Girl
Background: I don't like this one as much. I forgot when I wrote it, 2017 probably. It's another of my first poems and I focus too much on making it rhyme.
WARNINGS: depression, anxiety, mental illness/disorder
There was a girl
She lived in a house
She had two sisters
And a cat named after a mouse
She had a good family
She had a good life
But inside she was broken
Her thoughts caused her strife
The girl wore a mask
She wore it everyday
She said that she was fine
She said she was okay
Yet late inside her room
When she was all alone
She cried herself to sleep
She wanted to go home
But how can one go home
When one is already there
Tucked into their bed
Safe beyond compare
I do not have an answer
For I wonder much the same
The house where I live is not my home
And for that I feel ashamed
Even as I ponder
I've figured out my plight
A house does not make a home
And that is quite alright
People make a home
A safety net in which to fall
From the loving arms of family
We all eventually must crawl
There was a girl
Who felt she had lost her home
But love and grace reminded her
She didn't need to roam
Her parents arms enveloped her
The girl began to mend
Family healed the open wound
And brought us to the end
