Epilogue
-Camp Half-Blood, Earth; A Few Days after the Army of Chaos Left-
~3rd Person's Point of View~
"So basically the Percy Jackson we all knew was an illusion of who he would have been if he wasn't kidnapped at age seven. Did I get that right?" Rachel Elizabeth Dare asked the gathered demigods who nodded. "And the unit leaders are dead demigods who died in the last few years. Percy, the real Percy Jackson, is Chaos' assassin. Plus the head commander was the host of Kronos. How did all of this happen while I was on vacation?"
"It would have been nice to consult you on what was happening." Annabeth smiled weakly.
"I only wish that we could have talked to the real Percy Jackson." Jason brought up, laying back in the sand on the beach.
"Yeah, to think we met someone who doesn't exist..." Frank frowned, staring out at the water.
A sudden shout interrupted the pity party. "Nico!" Running toward the group was a grinning Bianca di Angelo.
"Bianca?" Nico jumped up, racing toward his older sister.
"Huh," Rachel said.
"What?" Piper asked.
The oracle merely smiled. "Oh, I forgot to tell you. I had this dream while I was away. I didn't think it was a vision of the future until just now."
"And the dream was...?" Leo looked up from his panel of wiring he was working on.
"I did not think it would take this long to get back here." A new voice commented.
"Silena?" Annabeth stood up, staring at the unit 4 leader.
"Hi, Annabeth." She smiled. "Piper, Jason, Leo, Frank, Hazel, and Rachel Elizabeth Dare." Silena Beauregard greeted them all.
"What are you doing here?" Piper asked her half-sister.
"Oh, since you know who we are, Chaos gave us permission to visit from time to time." She answered.
"That's not exactly what happened." Charles Beckendorf interjected, walking up to his girlfriend.
"Shh, you'll ruin the surprise." She smiled mischievously.
"What surprise?" Hazel spoke up, glancing over at her half-siblings.
"Why was I dragged here?" Ethan Nakamura asked, stumbling from behind the couple. "Ugh, I hate traveling like that."
"You would think you would be used to it by now." Zoe Nightshade commented, looking down at the 5th unit leader. Ethan glared at her.
Annabeth took in their appearance, realizing they were wearing casual clothing. "You're not here on Chaos' Army business, are you?"
"No," Bianca answered, walking over with her brother. "We came here to hang out."
"Hang out?" Leo repeated in confusion.
"Where's Luke?" Annabeth blurted out.
The unit leaders shared a look of hesitation. Silena sighed. "He's visiting his mother right now."
"And we think Percy went with him." Bianca grinned. The five leaders soon started laughing.
"That's great." The Oracle of Delphi said with a smile. "Lunch should be starting soon if you want to join us." The five agreed and they all headed to the dining pavilion as the conch horn sounded.
Soon the topic of conversation was about the head commander of Chaos' Army and Chaos' assassin. It's a funny story. When the army was called back to Planet TO, they were met with a frazzled Chaos, an exasperated Tartarus, and a half-awake son of Poseidon who was floating in a pool of water. It would have been fine if the water wasn't pink - almost a red - in color.
Important conversations took place. The unit leaders talked things over and had forgiven one another. Luke Castellan tried retreating into himself as guilt over his actions hit him. The others were not having it. Agreeing to join the army was a fresh start for them all.
Then about a week later, Percy Jackson showed up in the meeting room when the unit leaders and head commander were bonding (because yelling and threats of bodily harm had to be a demigods version of bonding, right?). Silence filled the room until Luke broke down asking the assassin why he chose him. His answer? "Because if I could have a second chance at life after falling into despair, then you deserve one too, Luke."
It didn't take long for the regrets to be voiced. Chaos overhearing his leaders gave them all the choice to visit their friends and family.
A few weeks passed before they worked up the courage to go back. In that time, they made sure to finish any task that was needed of them. Zoe Nightshade was the first one to go. She visited Artemis and her hunters. Artemis, who was allowed to be with her hunters following the events of the war with Erebus, was filled with joy seeing her old friend again. Phoebe and Bianca joined shortly after.
Bianca di Angelo first went to her father in the underworld before appearing at Camp Half-Blood. She was able to spend time with Hades and even got to talk with her mother's spirit. She wanted to spend more time with her little brother, half-sister, and the other children of the big three.
Charles Beckendorf did the same. He took the time to pick his father's brain for a few projects, then surprisingly went with Silena to go see her mother before they arrived at Camp Half-Blood. He was looking forward to
Silena Beauregard popped into Hephaestus' workshop to take her boyfriend to see her mother, Aphrodite. After having tea with her, they came to Camp Half-blood. Silena really wanted to get to know her half-sister, Piper, some more.
Ethan Nakamura had nothing else to say to his mother, so he waited until the others made it to Camp Half-Blood before joining them. He wanted to talk to Jason who agreed to honor the minor gods. Ethan didn't want what happened to him to happen to someone else.
As for Luke Castellan, he became close to Chaos' assassin. They often met up to discuss the army and plans for the future. One day Luke brought up his mother. Percy paused before admitting he wanted to see his own mother as well. It took time, but together they worked up the courage to face the women who raised them. Mostly raised them as Luke ran away at nine and Percy was taken at age seven.
They chose to see May Castellan first. It was emotional as she wasn't doing too well until Percy stepped forward and helped ease her pain with a gift he got from Chaos. Dealing with a curse from Hades was nothing to Chaos' assassin. The tearful reunion was relieving to all parties involved. Hades even stopped in to apologize when he was notified what had happened. Chaos was also able to get Hermes to come by for a few hours. It was awkward at first, but things were good by the end.
Then came the time when Percy Jackson went home. Luke was dragged along as emotional support like how Percy was Luke's when seeing May. Meeting Sally Jackson was an experience. Hearing her son's story, almost broke the poor woman. Although Percy is still scarred physically, emotionally, and mentally he has made progress since he overcame the hurdle known as Erebus after him. Percy was able to meet his step-father, Paul, and his baby sister. Poseidon joined the reunion later when he heard his son was back on Earth. Promises were made of future visits and meeting the unit leaders. And the goodbyes hurt, but they were more to see you laters than a final goodbye.
By the end of the day, Luke was able to see Thalia, Annabeth, and Grover. They talked it all out. Punches were given, a judo flip happened, tears, and laughter were shared. Things were looking bright for the demigods.
Although Reyna caught wind of what happened when she confronted Frank and Hazel on why they were at Camp Half-Blood for so long. Explanations were given with MORE promises from the leaders of Chaos' army to visit the Roman camp, Camp Jupiter.
And that's where this story ends. Annabeth thought, gazing out to the water. Sadly, there was no sign of Chaos' assassin.
"Annabeth." Until now.
Annabeth turned around to smile at the assassin behind her. While she had dated the fake Percy Jackson, maybe she could get to know this version of him. Because even though he's an assassin, he's still a seaweed brain. The son of Poseidon who became the unknown assassin of Chaos.
"Percy."
Yes, this story has ended, however, a new story can begin.
1...
And that marks the end of this story. Wow, the amount of tears I had cried for the last three story parts.
I am beyond grateful for all of the love that you all have shown this book. I hope I did it well in the end.
I know that not everything is tied in a neat little bow for the end of the story, but this is all I was able to do. Maybe one day I will come back and make a sequel. Who knows.
Thank you again for reading, voting, and commenting. I appreciate it all!
