C24
I throw another stone into the lake and sigh. I've been sitting at the edge of the lake since morning, thinking about everything. It's a bright afternoon with everyone else still in class.
It's been three days since I woke up from my death bed, and thanks to Nurse Sharma telling the headmaster that I need to rest to regain my strength. The headmaster already told the teachers I was sick and won't be attending classes for some while, until I'm good as new. The truth is all strength returned the minutes I opened my eyes. I feel fine but I'm just using the days off to figure somethings out.
I haven't been able to stop thinking about what I saw in Arihmatheo's mind and what he said about Sabine and Eric being my biological parents. I know Arihmatheo is the last person I should trust because if I'm been honest I shouldn't believe anything that comes out of that man's mouth but I was in his mind. I saw Sabine and Eric. I know what I'm about to say doesn't make sense but those places and people we saw in his mind didn't look made up. They were real to me and I believe him. I've thought about it and I've asked myself, why? Why did Arihmatheo show me my parents? How did he know them? Because it was his memories and they wouldn't be a memory if he didn't live it. He knew them and that was probably how he knew who I was the first time we met.
I just wish there was a way for me to see him. He said we'd never see each other and I know he meant to say it. Leave it to Arihmatheo to stop a show with cliffhanger and disappear on you.
The headmaster suspects something. It's like he knew where I was because he's been extra attentive since I woke him. He may think I don't notice him watching me from a far. But I always know, just like I know he's been watching me since I came here. "Did anything happen when you were unconscious? Did you go anywhere or see anyone?" He asked me after I woke up. I wanted to ask why he was very specific about his questions but I didn't, I shook my head and went back to sleep. And he's been showing me that he has a stalker-like tendency behavior.
"I know you're there, headmaster," I voice out as I throw another stone into the lake, "you can come out and tell me what's on your mind instead of larking around the shadows like a ninja."
Footsteps approaches and my mind screams. Can't he just take a hint and leave me alone. I've been doing well not seeing anyone since I opened my eyes three days.
"How did you know I was here?" He asks as soon as he reaches me.
"You were hiding behind a tree." I remind him. It's not like the tree did any job in hiding him.
"Right. I won't be hiding behind a anymore." He says and takes a seat beside me.
"How about you stop hiding and just say what you have to say." There you have it, Dean Wallace.
I pick another stone and throw it up, I catch it before tossing it inside the lake. My hand drop to my side to pick another stone but feels nothing. I look down to see I've run out of stone to throw.
Great! Now I have to listen to him without distraction.
"Are you okay?" He asks after moments of silence that the only sound we're hearing is from the lake.
"Huh?" I wasn't expecting that. "I'm good."
I hear him sighs and notice him look at him from the corner of my eyes before saying, "I'm worried about you, Cami."
"Why? You have nothing to worry about."
"You've been spending too much time alone since you woke up. Do you want to talk to me about what happened?"
My answer won't change but I'm sure I can get something out of this.
"Oh I don't know, do you have answers to any of my questions?"
He chuckles. "What questions is that, Cami?"
I shoot him a look that literally translate what I'm thinking 'are you seriously going to play dumb?' before saying it.
"The spell that made me lose control." There's something about that spell, I swear I can't stop thinking about how I lost control that day.
"You are never going to let it go, are you?"
"Never." I answer and stare ahead at the calm lake, wishing I was more like this, calm and quiet.
"Fine. El-Laura-El has some darkness around her and it becomes more when she binds with her dragon. I thought having you say the spell would get you control but I was wrong, I didn't know it would make you tap into her world. And for that, I'm sorry."
"I just understand, you speak of this princess like she's some kind of powerful goddess. You know, Arihmatheo showed me my parents." I blurt out since it's what he's been begging me to saying. Not sure why I choose to tell him because I honestly didn't want to tell anyone until I'm sure of it, but I guess I'm tired of thinking and not getting anywhere. The headmaster is the last person I want share my burdens with but he's the only one that asked.
"He did?" His eyes widens in shock before the expression clears from his face. First, he didn't seem surprised at my mention of Arihmatheo, almost like he knew.
I nod. "Yes. He didn't show me all but they were happy even though everything and everyone was against them. They–”
He interrupts me before I get the chance to tell him how beautiful their love story was. "I know I shouldn't have left you alone after what you've been through."
I turn my head to glare at him. "Excuse me!"
"Arihmatheo has power to control people. He can make you see what he wants you to see. You shouldn't trust him."
I kind of figured he had the power to control people myself, but what I saw was real. I can understand why the headmaster would think he's tricked me because he's the bad guy, but I'm certain was I saw was real.
"So you're saying I spend two days on watching some made up romance story, come the fuck on."
"Language, young lady!" He shoots me a look that says not to mess with him.
"Don't call me–I just need some fucking answers." I don't care if he calls me young lady or not.
"Then ask your parents about your biological parents, not me!" He fires back with the same pitch and look that rivals mine.
We have a stare contest for a while before I close my eyes and exhale softly. He's right. These questions that I've been asking aren't for him, he just met me and it's not even up to a month and I'm already behaving like a bitch to him about something he knows nothing of.
"I'm sorry for overreacting." I apologise and sigh. The truth everything has been hard. A month ago, I was getting in trouble for fun with my friends and I never thought my life could turn around, leaving me with unsolved mysteries and unanswered questions.
"I haven't been able to get through to them since I arrived. I'm worried," I inform him since he's friends with them.
He nods in understand and answers, "It's probably work, but keep trying. I'll do the same."
I want to correct him that my parents aren't a workaholic, they always make time for me. It's been weeks and I haven't heard from either of them. I don't want to think the worst or be paranoid but my mind is telling that something is wrong.
"All right, I–" the sound of the school bell cut of what I'm about to say. It's lunch time and student will be rushing to the cafeteria in no time.
"I'm here for you if you need anything or just talk." He offers.
I nod. "And I know where your office is when the time comes." I get up on my feet and dust the back of my leggings before walking away.
I make a quick trip to the cafeteria in search of Nate. After my talk with the headmaster, I realize that I just have to look for them and I've seen Roman do a location spell, it means Nate can do it to. The reason I don't want to ask Roman is because I don't trust him and I don't want to get ahead of myself but Arihmatheo warned me about an 'him' and I've only related with three him since I got here: The headmaster, Roman and Nate. I don't trust the Headmaster for obvious reasons and Roman and the headmaster seems to have some kind of 'bro-something' going on, which leaves me with Nate. He knows nothing about me, so it's has to be him.
I don't look around the cafeteria much before seeing him walking straight to his usual table with his lunch in hand. That's Nate for you, the first to get to the cafeteria and the last to leave. The place isn't packed yet, so I better get going before running to the person I've been avoiding.
I head to his table and drop my hands on the just when he's about to bite a mouthful of cheeseburger. His mouth hangs as he sees me, loosing the grip he has on the burger, causing it to drop on his tray.
"Happy to see me?" He doesn't react, which only prompt me to say what I'm here to say. "Listen," I lean close so no one will hear, "I need your help with something."
He blinks at me and shake this body before reaching down to grab his burger again. I groan and snap my fingers in his face before he can take a bite. "Come on, Nate. Are you not talking to me?"
He shrugs. "I don't know, Cami. I've been in your room asking to talk to you to see if you're okay but no, you won't talk to me." He says and proceed to bite his burger, finally.
I roll my eyes. "You didn't even say anything." I remember him in case he's forgotten. He did come to visit me but he never said anything, I just figured he was there to see my roommate and yes, I have a roommate now.
"Yeah but you pasted a 'please leave me alone' note in front of your door with your name signed on it, you even put your middle. Who does that?"
"I'm sorry but I need your help, okay!"
He scoffs and continue eating. "That doesn't sound like please to me."
I look at the entrance of the cafeteria and more students are pouring in. "Fine, please, help me."
He drops his half eaten burger on his tray and glares at me. "One can't even eat in peace. Why are you asking me instead of Roman?"
I raise my eyebrows. "Why would I ask Roman?"
"I don't know because you are in his coven, come on, Cami, keep up. I can't be teaching you everything for free."
I roll my eyes. "Will you help me or not?"
"Not." He says and turns to his food.
"Oh, God." I mutter. "I want to do a location spell, meet me at the barn in an hour."
"I have class and siesta."
"Argh!" I growl and leave his side. Nate can be so...
"I won't be there." He shouts behind me.

I make a quick trip to my room to shower and change to a baggy crop top and black ripped jeans before leaving for the barn located far from the school. It's an old barn that hasn't been in use for a while but student use it as their own personal motel six.
Entering the place, I see Nate sitting on a wooden bench a map is spread out in front of him.
"I knew you'd come." I say with a smile. It means a lot to me that he's here.
"Your arrogance might be a problem in our friendship," he replies in a tone I've never heard him use before.
I stop and flinch at his harsh words. "Ouch, that was a bit harsh."
"Takes one to know one I guess." He shrugs.
I frown and approach the bench, stopping in front of him. "Is there a problem, Nate?" I ask, bending because he's hiding his face from me.
He raises his head up and burst into a fit of laughter, throwing his head back. I stand straight and look around. "You should see your face right now, I totally got you. The expression on your face was priceless. Wish I had a camera with me."
"Really, Nate?"
His face clears of all emotions and holds his hand up. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend." He says and begins to laugh again.
God! Nate can be such a child some time.
This is going to be a long day.
