Ellie and Elmer walked hand in hand through the streets of Pennsylvania to find Ellie's favorite restaurant, The Wharf. After a few minutes they found it and sat down. They made small talk as they ate their food. Through the dinner, Elmer could tell that something was up with Ellie, she continually grabbed her stomach and only ate a small portion of her food, "Hey are you okay? Elmer asked when they began to walk through the streets under the moon light, "No." She replied,
    "Well what's wrong?" Elmer asked concerned as he stopped walking to face her,
    "I don't know." She replied,
    "Well then what's wrong?" Elmer asked, "You we're actin strange back there..." Ellie pressed her finger to his lips so that he would be quiet. Elmer was confused so he stood there quietly, "Shit. We have to go." Ellie said grabbing Elmer's hand and sprinting to the house.
    They were almost there until, a group of boys blocked their way, "Awwww look at the little New York boy." One went walking towards him. Ellie stepped in front of him, "Back off Ryan." She said, "Why babe?" Elmer's rage ensued when he called Ellie "babe" The boy then wrapped his arms around her. She tried to squirm away but he was too strong, "Elmer go!" Ellie shouted, he didn't budge.
    "Hey let her go." Elmer yelled glaring at Ryan,
    "Why Newsie trash?" He spat
    "Cuz she doesn't like ya anymore." He said giving attitude,
    "I wouldn't give me attitude little kid or else," He punches Ellie in the stomach, causing a broken scream to leave her mouth,
    "Ellie!" Elmer yelled,
    "Now Newsie you can fight my one on one or go back to where you came from and leave me and my girl alone." Ryan threatened,
    "Let her go and I will." Elmer said. The other boys began to form a ring around them as Ryan threw Ellie to the ground and walked into the circle, "ELMER NO!" Ellie yelled trying to get in there but the boys wouldn't let her pass, "ELLIE GO." Elmer said squaring up. She ran.
    The fight started with them circulating each other. Ryan threw the first punch at Elmer's jaw, he ducked out of the way. Elmer then kicked him in the knee causing him to fall. He kicked him in the side a few times before jumping on the boy and punching him in the face. After a good amount of punches Elmer stood up and counted to three. Ryan laid there, Elmer walked over and picked him up by the hair, "Stay away from Ellie." And threw him against the wall before walking away, "Elmer?" He heard a voice whisper in an alley, he decided to investigate. Ellie was leaning against the wall holding her stomach, there was blood, "My God. Ellie what happened?" Elmer asked kneeling down beside her, "Ryan's boys, they pulled out a blade." She said weakly with tears starting to fill her eyes and spill over her cheeks, "It'll be okay, I gotcha." He said wiping away her tears, "Do you want me to carry you?" He asked her. She nodded no. He still held out his hand for her to help get up. She walked only a few feet before collapsing into Elmer's arms, "It's okay." He said as he picked her up bridal style. She wrapped her arms around his neck leaving Elmer's face to become bright red, "Thank you." She said quietly, "Shhh...save your energy okay?" He said beginning to walk. She nodded into his neck and began crying again. Elmer shushed her and whispered words of encouragement all the way home, but truth be told he was terrified.
