I Just Cant.

Elmer walked downstairs to find Ellie sitting in the window seat, her legs pulled up to her chest, looking out into the woods, "Hey." Elmer said standing beside her. She didn't move or respond, "You okay?" He asked kneeling down to her level, "You can tell me." He rested his hand on her knee, causing her to look at him. Her face was red and puffy from crying, "Please, Ellie, tell me." He said trying to gain her trust, "Go in your room and get me the brown box under the left bed." She said. Elmer nodded and ran to get the box. When he reached the room he quickly dropped to his knees and grabbed the box. It was wooden with gold trim and fancy designs painted onto it. He cleaned off the lid and sides that were coated in dust. There was a gold label on it that read, "Ellie Jane Mohn 1884" He smirked because now he knew her full name and that how old she was, 15 only a year younger than him. He walked back downstairs to find Ellie in the same position as when he last saw her as, "I found it." He said quietly handing it to her, she quickly wound up the key and opened the lid. A sweet melody began playing and Elmer could see Ellie begin to calm down. He was fascinated at how an old music box could calm her down so quickly.
When Ellie realized that Elmer was staring at her she closed the lid, causing the song to stop, "My Dad made this before, all that happened. He made one for me, Oscar, and Morris. It took him one month to create." Elmer still sat there looking confused, "Basically, when something goes wrong and I freak out, I'd listen to this to calm me down." Elmer let out an o sound as a symbol of him understanding. Ellie placed the box on the table and looked Elmer in the eyes, "Sorry." His face looked sympathetic and he embraced Ellie in the biggest hug ever, "You know what?"
    "What?" Elmer replied
"Let's go to The Wharf for dinner." Ellie said
"Is that like Jacobi's?" He asked
"It's the local hang out, but I'll get you something else to wear so you fit in." She marches back upstairs and quickly came back down carrying a white button up shirt with a pair of black pants and shoes, "This..." She started but stopped when she saw Elmer shirtless staring back at her, "Uh, this was Oscar's it should fit you." She said throwing it at him, "I'll be outside." Elmer laughed at her reaction, "She likes it." He thought. Now, only one question remains, can he get her in one date?
