A young man roared in pain as his sword spilled apart a beast just as it broke. "Shit! Where's the reinforcements?!" He roared as he looked around. 

This man is Rex Crozzo, a 19-20-year-old soldier of Schicksal and a former student of the experimental Einherjar corps of the Japanese branch of St. Freya Academy. He, the brother of some men with a high affinity and resistance to Honkai energy, was recruited to boost morale. 

He was just a student when war broke out with the third impact. He was sent from battlefield to battlefield, spite and hatred fueling his being as he moved and destroyed every Honkai beast he could along with other humans belonging to some organizations. Currently, he and the rest of his team that was still alive were in Shenzhou trying to secure a location. 

Using the remains of his sword to kill a Honkai beast, the young man tossed it aside as he pulled out a pair of trench knives. They needed to hold this place. With most of their group killed or out of the action... 

"Oh you have got to be kidding me!" Rex shouted as he looked at the clone of the First Herrscher. A perfect clone would be way out of his league but the evacuation is still on going. "This is so gonna suck..." 

It was either this or... numerous people evacuating will be killed. 

'I have to protect them,' Rex thought as he took one last look at his dog tags and a small locket in it, containing a picture of him and his brothers along with big sis Elysia, Reinhardt's partner and not-so-secret lover. 'Sorry, but this is it,' Rex thought to himself as his eyes narrowed on the first Herrscher's clone. 

Numerous surgical implants burst inside his body, filling it with a new source of power. The experimental procedure done by Overseer Otto for his Einherjars and his ace in the hole. He and his brothers received highly compatible Honkai genes belonging to numerous emperor-class Honkai beasts and his DNA partner... was simple and effective. It made him into a living wall of tank by giving him a powerful healing factor strong enough to make him adapt to hellish environments but with the power of the first Herrscher clone... will it be enough?

"Do you wish to protect them?" 

Huh? 

"Do you wish to protect them?" 

Of course I do! I might not be the best... but I will protect them. 

No matter the cost? 

Even if I burn this body to the ground, then yes! I will gladly do so!

Power. Power flooded his body and Rex's eyes widened. It was soothing, like a soft embrace from his big sister.

The battle was hard and long but the broken form of one Rex Crozzo towered over the remains of the First Herrscher with countless shards of earth sticking out of its body. Dark eyes dulled with each moment as he looked around. Countless corpses of humans, animals, and honkai beasts littered the area as their blood mixed into one. A once-beautiful location was now turned to a desolate wasteland... taking a few decades to fully heal. 

'Why are we fighting like this again?' He asked himself as he felt his body drop on the ground. The power was too much... he had flooded his body with it and it ruined it from the inside like a balloon popping because of too much air inside it yet his mind focused on one thing. 'Why do we die like this?' 

You did well, child. 

A young man with brown hair and amber eyes said, kneeling in front of him. 

I did so... huh? That's nice...

It's a shame... you would have been well-suited for my Gnosis. But your body is too weak now and my power has destroyed it. 

So it was you... the one that helped me...

if given the chance... will you take it? A chance to prevent all of this from happening? 

Of course... I hated this... I only stomached it for my brothers and sisters... but this... I want to prevent this...

Amber eyes snapped open as Rex Crozzo saw a ceiling... a ceiling belonging to the clinic of a special research facility where he first got his Honkai genes augmentation. 

"Ah... it seems like the requirements were met and your Honkai genes have bonded with your own perfectly," A blonde-haired man that recruited him and his brothers said. "Are you feeling well, Rex Crozzo? Congratulations for today is your new birthday,"
