Alternate Ending

In honour of book four, here's how I originally wanted to end this book
___________

'If there was one thing my family taught me, it was to never overuse my power. I never told you my name, because I know you'd know why I was telling you this story.

You've already met me through the course of the story. But let me introduce myself personally. My name is Melinda Katie Gustin. I am the daughter of Grant Gustin and Caity Lotz.

I grew up listening to the stories of my aunts and uncles, my parents prided themselves in remembering it all. Especially the love story that is my Aunt Melissa and Uncle Stephen.

I can recount the time my uncle Los drove my aunts and uncles to Kelowna by accident, or the time my father accidentally got himself and my uncle Stephen stuck in room at Vancouver Film Studios for 14 hours. But the story I continue to ask my parents to tell me, is when the sweethearts of Arrowverse finally got together.

Their story was unmatched'

"Melinda!" I jumped from my seat, looking up to see my mother smiling, "I've been calling you for almost and hour"

"Sorry, Mom" I smiled, "I just got into finishing the book"

"Finishing? Already?" She giggled, peering down at my work. "You have your fathers ambition"

"Not technically true, I got dads persuasion, I got your strong will" I said, putting my papers into a folder. "I just have a few more sentences and I can send them off to my publisher"

"Your aunts and uncles well be so proud" She smiled, "Come on, dinner is already being served"

I stood up and followed her down to the dining room. Dad sat at the head of the table, prepared to dig in, my aunts and uncles lined the table with my cousins. "Melinda, there you are" Aunt Emily smiled, "How's the book coming"

"Last page" I smiled.

"That's wonderful!" Aunt Willa exclaimed. "I hope we get the first copies"

"Of course" I smiled, kissed dads cheek. "Don't worry, daddy, I didn't mention the time you left me at the grocery store"

"I hope not" he chuckled.

"Well, here's to Melinda Katie Gustin, the one who tells our story!" Uncle Stephen held a glass of champagne up. I followed his lead.

"To Melinda!" Everyone cheered.

In seconds everyone was digging into their food, but I was distracted. Uncle Stephen sat in the corner of the table with Clark, Stephanie, and Angelica.

In my mind, the final page formed.

'Aunt Melissa's death was still fresh, especially in her widower's mind. But of course she would never leave us fully.

I still see her smile in the living room, gossiping with mom. I smell her perfume in the backyard, as if she's lounging with dad and Uncle Stephen. I hear her laugh, like she was laughing at a joke Uncle John made. I feel her presence as if she's beside me, reciting the memories of her time on set in Vancouver.

My aunt Melissa was an inspiration during my own times of fame. I felt a connection with her when I starred in my first Musical, and than when I went through my first divorce with an ex-co-star. She was such a help, especially when I took the role of Kara Zor-el in the rebooted Supergirl.

My mom, dad, aunt, and uncle were the heroes of Arrowverse. They were always the heroes in the stories of my childhood, and I intend to ensure they go down in history as the Unmatched family'
