A year has passed but something changed. Mark didn't often come now... I wondered why. Late at night, Rocky would visit me and we would run around the streets. He has been telling me that his human has been very busy and did not even play with him anymore. Same reason why he has not visited Sarah lately.

Every day I watched Sarah's face... it was so different when he visited. I should rouse her up with my happy tongue attack.

Sarah: "Good boy! Did you wait for me? It's Saturday tomorrow! I'm gonna pet you all you want!"

And it was effective! But still, my nose was telling me something.

For the past months, every time Shecate visited, we talked in the human tongue, I could not speak it but I could understand what my Sarah said. I rapidly wagged my tail like mad. Really! She's gonna pet me all day tomorrow?!

I ran around her answering her to my best the best of my abilities.

Baron: "Woof! Woof! Woof!"

The night she allowed me to sleep on her bed, she even hugged me like my mother did, there was a feeling of happiness inside that I could not explain.

Sarah: "Damn it, Baron! Stop wagging your tail! Sleep now!"

She rubbed my head so good.

Baron: "Uuu."

Sarah: "Hahaha."

We slept together that night... It wasn't the first but I just couldn't help smiling when I remember it.

The next morning she did what she said, she bathed me first in the morning and rubbed my coat every time I stuck with her. She was indeed so good! She would trace my coat into my ears and rub all the way, I put my head on her bald legs and smell her.

Sarah: "You are getting drowsy! Baron, you are a spoiled dog!"

Baron: "Woof?"

I guess so? I looked at her like she was everything I knew.

She touched my face and placed her nose over mine... I can smell her mild breath.

Sarah: "So you admit it? Huh? Huh?"

I licked her since it was my chance to taste her.

Sarah: "Baron stop it!"

She loves me.

...

One day she went home. It was sunny, unlike before she was covering her face as she arrived, I greeted her the usual way but she patted my head and shoved me off... I was worried, dead worried.

I went outside our box to see if someone hurt my Sarah but there was none. I quickly went inside the house going through my door, I ran into her side, she was lying on the bed. I quickly searched her face but she was putting it down on the soft pillow therefore I licked her ears.

Sarah: "Ah! haha! Sob! Baron stop it please!"

But I didn't, I wanted to see her face so that I could tell if she was okay or not. Finally, I think I pissed her off, she pushed me off the bed where I skillfully landed by myself.

Sarah: "I said stop please!"

For the first time I saw her make that kind of face... it felt like my heart was broken, there was water running down from her eyes. I jumped beside her and licked her face... it was salty.

Sarah: "And here I' am getting consoled by my dog... damn it!"

She suddenly pinned me down holding me as tight as she could... It felt good but I could feel that she was sad... so sad. What happened to her?

<Sarah POV>

I was at work at the office, and suddenly one of my co-workers came to my table. He said that someone was looking for me. I walked outside the office and found Mark, he was carrying a bag with a taxi behind him.

Mark: "I'm sorry for bothering you with your work but... you don't answer my calls. I'm here to say goodbye."

I know that it was his flight today... He had told this me before.. by the time he courted me, he was already fixing his requirements for a job abroad... he passed his exam last week and finally last Friday, he asked me if we should continue our relationship, by that time I shut him off, never answered him back... I was not ready for it... I was even going to let it pass away since I didn't know what I had to say.

Mark: "Please say something to me..."

Then he suddenly surprised me by going here. I knew it was my fault for not saying anything... but I couldn't just give up on him... I would not make him decide whether it's me or his career.

Sarah: "I want us to..."

I was ready to say that I wanted to hold on but he said something that made my mouth back up.

Mark: "I won't get angry if you found someone else... at least I just want us to have a closure."

My heart broke... so he was here for closure... I guess I missed my opportunity... time didn't wait for me I guess.

Sarah: "I'm sorry... thank you for all that you have done for me... I was happy to be with you but you have to go."

Mark: "Is that so... then it is the same for me... thank you... I really did love you... if you... if we are still single when I get back... I will find you."

Mark said this with a straight face... if you really loved me... if I really loved you... why did we have to let go of our relationship? Well, it was better to be not committed I guess.

He smiled and went into the taxi, I went back to the office like nothing happened.

I continued working that day but as I went home, my tears rained, Baron kept annoying me... he was consoling me. The next day Aunt Rebecca came over, and it seemed that Baron called her again. If Baron was a human, he would be the best friend I ever had, he knew he could not console me the way a human would do.

I was just thinking this myself as I looked at him while I was telling my feelings to Aunt Rebecca. Baron was intently looking at me like he was listening. Aunt Rebecca followed my sight and looked at him too.

Rebecca: "That guy... I think he does not really... you know... if he really loved you.. he should have married you before going away... how many years will he be gone?"

Sarah: "5... it is very long."

Aunt Rebecca sipped the tea in front of her, she told me that it was a lavender tea, and she brought it to calm me down. She started preaching to me, I was not listening at all. I was just looking at Baron who was earnestly listening to Aunt Rebecca like he could understand it.
