Missing Him

"Faster! You're too slow!" Kid scolds you. It was kinda distracting with him shouting at you, but it was effective. Law was clearly irritated with the demon's presence but he didn't say anything nor acknowledge that Kid was there.
Sabo, Luffy, and Chopper tried to put you both at ease, joking around and what not. Mihawk on the other hand, didn't care about the other spirits, his eyes were only on you. Then there was Shanks, watching from the sidelines quietly observing as you trained with the others.
"Alright, lets stop for the day." Shanks calls, looking up toward the sun. You stop, panting lightly, hands on your knees.
"Weak." Kid sighs, elbow resting on your shoulder. You look over as he holds his chin in thought. "I think your training needs to be more extreme." He smirks. His amber eyes glide to you and you swallow.
"Extreme?" Law echoes, ears flattening with a frown.
"Sure, training is good and all. But it's not like real combat." He hums, black chains sliding out of his form. You flip away swiftly as one of the chains strike at where you had been.
"Hey!" Law growls, taking a step forward but you hold up your hand.
"Extreme training huh? Alright. Lets see what we can do." You breathe before holding out your arms. "Claws out Law." You add. Law looks at you before nodding and making the clawed gloves appear on yours and his arms.
"Don't get cocky ___." Kid hums, chains shooting out at you. You roll out of the way again before dashing at him as Law moves in from Kid's other side. Kid hits with a chain before catching your wrists. "Too eas-" You start saying a prayer, making the darkness burst from his hands. He releases you, staggering back in surprise. You were surprised too, did that mean he was afflicted too? His gaze meets yours before he hits you back with a chain.
"___!" Luffy calls worriedly as you hit the temple wall, causing the building to shudder. You cough, it felt like someone had a hot bar against your chest. You look up at Kid as he knocks Law away, eyes not leaving yours.
"Don't even think about it." He snarls at you. As if you could move much with this pain right now. You drop your gaze and your head, closing your eyes in defeat.
"That was too far Kid!" Shanks shouts as the other's rush over to you. Kid scoffs and stalks off at that. Chopper pulls at your shirt and gasps at the large red chain welt across your chest and upper arms.
"Ouch... You okay?" Sabo asks worriedly.
"Maybe I'll just get this tattooed on, seems permanent." You joke, peering at the mark.
"Glad you can smile about this." Law frowns, ears lowering.
"I'm sure he didn't mean to, he was surprised to find he was afflicted." You shrug.
"No reason to hurt you and be an ass." Law retorts. Your partner was pissed, that was easy to see. You couldn't get angry about this, you were just sad. Everything involving Kid now just made you sad.
"I'll be fine, it's just gonna bruise." You breathe getting up. They frown as you go inside before looking at each other.
"Dammit." Law growls covering his eyes. "I hate that demon."
"I must admit, he has been over aggressive..." Sabo sighs.
"I don't get it, why is ___ so nice to him?" Chopper asks. Sabo and Luffy look to Law at that.
"You've been over looking the pictures in the house, haven't you? This used to be his home...." Law tells them. "And she... She loved him dearly before he died." Law looks down. The others frown, sharing a glance.

You frown, turning the damaged gas tank over. Everything seemed damaged. You look at the blue prints again. Disassembling it was all you could do for now. You turn to the next part, starting to loosen the bolts and removing it. Next one, you frown trying to turn the screw. "Come on..." You growl. A hand comes over yours and you pause, looking at Kid's blank face as he helps you remove the screw.
"You should be laying down." He mutters as you both look at the blueprints before moving to the next one.
"Don't want to." You murmur, letting him help you steadily dismantle the motorcycle.
"Why are you wasting your time with this anyway? Just get a new one." He says. You glance at him and frown.
"Sometimes the best things need to be repaired. Plus, it helps me feel closer to the one I used to love." You answer simply. He stops and looks at you now.
"I'm sorry... For hurting you earlier..." He tells you. "I don't want to lose myself. I already feel like I have." He shifts his gaze back to the motorcycle. You frown watching him before leaning into his side, and looking to the side. He pauses, blinking in surprise before peering at you.
"We'll figure it out Kid... It'll be okay." You breathe quietly. He sighs softly, looking at the bike.
"I don't think I can be that guy you knew before. I suggest you give up wanting to see him again." He tells you and gets up. "I'll be on the roof if you can't sleep." He adds before going out. You frown at the bike. He saw right through you. It was true, you may never see the old Kid again.
"I miss you... My red teddy bear...." You whisper, touching the gas tank, tears returning to your eyes. "It hurts that I'll never be able to touch you..."
You let yourself cry silently for a bit before situating yourself and opening the door to head out. You pause, looking down to find Law curled up in front of the door, tails fanned over him. "Law?" You lean down, fingers brushing through his hair. His eyes ease open and he looks up at you.
"I wasn't expecting you to come out so soon... Are you alright?" He asks. You smile and nod, helping him up.
"Youre don't have to wait for me Law." You tell him. He searches your gaze before smiling softly.
"I know, I just want you to know you're not alone." He murmurs. You blink and bite your lip lightly before hugging him and hiding your face in his chest.
"I just miss him... Everything in here makes me think of him. How can his spirit be so... So..." You just shake your head. Law rubs your back.
"Honestly, he's doing better than I did when I first woke on the other side. I was lost and angry for so long. I didn't find my light until I was beginning to understand that place. His name was Rocinante, some others called him Corazon. I tried to kill him when we first met. And the clumsy idiot linked me to him." He chuckles lightly. You peer at his face, finding him thoughtful with a small smile. "I still miss him..."
"You must have been really mean back then." You chuckle.
"Definitely, but my point was... He found his light much faster than I did, so he'll be fine." He winks lightly. You blink and smile more.
"Hey Law... You're adorable." You comment lightly, rubbing his cheeks.
"I am not.." He grumbles lightly, ears flickering as a blush comes to his face. You giggle in amusement.
"I always wanted a fox, they're such beautiful creatures... Who's my good fox? Who's my sweetie?" You coo.
"This is becoming demeaning...." He pouts lightly.
"Come here, you're such a good boy!" You gush, bringing his head to your shoulder and scratching his head lightly, patting his back with your free hand. "Such a handsome guy~"
His ears flicker before he hugs you, tails wagging behind him. You grim at that, feeling happy at the sight. "Who's my good fox?" You prompt cheerfully.
"..... I'm your good fox." He breathes hiding his face in your shoulder.
"Yes you are!" You rub your cheek against his hair. He chuckles lightly hugging you tighter.
"Don't expect me to do that again." He breathes.
"Fair enough, come on let's go to bed." You pull back smiling at him. "Thank you Law. I'm so happy I have you."
Law blinks in surprise but smiles, tilting his head as he brushes your hair from your face. "I'm glad," He hums, taking your hand and guiding you to the room. You crawl in and he joins you, both of you drifting off soon after.
