceless.

"Send that video to me before Derrick decides to delete it," I said, wiping the corner of my eye to get rid of the tear that had escaped from laughing. "I don't even know why he kept it in the first place, he could've deleted it."

She sent it to me and we sat there for a while before Mrs Delia called everyone. Sighing, I laid down on the deck with my feet dangling off. I stared up at the clear, blue sky which only had a few feather-like clouds. The weather was surprisingly pleasant with the trees swaying softly, giving off a cool breeze.

Of course, that didn't last very long because my vision of the beautiful sky was suddenly taken over by the big, obnoxious head of Seth Riley. The complexion of his face was dark while the light surrounding him became blinding.

Groaning, I sat upright, ignoring him. I heard him sigh loudly and then sit down next to me. He was still in his grey sweatpants and a loose white t-shirt.

Why was he here? Didn't he have Carla to attend to?

"I didn't expect you to be the silent treatment kind of girl," he said out loud, breaking the oh-so sweet silence. "Not going to lie, I thought you would've argued with me and eventually pushed me off the deck to break a limb or two."

I felt a small smile forcing on my face but I supressed it because I didn't want to give him the satisfaction.

"You don't have to be here, you know," I said, still looking at my lap.

"I know," he said and I could see him shrug from the corner of my eye.

Silence, again.

"You look surprisingly pretty," he commented. "Just like the night on our first date."

I was wearing a white dress with pastel coloured floral prints on it. I had borrowed it from Kyla since I didn't want to pull any pants over my ankle; it was clearly something I wouldn't own. My brunette hair was lose over my shoulders in messy waves and I had soft, white flip flops on.

This was the second time Seth had seen me in a dress after the date, which Kyla had helped me, or rather forced me to dress up for.

I didn't respond to what he said.

I wasn't exactly sure why I was being so rude to him considering that what he did was a genuine mistake but all my piled up frustration was being taken out on him.

He exhaled through his nose loudly. "Look, Ava," he started and reached for my hand, clasping it between the two of his warm ones. "I don't know what I did that has made you so angry but I'm sorry, okay? I would never want to intentionally hurt you. Please just stop behaving this way and forgive me for whatever stupid thing I've done."

My first response was to take my hand out of his grasp. Then, I finally looked up at him to see how genuine he was with his brown eyes scanning my face desperately. I was oddly mesmerized by how his eyes looked a shade lighter under the sunlight.

Sighing, I said, "You didn't actually do anything, Seth. I'm just...I don't know but it shouldn't matter. I'm fine now."

A small smile etched out on his face. "Okay."

I nodded, not knowing what to say. I looked away to see what everyone was doing to catch Carla staring at us. She didn't even seem fazed by the fact that I caught her.

"So," I started. "What did Carla and you do last night?"

He shrugged. "Nothing much, just caught up on our lives. It was quite fun actually."

"Cool," I deadpanned.

"Just to let you know," he said, making me look at him. "My heartfelt speech to you doesn't make me want to get revenge on you for that prank any less."

I grinned and stuck my tongue at him. "Good luck trying."

"Thank you," Seth said in a posh tone and then, pinched the tip of my nose.

My eyebrows pulled in together and my eyes awkwardly tried to look at his fingers and then back at him. Um, what was he doing? He pulled back a moment later, completely unfazed by my reaction to what he did.

I stood up shakily and tried to find my balance. Seth instantly got up and held my arm to help me steady myself. I honestly don't know if I was enjoying him being this touchy to me in the past ten minutes or less.

"Where are you going?" he asked, sliding his arm around my back. I cleared my throat awkwardly. Why is he doing this?

"I can walk, Seth," I said and wiggled out of his hold.

"Not very well, though," he objected, pressing his lips together cutely.

"That's not a problem as long as I get from one point to another safely," I countered, beginning to walk.

"Then I'll just use your limping state an excuse to wrap my arm around you," he said, catching up and smoothly circling his arm around my lower back.

Surprisingly enough, I actually chuckled. There was no denying- he was charming and cute. I could see why Carla and an endless amount of other girls dated him.

"Where are we going?" he repeated his question from earlier, changing the pronoun.

I shrugged and pointed ahead. "Those trees are pretty. I'd like to sit there."

He followed my gaze and nodded. "They actually are. It's like autumn."

"I know right!" I agreed.

The tree was yellowing in places between the rich, green colour. The ground around the branch was surrounded by those leaves, making it look gorgeous.

We reached there a few moments later. Seth and I basically took a lovely evening stroll like a couple. That was not actually going to happen. Ever.

I stood under the shade of the tree, feeling a smile on my face. I always enjoyed the beauty of nature. It was a nice change from the city life.

I could still feel Seth's arm around me and turned around to look at him, which made him put his other arm around me as well, entangling his hands behind my back.

"You do realise we're not walking anymore," I commented, standing so close to him that I could make out the separation between each one of his eyelashes. He had pretty eyelashes.

"Mhm," he hummed in response.

"So you can let go of me," I suggested.

"Let me think about that for a minute," he said, pulling me even closer. I had no idea why I was letting this happen, I could just pull away if I wanted to. "Yeah, I don't think I'll be doing that anytime soon."

"I will," I countered playfully and wriggled out of his grasp, making him chuckle lightly.

I walked away from him and closer to the branch of the tree when a sudden breeze blew by causing more of the yellow leaves to fall on me. Smiling, I looked up and outstretched my right arm to see if I could catch a few falling leaves in my hand. Turning around, I saw Seth standing there with his phone in his hand.

"What are you doing?" I called out.

"You're going to thank me for this when you get an endless amount of likes on your Instagram, babe,"
he said.
