•One Week Later•
~Courtney~
Hell, that's all I can think of now. I thought Radley was bad, but prison was much worst especially an all girls prison. At lease at Radley, I could do whatever I wanted. Here, in prison, I didn't get a choice. I didn't get to chose when I took a shower, when I ate, or anything. I wore the same thing every day, but at Radley, you could wear your own clothes if you were good. Now I was begging to go back to Radley after so many years wanting to get out.
After I was arrested, the police search our house where they found a diary that supposedly belong to me, but I haven't had a diary since I was Alison in seventh grade. Anyways, the diary talked about how obsessed I was with Chloe, even though I wasn't. Ali was, and she was the mastermind of this whole plan. I tried telling the police that, but nothing. They actually threw away my phone because they didn't believe me.
My parents, well, they were a different story. They actually believe I had nothing to do with this and I was glad of that. Except they didn't believe me when I told them Alison kidnapped Chloe. Anyways, they were finally starting to trust me again, but this wasn't the way I wanted it to happen. Once they found out I was arrested, they begged Mrs. Hastings to be my lawyer and she actually agreed. Maybe because her husband ask her to be my lawyer especially because I was his daughter, that and Spencer probably convinced her. They tried to post bail, but the judge denied it. My parents came to see me whenever they had the chance and so did Jason.
Alison came once, and it was my worst nightmare.
•Two Days Earlier•
"DiLaurentis! You have a visitor!" I heard the guard. I sighed, none of them knew our real names, just our last names. Then again, all we were to them was criminals. I heard the gate unlock and the guard stepped forward and roughly grabbed my arm then dragged me out of the cell.
We began to walk towards the area visitors where at. Is Mom here to see me again? I asked myself. Then I remember she had to work today and couldn't make, same with Dad. Jason said he had classes today, so who was it? Emily?
The guard sat me down in front of glass wall that only had a few little holes so we could actually hear each other. Then I looked up, and in front of me was a reflection of myself, but a much prettier version and who was not in a orange jumpsuit.
"Alison." I whispered.
Alison smirked, "Hello, sis. How's prison life?"
I lend back in my seat, trying to stay as far away from her. This glass wall wasn't enough for me. I need a steel wall to stay far away from her. "What do you want, Alison? You've already took my freedom, what more do you want?"
She chuckled, "I want you to rotten in hell, that's what I want, but both of us know we will never get that. Now will we?" My sister asked, but I didn't answer. "I'm finally getting what I want, what I deserve."
I quickly lend forward in my seat, "And what is that, Ali? Getting Chloe all to yourself, like a psycho bitch? Where is she, huh? Locked up in a apartment, while everyone else thinks she's dead?" I snapped. She was getting under my skin again, the one thing she was best at.
Alison's eyes darken. "What happened last week, wasn't suppose to happen. You were never suppose to find out."
I tilted my head, "Well, guess what Ali? I did. I found out how much you deserve to be locked up in Radley." My twin glared at me, but I continue. "I will found a way out of here, Alison. And when I do, I will prove to Mom and Dad that Chloe is still alive and how much you deserve to live the rest of your miserable life in here, behind bars where you belong."
"Let the games began then, Courtney."
~
Yes, I do realize I should have never said those words, but I did. She deserve to hear every last word.
Anyways, today I have another visitor and I was begging that it wasn't Ali again. Hopefully it was Emily, because I need her. I need her to find something to prove that I wasn't involved with Chloe's 'murder'. My trial was next week, and I need everything I could get to prove that I didn't kill Chloe.
The guard brought me to a very familiar visitor area and sat me down in my usual spot. I looked up and saw a very familiar face.
"Emily, oh my god, you came."
She barley smiled, "Yeah, I came."
I frown, something wasn't right with her. This wasn't the Emily I know. Then it click and I gasped. "You think I killed Chloe, don't you?" I asked her.
Emily shifted in her seat, "Maybe." She paused and looked up at me. "I mean, your ring was at the crime scene, and the diary they found."
"That diary isn't mine, Emily!" I screamed and people looked over at me like a crazy person. "I haven't had a diary since I pretended to be Ali, Em." I told her lowering my voice.
"I've seen the diary, Courtney. It's your handwriting." Emily answered.
"It isn't my-" I suddenly cut myself off and realized who wrote the diary. "Oh my god, how could I not see this before?" I asked myself.
Emily looked at me confused, "What?"
"When Ali and I were in the fourth grade. I came home for the weekend, it was the only time Ali and I didn't get in a fight. One day, we decided to practice writing each other's names. We perfected writing our names and when we showed our parents, they couldn't tell who wrote who." I explained to her. I took in a deep breath and continued. "When we switched, I quickly remember how she wrote her name, how she looped her 'L's, everything."
Emily was still looking at me confuse, "Then who wrote the diary?"
"Alison did."
(I was going to end it right there, but I decide to keep going for you guys)
I lend forward in my seat, "Em, I need you to find something to prove that I was with you in the house the night Chloe went missing. If you find something, the police will go back over the diary and compare it." I looked at Emily, who looked unsure about doing it. "Emily, please. I can't stay here knowing Ali has Chloe."
Emily was quiet for a long time before she nodded. "Okay, I'll do it."
I smiled at her, "Thank you so much Em. You don't realize how much this means to me."
~Emily~ (this is going to be interesting)
After visiting Courtney and hearing what she's has to say about everything. I decided to go to Spencer house. I noticed her Mom's car in driveway, which you usually don't see, but I guess with Courtney's case, she needed to be home. I went to the back door where I saw Spencer sitting on the couch with a blanket across her legs and her nose in a book. I knocked on the door and she looked up at me then waved, telling me to come in. I opened the door and enter the house.
"Hey, what's up?" She asked me before she moved her legs and made room on the couch for me.
I sat down on the couch next to her. "I need your help."
Spencer put down her book, "What do you need?"
I looked at my friend, "Before I ask you, do you think Courtney killed Chloe?"
She quickly shook her head, "No, and neither does my parents."
"Why?" I asked her. "Why do you think she didn't kill Chloe?"
Spencer sighed, "Em, do you think she did?" She asked me and I nodded. "Emily, the police think Courtney did it, not only because of the evidence, but because her past."
I looked her confused, "What do you mean?"
"Courtney showed up out of no where. The DiLaurentis never talked about her or had pictures with her. Because she showed up out of no where, the police are going by her file from Radley and what's the first thing that pops up?"
I thought about it for a second before answering, "She tried to kill Ali." I answered and Spencer nodded. "But she didn't, Ali did."
"But the police don't know that. They're going back what they see." Spence paused. "My mom plans on using some of the doctors from Radley and give a statement about Courtney not showing signs of hurting anyone."
"Do you think it will work?" I asked her.
Spencer shook her head, "No, because my mom doesn't have anything to prove Courtney didn't kill Chloe. Plus that journal they found didn't help."
"I think I might know a way to prove she wasn't involved." I told her.
"Well, you better start talking because your girlfriend is looking at life in prison."
"Does your lake house have an alarm, or something?" I questioned.
Spencer shook her head, "No, but two summers ago, someone broke into the house and stole a few things, so my mom had a security camera system put in." She reached down to the coffee table and grabbed her laptop. "We can look at them from my computer if you want."
I quickly nodded and Spencer opened up her computer. She typed in a few things, until pictures of familiar pictures showed up. "Wait, is there camera's in every room?"
She nodded, "Yeah, is that a problem?" I gulped, but shook my head. "Okay, so Chloe went missing about a month ago and you and Courtney were at the house, right?" I nodded, and she typed in a little more, until the day Courtney and I arrived at the house. Spencer pressed one more button so the film was fast forwarding. "Okay, so I guess we have to watch."
I gulped again, "Um, Spence there might be things you don't want to watch."
Spencer's head turned to me, "Did you two..." She trailed off, but I nodded. "Well, I think it's best we skip that part."
~
We watched the camera's for over an hour and nothing happened. We just pass the part with Courtney and I whole sex scene, and we were now sleeping. I sighed, "This is useless, we won't find anything." I complained.
"Shh!" Spencer snapped. "We need to find something."
Suddenly, the camera at the back door caught a glimpse of a figure. It was obviously a woman, but you couldn't actually make out all of her features, only her dark clothing which consist of a black hoodie, black gloves, and black pants. Spencer quickly pushed the button to play the video at its normal speed. The woman was able to unlock the back door, even though it was lock shut.
The woman walked through the house like she knew it from the back of her head. She went up the stairs and into the room that Courtney and me where in. The mystery girl walk over to Courtney's nightstand and took something from it and put it inside a bag.
"Wait, back up, before she grabbed it." I told Spencer. She quickly rewind it to the part before the woman grabbed the object. "Pause it and zoom in where she grabbed the object."
Spencer zoomed into the nightstand and I finally was able to figure out what the woman grabbed. I gasped and placed my hand over my mouth. "Oh my god, she grabbed Courtney's ring. The one that was found at Chloe's murder scene."
Spencer zoomed out of the nightstand and pushed play. The woman zipped up the bag, and looked up, right at the camera. Spencer and I quickly realized who it was, and gasped.
"Oh my god, she's the one behind this." Spencer commented.
I looked over at Spencer, "Courtney was right," I glanced back at the screen. "Alison is behind this."
Spencer turned and faced me and smirked. I looked at her confused, "What?"
Spencer chuckled, "The only way to out smart a Hastings is with Hastings."
