Chapter One.
(P.O.V.-Pandoraca.)
Today is just another normal day at my father's army base, well... That is, if normal means an actual Zombie Apocalypse. Memories swim in my head like water in a fishbowl.
I run into the living room, awoken by the sound of gunfire. I see my father aiming his rifle at a motionless body that is now bleeding out onto the floor, the skin... The green is a grayish-green with black veins, which means. Black blood. I almost get sick just by looking at it, the smell is gut-wrenching. The window is shattered, broken from the outside, in. I look up at my father, frozen with fear. "D-Dad... What did ya do ta Mrs. Drake..??" I ask my father like any nine year-old girl would ask if there was a dead, bleeding body on the floor and their father was the one who shot it. My father lowers the rifle to look at me, he speaks gently to try and calm me down. I'm already having an anxiety attack just by seeing the gun in his hands. "It-... Mrs. Drake was very... 'Sick.' She was gonna end up hurtin' ya Darlin'... I did what I had ta do..." Both of us jerk our heads towards my mother's room when she screams Bloody Murder. My father rushes in and I hear more gunfire. I follow him quickly and see something no nine year-old girl should EVER have to see, my mother... Lifeless in my father's arms, a dark red hole between her eyes. I feel tears swell up in my innocent, child eyes. "Rose... Rose...!"
"Rosie!!" I get ripped away from my memories to see my father, his hands on my shoulders, standing in front of me. "Ya alright Darlin'? Yer startin' ta scare me with all that zonin' out..." I clear my head enough to answer, "I'm fine Dad..." But that never convinces him, he presses me to open up to him. "Look Pandoraca... I know it's been rough with everythin' goin' on around here. But yer mother... She would've wanted ya-" I interrupt him, my voice burning with anger. "I said I'm fine, just leave it at that, please." My father falls silent, he knows how our arguments end; With me cutting myself. I grab my gear and head out to the abandoned streets that are only occupied by the Undead or violent street gangs, that kill Zombies and people both without remorse. In my mind, i think it'll be a calm day until i hear the one thing that changes my mind, "SSSCCCCRRREEEEEECCCHHHHHH!!!", The Scream of Death is what I like to call it. 'Screamers!' I take to the alleyways to block my scent, i plug my nose to avoid the awful stench of death and the sewer system below me. My heart nearly stops as a whole pack, roughly 30 or 40, of Screamers rush past my face. A straggler stops in front of me and comes closer, around 5 inches from my face, I manage to keep my breakfast in my stomach. 'It's mouth is open!' Screamers have no eyes, but they do have the highly advanced senses of smell and hearing, plus... They run on all fours, so they're fast as hell! Finally it leaves me and catches up with its pack. I step out of the alley and take a deep, clean breath of air. I start to keep moving but i hear something that stops me in my boots. Off in the distance, the sound of gunfire and people yelling to each other. "Go, get these kids outta here! We're running outta room down here! GO-NOW-GOD-DAMNIT!!" 'Damnit... Why do I have ta have a heart?!' I run towards the voices, killing Screamers and drawing the attention of more as I go. 'Track and Field Record... Don't fail me now!'
(P.O.V.-Trial.)
I stay down on the ground to cover my team as they help each other over the fence behind me, Kanji calls over my gunfire as he climbs over. "You're the last one, get out of there Trial!" I get an opening and go to turn to the fence, but something catches my eye. 'Is that... A girl?!' To my amazement, I see an Irish girl being chased by a pack of Screamers. 'Shit.' I climb up the fence and wait at the top. She gets closer and I shout for her to jump, surprisingly, she listens. She takes a running-jump for my hand and just barely makes the distance. She helps me in pulling her up to the top, her face twisting with emotion. The Screamers hit the fence, causing it to shake violently.
I open my eyes to see the ceiling of a warehouse, I sit up and notice that my team had brought me and My Mystery Girl to the camp. I look around me and see Leo and Colt Sentara. Leo is checking up on Mystery Girl, Colt is checking on me. The green-haired trans boy looks up from taking my pulse, his blue eyes shining like usual. "Good, you're awake... Who's the girl..?" He asks as politely as he can without seeming like he doesn't care, if he didn't care, he wouldn't ask. "I don't really know... Picked her up from Screamers, they looked ready to tear her apart." Leo chimes in,"Well, they almost did." motioning to a large gash on the girl's side. "Don't worry, she's passed out... Looks like she hasn't slept in days, plus..." The brunette gently holds up the Irish girl's left arm, showing cuts going up to her shoulders, "Looks like she deals with the same Darkness as you Trial..." I sit there just thinking to myself, looking at the girl while I can. She has long electric blue hair with a snowy, white streak weaving through it. Freckles dot all her visible skin. She's a neko, her cat ears and tail are the same snowy white as the streak in her hair. Then I remember her eyes, I saw them when I pulled her to the top of the fence, they're a striking, blood red. I see a name stitched onto her shirt, i read it out loud. "Pandoraca Rose Camerite... Well, we know her name, and where she came from... Her father is Commander General Camerite at the SouthEnd Army Base."
