#7. Planning

Kabir is at the police headquarters. They are discussing something about the cases. He's listening to his senior officers intently. They're talking about the same issue of child trafficking. He looks at the senior officials.

"Sir, we need a foolproof plan to track the gang of human traffickers. Aise hi kuch karna bevakufi hogi," he says confidently.

"You're right, Kabir. But what is the plan? Do you have any idea?" The senior officer, Ronit, asks him.

"Not right now, Sir. But we need to define the plans," he says softly.

"That's what we are here for," another officer says softly.

"Kabir, you must find a way to catch this gang of human traffickers. Maybe we must spread our men around and keep a check on the people." Ronit says.

"Maine suna hai ki Thane mein kuch farmhouses hain. Pichli baar wahin se hume khabar mili thi. Kya hume wahin phir se check karna chahiye?" Kabir asks his question.

“Hamari ek team ko wahan jaa kar check toh karna chahiye. Kabir, I assign you the lead for the same. Tum hi is case ko handle karoge.” Ronit says softly, and Kabir assures him.

Meanwhile, Kabir’s phone rings, and he attends the call. He’s shocked by the news given to him.

“Are you sure? Kya tumhe pura yakeen hain ki wahi aadmi hain jiske baare mein tumne pehle bataya tha?” Kabir asks over the phone.

“Okay, thanks for the information. Main ek ghante mein tumse milunga, wahi paas ke Sunrise cafe mein.” Kabir says this and disconnects the call.

“Any lead?” Ronit asks.

“Yes, Sir. Vo aadmi, Raghu, phir se Panvel ke ilaake mein phir se dekha gaya hai. Main apne informer se milne jaata hoon. May I?” Kabir asks.

Ronit allows him, and Kabir assures him that he will share his plan after meeting his informant.

Nitya is in her office, Vintage Fashion Hub. She’s finalising some designs for her new range. She’s immersed in her work when her phone rings. She answers the call without checking the caller ID. She’s startled by Kabir’s voice.

‘Kabir! Are you okay? Achanak kaise phone kiya?” She’s astonished, as Kabir never calls during work hours.

“Nitya, I am fine. Maine bas ye batane ke liye phone kiya hain ki aaj shaayad mujhe ghar aane mein derr ho jaye. Tum khaane pe wait mat karna. Khana khakar so jaana.” He says it from the other side, and Nitya smiles.

“I am fine, Kabir. Ab medicines nahi le rahi hoon na. Tum bas apna khayal rakho, aur jaldi aana. Main tumhara intezar karungi.” Nitya says this over the phone and cuts the call.

She smiles. Kabir has been very caring since day one of their wedding. He cares for her equally, and she’s his priority,  just like his duty. She craves his time, but moments like these—a small phone call, a 5-minute conversation, and sitting holding hands or hugging each other—work as therapy for both Kabir and Nitya. Every time she thinks she can’t love him more, he gives her another reason to fall in love with him all over again.

She sighs deeply when something crosses her mind, and her smile fades a little. The pain of not having a child again appears on her face. Yeah, she had been on medication, but it didn’t have much effect. This is the reason that Kabir is a little more concerned about her.

She remembers the promise that Kabir made to her. They’ve decided to adopt a child, but she can’t bug him every now and then for the same. Meanwhile, there’s a knock on the door. She allows the person in, and it’s her secretary, Akshaya Mittal. She reminds Nitya about a meeting, and she’s astonished. She has a meeting in the next 40 minutes. She gets busy with work.

A long day lies ahead.

Ruhana and Anamika reach their office and get busy with work. Anamika has work to finish before her trip to London. She’s busy at work when someone taps on the table and keeps a mug on it. She looks up, only to find Ruhana smiling at her.

“Have some coffee, Ana!” She says.

“Ah! I needed this; thanks, Ruu.” Anamika smiles at her best friend.

“I knew it, Anu. Take a break. Sab kaam hojayega.” Ruhana comforts her.

“Han Ruu, and I think, Thoda kaam tumhe bhi karna padega shayad.” Anamika says thoughtfully

“I will handle it, Ana. Tum bas project ka paperwork dekh lo. You must finish them first. Hamara wala combined project main handle kar lungi.” Ruhana says, assuring herself.

Anamika agrees with her friend, and the two girls get busy with their work.

Kabir reaches the place where he called his informer to meet him. He occupies a corner seat and orders a coffee. He’s looking into his phone when someone sits opposite him.

“Han, Pramod, bol! Kya khabar hain?” Kabir asks without looking at him.

“Saab, vo aadmi Raghu hi hain. Meri nazar kabhi dhokha nahi de sakti,” the man says.

“Aur kisi ko dekha?” Kabir looks at him again.

“Nahi Saab, vo Raghu akela aaya tha. Aur wahan ek farmhouse khali pada hain. Shayad wo hi unka adda ho.” Pramod says, filling him up with the news.

“Ho sakta hain. Aur kuch suna tumne?” Kabir asks his informer.

“Aur Saab! Mujhe aisa lagta hain, unk agla shikaaar shayad koi school ke bachche hain. Aapko toh maalum hain ki school ke bache kitne bhole hote hain. Aur unko chhote bachon se hi matlab hota hain.” Pramod says.

Kabir sighs and hits the table with his hand. He just wants to stop this, catch the man behind these human traffickers, and save the lives of little children. Pramod gives him some add-on information, after which Kabir gives him some money, and the man leaves happily.

Kabir sits there thinking for a while, and suddenly an idea pops up in his mind. A small smile makes its way onto his lips, and he leaves the cafe.

Maybe he’ll be able to catch the culprit soon.

On the other hand, Ruhana reaches Suhana’s school to pick up her daughter. She notices that the little girl looks a little gloomy. She bends down to Suhana’s level and kisses her head.

“Kya hua? Meri bachi udaas kyun hain?” Ruhana asks lovingly.

“Kuch nahi, momma.” Little Suhana says maybe she doesn’t want to worry her mom.

Teacher, ne kuch kaha? Mumma ko toh batao.” Ruhana speaks softly, trying to ask about the matter.

Suhana just hugs her mother, and it’s enough for her to know that something is bugging her daughter. She lifts Suhana in her arms; the girl crosses her legs around her mom’s waist and locks her arms around her neck. Ruhana gets worried for her. She immediately calls Anamika, telling her that she’s going home with Suhana and won’t come back to the office. The work can wait, but she can’t leave her daughter alone.

The mother-daughter duo reach home; Ruhana helps Suhana freshen up, and she cooks aloo paratha for her daughter. The little girl is silent, and Ruhana is worried for her. It must be very disturbing that her daughter has turned silent. She feeds Suhana with her hands, and in the end, the little one tells her something that sends shivers down Ruhana’s spine. She says nothing but just embraces her daughter in her arms.

London, UK

Vineet is in his office. He has just finished a meeting and is seeing off the clients. The clients seem to be Indian, and he’s happy to meet them. As the clients leave, his phone begins to ring. A smile appears on his face upon seeing the name flashing on his face. He sits in his swivel chair and attends the video call.

“How are you? Bahut dinon baad yaad aayi tumhe meri!” he says jokingly while looking into the phone.

“Yaad kaise aayegi? I've never forgotten you. Tum toh yahin ho naa, hamare dil mein. Han, vaise toh bahut door ho, lekin phir bhi, we will make it work.” A feminine voice appears on the phone.

“Exactly! Cheezein tabhi hamare favour mein aati hain, jab hum koshish karte hain. I am glad you’re trying.” He said this over the phone.

“Yeah, we’re trying our best. I wish, iss baar vo ho jo main chahti hoon,” she says.

“It will happen, Nitya! Trust yourself, Trust me!” Vineet says over the phone:

Yep, the person who called Vineet is none other than Nitya. Vineet takes her as his sister, and she ties Raakhi to him, as the two don’t have any siblings. Vineet and Kabir are more like brothers, and these three have been a family. Vineet has been based in London for some time, but he has a branch of his business in Mumbai too, and he keeps visiting Nitya and Kabir. She looks smilingly at him.

“I trust you, bhai. Tum Kabir ke dost ho, lekin mujhse raakhi bandhvaate ho. Aur main ab tak jo kar rahi hun wo tumhare aur Kabur ke vishwas par hi kar rahi hun. Ab main bas itna chahti hoon ki jo main aur Kabir chahte hain, wo zaroor ho jaye.” Nitya says he is looking at him through his phone.

Vineet assures her, and then Nitya tells him about some international conference, and she asks him to attend it, as it’s happening in Mumbai again. He’s left thoughtful, but he agrees to plan a trip to visit them.

To Be Continued.
