Dream catchers 

I have twenty-three 

Knotted string inside a hoop

Beads and feathers 

Some have chimes 

Some have shells 

One can fit in the palm

Of my hand

Another is as big

As my face 

Every color of the rainbow 

Despite their differences 

They all serve the same purpose 

To protect me 

From myself 

To stop the dark thoughts

That haunt me 

So I can sleep peacefully 

So I don't have to be tired 

Sleep-deprived 

All the time 

I hope one day 

I'll collect enough of them 

And they'll start to work
