A Disappointing Legacy

The Vacker Legacy Book 3

Lady Gisela Sencen was disappointed. She had specifically chosen her husband because of his Empath ability. She would need him to run her Nightfall. But so far, that plan was not going as she wanted. Lord Cassius was quite stubborn and did not want his name tarnished. That posed a problem. Gisela wanted a legacy, and a good one at that. But without an Empath to run Nightfall, that seemed impossible.

Gisela reflected back on when she had learned about Nightfall. She was pretty young, around 60 when she learned about it. She had been wondering why the humans had betrayed the elves. From the sources she found, they seemed like a good, intelligent species. She was searching the public library for books about the Human Betrayal when she accidentally pushed a bookcase open. On the other side was the restricted section of the library. One was called Vespera's Crimes. She opened it up and began to read. She found information about Vespera, Nightfall, and about her experiments. She was intrigued. She thought that Vespera had the right idea, but the idea needed tweaks. She would create her own Nightfall.

Now she was much older and had just experienced a major setback. If Cassius wouldn't work with her, who would. As she was outside of Candleshade, wondering how she would proceed when a black cloaked figure appeared in front of her. "Hello Gisela," the figure said in a familiar voice. He pulled back his hood to reveal... "Fintan," Lady Gisela said. "What brings you here? Do I need to fetch my husband?"

"No," Fintan said as he laughed, "In fact, I would much rather Lord Cassius know nothing of this exchange. Let's cut to the chase. I know you want a legacy and you think that the council needs to be gone. I can provide both for you. I am part of a group called the Neverseen. We have the exact goal to oppose the council. I also know of something called Stellarlune that can give you the Legacy you want. What do you say?"

"Looks like I won't have a disappointing Legacy after all." She shook his hand
