Chapter Two
-Camp Half-Blood, Earth; Minutes Later-
The peaceful that the Greek camp was known for (at times, because honestly, with Hermes' kids around nothing stays peaceful) was clouded with sadness.
No one understood what was happening. The last time the Son of Poseidon had disappeared in the night, Lady Hera kidnapped him for a plan she had in the war against Gaea.
Now, the leaders of the camp are away as they stormed Olympus to see if the gods knew where their missing resident of cabin three is.
Perhaps he went on an evening swim and forgot to leave a note. That sounds like something the son of the sea would do.
But, no, if that was the case then everything leading up to this point in time would be proven false. Especially, concerning the Army of Chaos. Because everyone knows, the main army was created around the same time Kosmos had became an assassin for Chaos.
That happened about 3,000 years ago.
Before then, no one knows where Kosmos came from. Until now that is, which brings us to where the Chaos' army and camp leaders find themselves falling out of a portal.
"Ow, Hesper!" Nyke cried out. "Why did you do that?" He rubbed his now bright red arm that held most of a handprint on it.
"I told you before! You need to warn us when you decide to make a portal!" Hesper glared at him.
"I agree with Hesper, you need to warn us as you don't have enough practice to safely transport more than six of us." Vernandos calmly explained as he stood up from the ground and helped Charis up.
That's when Nyke noticed the camp leaders and the rest of the unit leaders groaning on the ground. "Oops..." He smiled sheepishly in apology.
Clarisse stood up with a harsh glare. "Never do that again, Punk! I don't care that you're a commander of Chaos! Never. Do. That. Again." She snarled before stalking away and down Half-Blood Hill.
"Well, that went better than expected!" Leo grinned cheerfully.
Everyone gave him disbelieving looks.
"I couldn't agree with you more, Son of Hephaestus." The emotionless voice of Kosmos made even the head commander of Chaos' Army jump.
Leo Valdez ended up falling to the ground, screaming on top of his lungs.
That's when the campers stopped what they were doing and ran to the hill, prepared for a monster attack. They quickly realize there wasn't a monster attack, but seven cloaked figures along with their camp leaders.
Chiron galloped toward the front of the confused half-bloods. "What is going on here?" He asked, tail flickering nervously at the sight of the seven unknown figures.
Travis and Connor finally couldn't take it anymore. Their laughter filled the air as Leo stopped having his heart attack. "Dude, that was awesome!"
"Way to scare the Hades out of Leo!" Connor spoke as his brother went back to his laughing fit.
"You do realize he's an assassin, right?" Katie asked, causing the atmosphere to turn cold.
Nyke cleared his throat and turned to Chiron. "To answer your question, Chiron. My name is Nyke, Head Commander of Chaos' Army. These five-" He gestures to the until leaders, who waved or say 'hi'. "-are Chaos' unit leaders and the one in the all black cloak is Kosmos, Chaos' personal assassin."
Hearing the word assassin, everyone tensed and kept their hands on their weapons in case of an attack.
Although, having to fight Chaos' assassin would not end well for the campers of Camp Half-Blood.
Nyke frowned. Kosmos wasn't that bad. Yes, he teases the assassin after almost all of his assignments, but that doesn't mean anything is wrong with Kosmos.
The Head Commander only teases him to get a response out of the emotionless man.
Fearing him wouldn't do anyone any good. The assassin isn't all that bad, at least, that's what Nyke thinks.
"Why are you here?!" An Apollo camper yelled out.
"We are here to help you win the war." Milos explained.
"What war?" Chiron asked, fearing for the lives of his students. Three wars happening within three years of each other. Granted, the Titan War happened over the course of about four years until the final battle; that's still three wars in such a short time of each other.
"A war is starting between a primordial and the Olympians. Your hero, Perseus Jackson, was the first of many casualties." Kosmos clarified.
"What?!"
"What do you mean by that?!"
"How come you never said anything before now?!"
"Percy's dead?" Annabeth's small, broken voice broke through the yelling. "And you didn't say anything?"
Percy Jackson has been dead for years now...your memories of him are false...but I can't tell you that now can I? Kosmos thought to himself.
"There is a reason why I became Chaos' assassin, and it's not for the reason that what you think it is. His army was created for this war. Chaos started to realize there was someone else in the background as you battled both Kronos and Gaea, growing stronger and stronger with a plan to topple Olympus." He summarized, not actually answering the daughter of Athena's questions.
"I didn't know that." Nyke felt betrayed by that fact that Chaos told Kosmos this and not him.
And he wasn't the only one thinking that. Hesper was the first one in the army. The first leader to be announced. She was one of the first soldiers. Why didn't she know the real reason she was brought into Chaos' army?
...there are many things you do not know, Huntress...and Chaos has hidden everything from you...he brought you in because you were needed...or that's what he wanted you to think...
Hesper frowned but kept quiet about the voice inside her head. She didn't recognize it and did not want to say anything in front of the campers until she talked to, at least, Commander Nyke about it.
"You didn't know the reason why your army was created?" Hazel asked, confused on how that could happen.
"Chaos' Army." Nyke corrected, his mind elsewhere. .
"But you are the Head Commander?" Frank's statement sounded more like a question.
"Yes, but-"
"It doesn't matter." Kosmos paused, seemingly trying get remain calm. "What matters is the fact that we are here to help you-"
"Help us?" Annabeth bit down a sob. "You haven't even told us what happened to Percy!"
Kosmos stilled.
It was like what happened in the meeting room all over again. Nothing seemed to be wrong on the outside, but something changed in Kosmos.
"We don't know what happened to Perseus." With those blunt words, the assassin left by walking into the woods of Camp Half-Blood.
Nyke stared at his retreating form, worried about the assassin who had been with Chaos for the longest. In the midst of the secrets, his own story didn't seem nearly as bad as Kosmos'...
Chiron cleared his throat. "Perhaps we should get you all settled in."
Well, this chapter didn't go the way I wanted it to, mostly because I think I lost sight of a few things throughout.
I'm not sure if this was a good chapter or not. If you have any suggestions for next chapter that would be appreciated. Thanks!
Until next time!
