"Are you okay?" Shanks asks worriedly as you cough.
"I'm good... You good Law?"
"You need to get faster ___..." Law rubs his neck and stands up.
"Right." You agree getting up.
"Your focus is off too." Sabo comments. You frown and look to the side.
"Sorry..." You mutter.
"What's wrong ___?" Luffy asks.
"I want to see him." You sigh. Law frowns, folding his arms.
"Fine, go find him then." He grumbles, ears laid back. You blink at him and frown too.
"Sorry, I'll try harder next time." You tell him. He just huffs, turning his head away. "I'll make it up to you." You hum, giving his ear a slight rub before heading off.
"Don't touch my ears!" He snaps after you.
It's been three days since you last saw Kid. You weren't really worried, but you did miss him. Wandering town didn't seem to do you much good, until you came to a crossroad near the railroad. He stood at the intersection, looking down at the road, unmoving. You pause before approaching him.
"Are you okay Kid?" You touch his shoulder. He tenses from your touch, helmet snapping to you.
"What?" The demonic voice growls.
"Are you okay?" You ask again softly. He pulls away swiftly.
"Why are you here...?" He mutters helmet disappearing. He looked confused, rubbing his temple.
"Kid..." You frown reaching for him. He avoids your touch, watching you with distrust.
"Don't touch me." He growls before getting on his motorcycle and zooming off. You drop your hand, watching him go. He looks over his shoulder and suddenly whips around coming straight for you.
"Eh?!" You breathe taking a step back as he pulls you onto his lap as he speeds by, a large shadowy creature with antlers lands where you had been standing. "What's that!?" You gasp, holding onto Kid.
"The shadow creatures." He answers zooming for the temple.
"You... Saved me again." You murmur.
"Don't start." He snaps in annoyance.
"Sorry." You look to the temple.
"Stupid Hikari..." He grumbles.
"My name is ___... Please use it." You offer a smile. He looks at you hard for a moment or two.
"Stupid ___..." He mutters.
"Still mean." You sigh quietly looking over his shoulder to find the creature gone. Kid swerves suddenly, making you hold onto him and look at the creature as it releases a bellowing roar. You shiver and hide your face in Kid's shoulder. "I'm scared..." You whisper. The demon slowly puts his arm around you before the bike zips up the steps to the temple.
"They can't come here without a Hikari escort." He says, stopping. You pull back and look at him. He meets your gaze and for a moment, he looked like he had before. "Don't be so reckless. They're here to protect you." He looks over and you follow his gaze as the spirits come out with Shanks, who freezes at sight of the demon. Kid picks you up and tosses you to Law who catches you swiftly.
"Be more gentle." Law growls at the demon.
"Be a better guardian." Kid retorts before speeding off.
"He's... Really changed..." Shanks breathes.
"He's still Kid." You assure. "Just uh angry."
"Are you okay ___?" Law inquires.
"Im fine, but the shadows are starting to move." You look at Shanks.
"They're gonna try to take out the lights on both sides." He frowns. "We need to bring light back to the spirit world."
You look to the portal and shift, the memories rush back. You didn't want to go back so soon. A hand eases into yours and you blink back, looking to Law.
"You wont be alone, remember, you chose my item." He rumbles.
"And you have ours." Sabo and Luffy pipe in. Mihawk nods in agreement.
"Good, we're gonna need a bit more help... But I don't doubt we can do this as we are." Shanks smiles nodding. "I'll show you how we're going to do it." He rumbles.
"You're coming too?" You murmur in surprise.
"Of course, we'll be able to light up the other world twice as fast together." He smiles.

The moon reflects off of the pool and you swallow nervously. "We'll greet you both on the other side." Law assures as you and Shanks back into the pool. Your partner gives you a small smile. "See you in a bit."
After the transition, you wake to the darkness. "Law?" You call, sitting up and feeling around. Shanks wasn't there. "Hello?" You get up carefully. Voices echo and hiss in the distance. You close your mouth, unsure if you should keep calling out.
You carefully go towards the voices, finding a red torch lit nearby. There were creatures sitting around it. 'Will the other Hikari really come?'
'He's bound to retrieve his student, and when he does we'll wipe out the light once and for all.' A deep voice rumbles, wrapping around you and making you shiver.
'I have to get out of here...' You think looking around in the darkness. There was no way to see where you were. You move away from the red light, trying to feel more around you. Walls... No good. There's a sliding sound nearby and you freeze, eyes going toward the sound. Silence again, then a gloved hand comes over your mouth. You recoil in surprise but they grab your arm.
"Not a sound." His voice whispers against your ear. You relax and hug him tightly. He growls quietly before picking you up and carrying you out. After a while he speaks again. "Why the hell do I keep doing this...." He growls putting you down. "Keep up."
"I... can't see Kid." You murmur. You hear him sigh in frustration before he grabs your wrist and pulls you along in the darkness. "How did you know?" You ask him.
"They had a trap set at the portal... They already knew what you two would try to do." He murmurs, mostly to himself.
"They've been planning this then... It's not a random uprising." You realize and move to his side. "Take me to a lantern. Let me bring light back." You request.
"They're waiting for that, Hikari." He points out with a growl.
"Not from me, they weren't expecting you Kid." You smile. "We'll be able to split up forces if Shanks is already lighting the other lanterns. And if he isn't, he'll start once he sees the light."
"... You better be right... Im tired of guiding you around." He grumbles. You smile a bit more and he soon stops, putting your hand to a lantern. You let out a breath putting your other hand on it, reciting a prayer. The golden flame bursts up in the lantern and you stagger back slightly. Kid presses his lips together snickering slightly.
"Are you laughing at me?" You frown at him.
"The look on your face.." He breathes in amusement. "Come on, to the next one." He adds leading you away. You could faintly see around you but it was still overwhelmingly dark.
"Thank you for helping." You tell him, "Even if you don't remember me, I'm glad you appear when I need you."
He stops walking altogether and you bump into him. "What are you talking about? We never..." He trails off, suddenly picking you up and getting on his motorcycle. You blink and hold on to him as he bursts off. "They responded faster than I thought."
You look over his shoulder as darkness tries to attack the lantern. "It's not going out..." You whisper.
"Here's the next lantern." He stops suddenly. "Make it fast." You get off, hands finding the lantern. You recite the prayer again and there's another burst of gold fire. You jerk as the antlered beast is blasted back, whimpering slightly. You blink at the sound it made. "Come on, lets go to the next one." Kid says impatiently.
"I can save it." You breathe, suddenly rushing over to it.
"Don't waste your time." He growls. You ignore him, kneeling next to the creature and putting your hand on it, uttering a prayer. Gold flickers over it, and it shrinks into a small brown creature.
"You're not a terrifying monster..." You breathe, picking it up and taking it to Kid's bike. Kid scoffs and pulls you on, driving for the next lantern.
"You were right." He says, nodding at something, you look over to see lanterns being lit with a reddish light. You relax a bit more as he stops at another lantern. You get off, giving him the small creature before going to the lantern and putting your hands on it and lighting it. You look over as something leaps at you, crashing into you and making you both go tumbling.
"You're okay!" Luffy cheers hugging you tightly. You blink in surprise.
"Luffy!" You hug him back just as tightly. Sabo and Law swiftly appear as you and Luffy get back to your feet. Law comes over, touching his forehead to yours, ears laid back.
"I was worried..." He murmurs.
"Sorry, I was scared too." You whisper.
"Well, you got your spirits here, I'll leave the rest to-" You grab onto Kid swiftly, making him freeze and look at you.
"Please stay Kid..." You plead quietly. "Don't go into the dark alone." He meets your gaze, standing up from his motorcycle with a dark look on his face.
"I've been in the dark since I woke. You weren't there." He hisses tossing the creature to Luffy before bursting off into the darkness.
"___...?" Law murmurs. You just watch the darkness, chest hurting as if Kid's words had been spears to it. The fox's ears fold back again and he takes your hand. "Come on, lets light up the rest and return to your world."
"... Okay..."
