Chapter Twenty One
-Camp Half-Blood, Earth; Interlude Narration-
~3rd Person's Point of View~
In the beginning of this story of Chaos' Army Head Commander, five Unit leaders, and the mysterious assassin there was another character that played an important role. His name is Jawgeur Quelter. He appeared in the Forest of Kilobe on Planet Kilo. That's where Kosmos found him anyway. His birth planet is unknown. The most important piece of information that can be found on Quelter is his special ability.
That special ability? It's the one Chaos had him use on Xander before he became Kosmos. Back when Xander was in need of help. Chaos decided to turn to the war criminal turned informant Jawgeur Quelter to start the healing process for his soon-to-be assassin.
What came after for the aforementioned healing process? The Army of Chaos. With the Head Commander and Unit Leaders carefully handpicked by Chaos as time went on.
Chaos' Army was created around 11,000 years before the current war against an unknown enemy. Kosmos was the reason for its creation. Why? Because Kosmos was taken from his mortal parent 11 years ago in Earth years and was subjected to torture for years before Chaos found him.
Since then, Chaos has been trying to heal the broken shell of the child who was stolen from his prophesied fate. A fate which even with the interventions is still on its way to come true.
The Assassin of Chaos will be the one to defeat a primordial god.
-Dining Pavilion, Camp Half-Blood; Back to the Present-
~Bianca's (Malantha's) Point of View~
One moment I was smiling and talking with my two siblings, the next moment was when fires broke out. Flames licked the treetops, screams breaking out. I looked over to Hesper who was usually in charge when Nyke wasn't around. She gave me a sharp nod. I nodded back.
"Bi-Malantha?" Nico's voice broke me out of my unit leader's headspace.
I smiled a bit at my (not so much anymore) baby brother. "Don't worry, I have to go meet up with the others. If you can summon an army of the undead and gather water that would help us greatly. Yes, I know what you're capable of as I've been keeping an eye on you." I laughed, ruffling his hair.
"Malantha!"
"Coming!" I yelled back. "I'll see you afterwards. Both of you." I promised before racing over towards Hesper.
-Outside of the Dining Pavilion, Camp Half-Blood; Meanwhile-
~Nyke's Point of View~
I cursed colorfully in every language I know as Milos and I rushed to the edge of the woods outside of the dining pavilion.
"What could have even happened?!"
"This is the enemy's doing." Milos and I screeched, jumping away from the sudden appearance of Kosmos running up behind us.
"Kosmos!" I held my chest, willing my heart to stop pounding. "You are going to kill me one of these days!" Milos snickered a little.
I glared at him before turning back to the assassin once the previously spoken words registered in my mind. "Do you know why the enemy is setting the woods on fire?"
Kosmos stared off into the distance. "Setting the fire wasn't intentional. The head of Cabin 9 and unit 3's leader accidently set it as they were almost killed by the enemy."
"What?!" Milos and I exclaimed. "Where are they?" I asked, feeling anxious at the thought of Vernandos getting hurt. 'Charis will kill me if something happens to him...'
"Towards the back of the woods, there's a hidden base that Cabin 9 created years ago called Bunker 9."
"How do you know that?" Milos asked. Our previous conversation came to mind. Could Kosmos - Xander - have been a camper here? I don't recall someone named Xander from when I was here...
"I didn't know about Bunker 9 until after I was a part of the army..." I mumbled under my breath.
Kosmos tilted his head. "I found out about it when Leo Valdez found it during the war against Gaea. We should go now." He took off without a second thought. Milos and I looked at each other before following after.
What happened with Vernandos and Leo Valdez? And did Kosmos just call someone by their name and not their title?
-Bunker 9, Camp Half-Blood; Back When Percy Jackson Came to Bunker 9-
~Vernandos' (Charles') Point of View~
"Hey, Leo." It sounded like Percy Jackson, but something was telling me that this was not the Son of Poseidon. A feeling of wrong was telling me to be on guard.
"Percy Jackson, right?" I asked, not letting my half-brother reply. I reached behind my back to grab my hammer.
He turned to me, grinning like he used to. There was still something off about it. "Yeah, you're one of Chaos' unit leaders, right?"
"Yeah." I nodded, taking off my hood. "Hey, Perce. Do you remember what you asked me to keep quiet about before I died?"
Percy only blinked. His movements, his breathing, slowed down. He blinked again owlishly. "Didn't you die?" The way he said that made me tense. It sounded more like-
"Percy?" Leo asked, walking forward. "What's wrong? Are you possessed by an eidolon?" He reached down into his toolbelt. "No, Piper made sure that we wouldn't be possessed by them again. Who are you?" An celestial hammer appeared in his hand.
I raised an eyebrow. "A magic toolbelt?"
"A magic toolbelt." Leo grinned, looking like a mischievous elf.
"Enough." The word was layered with Percy's voice and another. A deeper voice that sounded much older. His face was growing darker as if shadows were covering his face. "I wanted to kill one of the seven, however, I will be satisfied with a unit leader as well. Any last words?"
"Yeah," Leo responded. "Eat hammer." He threw the hammer at the unknown enemy.
A moment passed. "Was that supposed to hit me?" Percy's body asked. The two layered voices deepened until it was only one voice. Leo's hammer had missed its target and hit the wall next to the entrance instead. "Brave words for a dead mortal."
"I died once!" Leo called out from his place by Festus' head. "Been there, done that. Rather live instead now that I have people to live for." He announced, hand moving to a switch that was sitting on the table in front of him. "I suggest you move, Beckendorf! You don't want to again, do you?"
I quickly moved out of the way as he moved the switch in a series of directions. Nothing happened at first until a light started to shine from the switch. Then a beam shot out, hitting not-Percy straight in the chest causing him to fly back.
That's when the switch caught on fire, lighting up Bunker 9 in flames.
"Oh, schist!"
RANDOM UPDATE MONDAY!
I am currently working on chapter 24 and, wow, poor Nyke. Dude is having a not so good time. No one is having a good time.
Reveals will be happening. Questions are being answered. The next few chapters are writing themselves. We are getting to the last stretch of this book. I still don't know how many chapters there will be, but I am making in my goal to finish this book before June 21st; the first day of summer.
That way I can focus on my two (final) Percy Jackson projects, then I will be saying goodbye to this fandom.
After that I will be hyper focused on my original paperback sequel. Then, I have a few other fandoms I will be writing for.
Thank you so much for all of the support and love.
Until Saturday's (or maybe sooner) chapter (or two, you never know because I don't).
