CHAPTER TWENTY THREE
Nasir's POV
"What the bananas is fudging wrong with you?" I heard Salma's voice a few feet away, Jackson and I immediately walked briskly towards her direction.
Before we got there, a few number of people were already looking at her.
Hammad's brother called him and he went to a secluded area because the hall was brawly.

"Whaaatt?" The thick voice of a tall boy standing in front of her erupted, there was laughter and amusement laced with his voice

"The fudging bananas? Really?" This time he burst out laughing

"What's wrong?" Jackson asked Salma who was already devastated, she dangerously looked at the boy.

"Don't you dare try that nonsense with me again" she stretched out her finger, given how tall she was, few moves and her finger with poke his eye.

"What nonsense are you talking about cutie pie?" A mocking laughter came again and this time, a slap landed on his face.

"You little rat...?" He raised his hand and I couldn't watch anymore, I held his hand and hit his chest.

"Don't you dare?" I gritted my teeth and hit him again

"Come on, fight with your type" he just looked at me and a smirk was pasted on his face.

"Her prince in shining armor" one of the three boys beside laughed out loud

"If you fight, our school will be disqualified, ignore him"Jackson whispered

"Hmm, Jackson Smith" he called out Jackson's name, clearly they must know each other somehow, Jackson ignored him

"He wants to chicken out" the boys who stood by his side laughed and that got me, I don't care again.

"You..." Before I could complete my sentence, Jackson dragged me and I just gnashed my teeth and was about following him when I felt a piercing pain from my mouth, the mother fucking dude hit me, I slipped my hand from Jackson's hand.

"You son of a bitch" I roughly turned and I felt a cold hand wrapped around my hand, it was really soft. I looked down and Salma's hand was wrapped around my hand.

She nodded her head and walked to the direction of the elevator, I just followed her and didn't say anything.

"Nasir, you need to learn to control yourself dude" Hammad said, irritation written on his face, so he's actually irritated, what the hell is wrong with him for goodness sake?

"You need to, you need to learn to stay away from my problems, got that?" Salma raised her a little more than normal.

"You are not meant to always indulge yourself in my problems, things have been like this for the past 5 to 6 years, just because you were transferred to my school the last three months doesn't in any way mean that you have the right to do anything for me, ok?" She continued talking and the three of us just kept quiet looking at her

"I'd have handled that scene just the way I usually handle it but no, I didn't because you were the one, the three of you that instilled the fact that I needed to speak up and all these..." She kept quiet for a second and continued again

"You wanted him to hit you? Then come on, let's go and meet him so he'd hit you if that's what you want" she's becoming annoying, like seriously

"Allow her to talk" Hammad said

"Well, I don't think I need you guys, being alone for long so I can still manage myself, I appreciate the fact that..." The elevator dinged any her floor and she didn't even wait to complete her sentence, she just walked out, I was about to follow her but Jackson stopped me.

"Leave her, things are actually drastically changing for her, she's not used to anyone standing up for her, let's give her sometime to think over this, ok?" Hammad calmly spoke as we left the elevator and walked to our room, Jackson joined us too.

"Clean up, I saw a first aid box in the bathroom, it's in that small cupboard" Hammad explained where the box was kept

After I cleaned up and took a quick shower, Hammad and Jackson were discussing on how they'd look for a way to report what happened.

"The school deserves to be disqualified" Jackson, who was carelessly relaxed on a small couch, his posture will surely give him back ache. His legs were on the floor while his upper body was also in a rough manner.

"No, I don't think so, the school doesn't deserve to lose before they even play, the least we can do is to get him disqualified, not the school" Hammad philosophically explained

"Hmm, you are right" I agree with what he said, the school doesn't have to suffer his negative behavior

"Your phone's ringing Nas" Jackson smiled, I smiled too because it has been a while I was called that name.

It's a video call from my dad, wow.
To be honest, my dad has actually being trying his best to make up for all he did, he has been calling since we arrived here. I guess uncle Jalal is doing the one directing him because I know that my dad can't be a sweet dad, well, he's trying his best now.

"Hi Dad" I calmly said, no one is perfect, when your parents make mistakes and admit they made the mistake, forgive them. Although some parents don't actually admit it, their actions will tell you they are sorry.

In my own case, my dad didn't apologise but his actions explain he's truly sorry for everything he did.

"Nasir, how are you?" He asked me and that's how we continued chatting, when he noticed the cut by my lip, he asked me what happened and I told him it wasn't something big because I didn't get to fight him, explaining the fact that fighting him back will get me or my school disqualified from the game.

"You always fight, don't you?" Uncle Jalal's face came on the screen, I laughed lightly and told him it's only when the necessity rises.

"Well, just take care of yourself, ok?" Uncle Jalal said and I slowly nodded my head.

"Guess who is here Nasir" My dad chuckled

"Mom?" I tried but he said no, so I didn't try again and I saw a young man in an ash suit sitting down, smiling widely

"Sa'aaaadddd" I screamed and the three of them laughed while Hammad and Jackson looked at me weirdly

"We had a brief chat and he told me his sister was at home, we exchanged contact details.

At the end of our discussion, Sa'ad told me he was the manager at one of his dad's companies while his sister was in her final High school year too.

"Well, u know that girl loves nothing more than talking like a radio, defending this and that, she's going to further her studies in Law" he replied when I asked him what department she was in.

I remember how that girl does analysis to whatever happens, she's talented.

We talked for almost two hours, Jackson and Hammad got tired and left the room. They kept a note before leaving though.

"When is the game?" my dad asked

"It'll start on Wednesday but my school is going to play on Thursday" I replied, they are eight schools, 4 will play against each other on Wednesday, while the remaining 4 will play on Thursday. That is, 4 will be disqualified and on Friday, the four will play again, getting only 2 schools that will play the final on Saturday. It'll be choking but I think it'll be worth it.

We greeted each other farewell with Uncle Jalal telling me to get the name of the guy I had a misunderstanding with.

I picked my small bag pack and went downstairs to meet Jackson and Hammad, it was past Asr time so I prayed before leaving.

"Well, The coach has made inquiries and explained the type of problem on ground. He took it up and the boy has been disqualified.

"The boy you fought with is actually Jax's friend" Hammad said

"Yeahh, he was once in our school before his dad took him out of the country due to everything he got himself into" Jackson explained

"Is it the Suleiman guy you told me about?" I asked them

"Yeahh, he's the one" Jackson replied

"They must have met, Jax and Brenda must have met him" I said

"Hmm, maybe" Hammad answered

"Wow, what's his surname?" I asked them again

"It's Saleh, Suleiman Saleh" Jackson looked at the wristwatch on his hand

"Good" I removed my phone from my pocket and texted Uncle Jalal the name.

"Salma hasn't left her room since the incident, let's go check on her" Hammad suggested

I didn't want to go but I just cleared up my mind and followed them.

"Call her please" we've being standing at the door for almost 5 minutes and she didn't even answer us, Hammad called and she opened the door.

She changed from the outfit she wore earlier, earlier on she wore a sky blue Abaya and flat black shoes, she was the only one who dressed differently in the entire hall.

She was on a jean trouser and a baggy shirt with a small veil on her head.

She made way for us to go on, after that night we sneaked into her room, we got to know that we can actually visit the female's floor during the day.

"Nasir, I'm really sorry about what I said earlier on...I just..." Before anyone could say anything, she started but Hammad told her to nevermind

"He actually deserves it" Jackson looked at me

"Why won't you say so?" I laughed, and the atmosphere was immediately from a tensed to a very playful one.

"You need to learn to control your anger by the way" Salma said from nowhere.

"Yes...yes" Hammad and Jackson simultaneously said and I promised I'd try to do that.

"My brother called earlier on, he said I should extend my regards to you guys" Jackson stretched his legs and smiled.

"Ham, the guy's face looks so familiar, the useless dude" Salma looked at Hammad demanding for an answer

"Well, that's Suleiman, your eyes didn't lie, he used to be in our school but left the country.

"He's Jax's friend" Jackson added

"Wow, I was sure I knew him somewhere" she stood up and walked to the door as if she was expecting something or someone

"Thank you" she said, cheerfulness laced in her melodic voice, wait where's all these coming from

"Duuddddeee" Jackson called out a second after they burst out laughing

"What?" I smiled at them

"Take it easy" Hammad winked

"I ordered something" She sat down.

After we finished and were about leaving, Hammad told her to keep the door locked and try as much as possible to stay away from Suleiman.

"Before we leave, what time did you get the idea of that projector thing" I couldn't not ask her about that

"Before you start, congratulations Ma'am" Jackson bowed dramatically

We all congratulated her and she told us she knew the competition will be tough after 5 schools presented because most of the students knew the exact techniques of a perfect presentation.

"So I decided to use some images in PowerPoint, I designed and changed a few things, it was a template so nothing difficult"

"Wow, smarty pants" Jackson laughed

"I saw two guys laughing, what did they say? Hammad asked her

"They were just hating" she laughed and after that we left and decided not to go for dinner since we had a meal at Salma's room.

The coach called me and warned that I don't involve myself in any kinda fight or exchange of words, he said I was lucky this time but he doesn't think nature will work in my favor again, I chuckled when he used the word "nature" because it was way off but I agree with what he said.
