The First Impression

"Candy!" You and Chopper gush as you wave your arms. Chopper giggles lightly hugging you. Law and the others sweatdrop as you and the little reindeer rush into the store. A small frown crosses Sabo's lips.

"___ isnt making it very unnoticeable." He murmurs. "What should we do?"

"There's not much we can do. This is the demon's fault." Law scoffs.

"What are you guys talking about? Is something wrong with ___?" Luffy asks confused.

"You haven't noticed? ___ keeps distracting herself like this. Its clear she's sad still." Sabo sighs. "Wounds of the heart is something I have no idea how to start to heal."

"Same." Law grumbles.

"... What if she fell in love with someone else?" Luffy inquires. Law and Sabo look at him for a long time.

"That could work." Sabo hums before looking at you through the window. "... Do you think she could fall for a spirit?" He murmurs. Law's ears perk at that, looking at you as well.

You soon come out with Chopper and a bag of candy. "What? I got you guys some." You tilt your head.

"Thank you." Law smiles. You raise an eyebrow at him and Sabo before shrugging.

"So what's next?" Sabo inquires.

"No idea... Kid said there wasn't much to do here. Besides sightseeing." You sigh. Law and Sabo exchange a glance at that.

"Lets go to the shrines around here then." Sabo suggests. You hum and nod at the thought, letting them lead the way while your mind wanders.

Always to Kid, it always wandered to him. You bite your lip and look to the sky. Law looks back and slows until he's beside you. "The demon again?" He guesses lightly.

"Sorry... It must be getting annoying... I just cant... Help but worry about him...." You sigh looking down again. He blinks before slipping his hand into yours.

"It'll be alright. Remember what I said?" He reminds you lightly. You pause and meet his gaze.

"Yeah..." You sigh leaning your head on his shoulder. He leans his head against yours.

"I'm here..." He breathes, rubbing your arm. You smile and close your eyes, relaxing a bit.

"Hey, isn't that Mr. Kid?" Chopper's question makes your eyes snap open to follow his point. There he was again, at the same crossroad near the railroad.

"Why there..." You murmur stopping and releasing Law's hand. "Sorry, this usually only takes a minute." You tell them before approaching Kid carefully. He doesn't look up as you reach his side. "Kid?" Your voice seems to jolt him back and he looks over in surprise.

"Hm? Why are you here?" He inquires.

"I was just passing by and... Are you okay?" You touch his arm and he pauses, looking at your hand on his arm. "Sorry.. No touching right?" You take it away carefully. He meets your gaze, and for a moment he had the same uncertainty as when you had met him the very first time.

"Wow you're nervous." Shanks comments as you fiddle on the camera.

"Sorry sir... I'm not used to communicating like this..." You respond uneasily. You also weren't used to talking to someone that was probably twice your age, or close to it. Shanks hums, putting a knuckle to his chin.

"I have an idea, my son might be able to help. I'll go get him." He smiles widely, and before you can object he's off screen. You sigh and rub your cheek, you weren't much better at chatting with guys your age either... Especially if they are cute.

"Please be ugly..." You whisper.

"Here he is!" Shanks chimes, making you blink back as he makes the other redhead sit down.

"Oi! Leave me alone old man!" He growls lightly.

"Kid this is ___! ___, this is my son Kid!" Shanks introduces before disappearing. Kid stops, and looks at you, seeming to freeze as a blush comes to his cheeks.

"Oh god you're cute..." You whisper, starting to blush yourself.

"Huh...? I um... Couldn't hear you." He manages, focusing on fixing the settings on chat, blush stil present on his cheeks.

"N-No it's nothing... Sorry, I'm not used to um..." You trail off feeling embarrassed.

"Trust me, neither am I..." He murmurs, trailing off as he peers at you, seeming uncertain. You scratch your cheek thoughtfully.

"So... Are you a Hikari in training too?" You ask lightly.

"Oh, no... I'm more of a... Mechanic in training." He rubs his neck and you catch a smudge of oil on his arm, noting his blackened hands.

"Sorry, did he pull you away from your work to talk to me?" You frown, feeling guilty.

"No, it's alright, it's not work... I'm just building something." He assures with a shrug. Your eyebrows raise at that.

"You're building a car?" You murmur in amazement.

"No, it's uh.. Motorcycle. A car would take.. Fucking years..." He breathes just shaking his head as he tries to figure out how much time it would take. You smile a bit and giggle at that. He blinks and looks back at you at that, starting to blush again. "I- Sorry, I didn't mean to say fuck- Sorry sorry..." He hides his face in a self scolding manner and you giggle more at that.

"I-It's alright, dont worry about it." You hum in amusement. He peeks at you and smiles a bit. You smile in return, "So, what's it going to be like? Your motorcycle?" Your question makes him grin and he starts to tell you.

"Kid... I know you can't remember..." You start and he blinks at you. "But... You're still really important to me... And you're not alone... Because I'm not going to let you go." You murmur. His eyes widen and a familiar blush comes to his cheeks at that. The reaction made you smile and cup his cheek. "I really missed that." You breathe.

He almost gave in to the warmth of your hand, before pulling away. Your smile falls a bit as he runs his fingers through his hair. "We're going to visit some shrines now. See you later... Kid." You hum turning to return to the others.

"A bit longer..." He breathes and you pause, looking back at him as he looks back down at the crossroad. "Just a bit longer." He repeats. You blink and smile a bit at that.

"I'll wait." You assure lightly before heading back to the group. Law's ears perk slightly as you smile to yourself when you reach them.

"Everything alright?" Sabo asks carefully.

"I think so... I caught a glimpse of a red teddy bear." You smile thoughtfully, peering back at Kid to find him looking at something in his hand.

"Red teddy bear?" Chopper echoes, making you look back.

"Don't worry about it... Means something good is happening." You smile softly.

"Red teddy bear." Chopper smiles lightly.

"Yep." You breathe.

He peers in, finding you and the fox fast asleep. His eyes going to the picture frame over the bed, he goes over to it, lifting it and taking out a journal. He goes to the desk and sits down, opening it to a certain page. He has read it a few times now, and for some reason, it kept prodding at his mind. It felt so important.

I finally got it looking like a motorcycle, but then the old man pulled me away, saying something about his student being nervous on the video call. How annoying. That's what I thought until I saw her. Her eyes are the most beautiful shade of (e/c).

God this is weird. This is supposed to be a project journal but, I have to write this down because I don't want to forget... Good thing I'm the one that'll be reading this...

Her name is ___, and she has the cutest smile. I was actually able to make her laugh, it was such a great sound, I already want to hear it again. I can't believe how easy it was to talk to her. She's supposed to come live here for training, and I am already nervous... I sound so soft right now, I need to get back to work.

He leans his cheek on his fist, turning to the next page. Almost everything after that first day had something to do with you.

"You found a journal?" He pauses, peering back at the fox, who now sat on the bed, tails fanned over you.

"Yeah... Everything makes sense when I read it..." Kid murmurs, looking back at the journal. Law hums, looking down briefly.

"Those crossroads... Is that where you woke up on that side?" He guesses lightly. Kid nods again, turning to the last written page.

"That's where I died.." Kid stands up, looking at the journal and gritting his teeth. "I was a fool." He growls lightly. He puts it back in it's cubby before turning to go out the door. He stops and turns back to him. "Get out of my room tonight." He points at the door. Law's ears flatten, peering at you hesitantly. "My room." He repeats. Law grumbles but goes out, knowing an argument would be an awful way to wake you.

Kid looks at you for a bit, stepping forward and kneeling beside the bed, watching you sleep soundly. "I still am a fool... But you don't think so, do you?" He breathes, reaching over and hesitantly touching your hand. He sighs quietly, closing his eyes, black smoke starting to drift off of him.
