Chapter One
-Planet TO; Throne/Meeting Room-
"Kosmos is from Earth?" Commander Nyke asked from his throne-like chair (Chaos really likes to have throne-like chairs for his higher-ups...) that's on the right side of Chaos' in the center of the room sat at a rectangle table.
The order goes Chaos on the end with Nyke, Malantha (Unit 2 Leader), Charis (Unit 4 Leader) on the right side of the table and facing them on the left side is Hesper (Unit 1 Leader), Vernandos (Unit 3 Leader), and Milos (Unit 5 Leader).
"The better question to ask is, The Assassin was a demigod at Camp Half-Blood?" Hesper asked after a moment of waiting for Chaos to respond.
They all looked to Chaos for the answers, unfortunately, he wasn't going to tell them everything. "I can't reveal Kosmos' past-"
"I have a right to know about-" Nyke argued before the double doors of the meeting room burst open.
The air grew dark and cold as Kosmos walked forward to the empty end of the table on the other side of Chaos. The army leaders stared at the assassin in confusion.
"What are you-" Charis started to ask.
"Lord Chaos, Perseus Jackson disappeared from the Greek camp last night without a trace." Kosmos spoke with no emotion that sent shivers down everyone's spines, even Chaos'.
Vernandos' eyes widened in shock and horror. "Percy? He's gone?"
Milos turned to his left to look at him. "You know Percy, Vernandos?"
Chaos sighed. "This is happening faster than I thought." He ignored the fact that most of his leaders didn't know the past lives of each other.
"Respectfully, My Lord. It has been brewing for the last 11,000 years." Kosmos spoke up again.
Everyone looked over at the assassin to see if his body language would give anything away, unsurprisingly, they didn't see anything.
"What has a war have to do with Percy?" Charis questioned, feeling upset that he had gone missing again. Yes, the demigods in the army knew about the Giant War. They even know about Tartarus.
The demigod leaders were thinking about the rumor of Percy's time in Tartarus, not knowing that Kosmos flinched internally at the thought.
If only they knew...
They can't know... A small part of Kosmos spoke.
"Kosmos, I need you to go on this mission and help the demigods. Can you do that?" Chaos asked, starting at his assassin intensely.
Silence reigned over the room.
"Kosmos?" Malantha called his name in concern. "Are you okay?"
There was no physical indication that something was wrong, but Malantha feels as if Kosmos was almost...afraid.
The Assassin of Chaos stared at her. His clothes covering every single part of his body, a mask over his mouth and nose, and his hood covering his eyes in shadows. Nothing of the assassin gave anything away other than the feeling of nothing. "I am fine, Unit 2 Leader."
It was a typical response. He always calls them by their leader titles, even though they have names. More like code names, but still, they had names.
"When do we leave?" Hesper asked Chaos, bringing the conversation away from Kosmos.
Chaos' eyes glanced over all of his leaders, trying to understand if them participating in this war would be worth all the suffering that was bound to ensure.
His eyes found Kosmos', and in that moment, Chaos realizes that not only did his assassin needed to go back to Camp Half-Blood but so do the rest of his leaders.
"There is a meeting happening now on Olympus. You have five minutes to get ready. Units 1 and 5 will arrive at Camp Half-Blood at a later time."
-Throne Room, Olympus; Meanwhile-
Annabeth Chase was not having a good day. She woke up, went to her boyfriend's cabin, and found out that he was missing again.
Her and the rest of the camp leaders talked to everyone they could, but no one had any idea on where Percy could be.
So here she was along with the other camp counselors, plus Hazel and Frank, walking through Olympus to get to the throne room in attempt to question the gods on what happened to their friend.
Once there, Annabeth threw the doors open, ignoring everyone around her and focusing on Hera. "Where is he?!" The Daughter of Athena demanded.
The gods were speechless. "How dare you-"
"Zeus, let's hear them out." Poseidon spoke up. "What is it, Annabeth?"
Hearing Poseidon's voice, Annabeth turned to look at him and started to cry as she was reminded of Percy. She fell to the ground, sobbing uncontrollably.
The gods blinked at the Heroine of Olympus, while some of the demigods rushed forward to comfort her. Piper started to whisper soothing words in her ear, holding her tightly.
"Annabeth?" Athena was concerned for her normally strong daughter. "What happened?" She addressed towards the other demigods as she walked to her daughter's side.
Frank, Hazel (who are visiting), Piper, Jason, and Leo shared a look. Piper answered Athena's question after a minute. "We can't find Percy." She turned to the other shock gods. "Do you know where he is?"
The Olympians were in a shocked silence. Between glances to each other and glares, Zeus finally spoke up again. "We had nothing to do with Perseus' disappearance." Annabeth choked on a sob at the news.
Everyone grew silent. Hestia smiled sadly and conjured up chairs for all the demigods. With small smiles and thanks, the camp counselors and the remaining seven took a seat.
All that was heard in the throne room is Annabeth's crying, Athena soothing her daughter, and the gods' mental conversation between each other. Though you can't hear the last one.
A throat cleared at the entrance of the room. Everyone looked to see a middle-aged man wearing a black cloak that allowed him to be hidden in the throne room shadows. "I may be able to help with your current situation, Daughter of Athena."
"Who are you?" Athena demanded, standing up to protective her daughter.
The stranger smiled. It seemed that the only thing that can be seen under the hood is his mouth. "My name is Chaos."
"Chaos?" Annabeth stuttered, wide-eyed.
"Yes, Daughter of Athena." His smile never wavered as he walked out of the shadows. "I'm here to help you-"
"Can you help us find Percy?" Thalia cut in, her eyes showing her inner turmoil.
Chaos frowned sadly. "I'm sorry, Thalia Grace. I don't know where he is."
"How is that possible?" Athena questioned with furrowed eyebrows. Her eyes searched Chaos for any deceit, only to see his tired and worn expression. "You truly do not know where he is?"
Chaos shook his head. "Perseus' current location is unknown to me." The room grew silent with the tension rising. "But, I do come with a solution to the war that is starting."
"What war? What does a war have to do with my son's disappearance?" Poseidon looked worried, glancing at Hera suspiciously.
"It wasn't Hera who took your son this time, Poseidon." Chaos confirmed. "The war I am talking about is between Olympus and a primordial. They are the one who is responsible for your son's disappearance."
Annabeth was shocked. "Which-which primordial?" Don't be Tartarus. Don't be Tartarus. Please don't be Tartarus...
Chaos smiled sadly as if he read her thoughts. He probably had to be honest. "We don't know who it is exactly."
"We?" Piper asked, still comforting Annabeth as the daughter of Athena's world continued to crumple without Percy.
"Yes, Daughter of Aphrodite, we." The creator of the universe snapped his fingers, creating a pulsing black and spotted white portal. It reminded the occupants of the room of a night sky.
Out of the portal came six figures. Each one wearing the same kind of cloak as Chaos.
The first figure stepped forward and bowed. Many noticed that his cloak had a baby blue trim. "Hello, my name is Nyke. I am the head commander of Chaos' army." He straightened up from his bow, taking a step back.
"Lord Chaos has an army?" Hestia quietly spoke from where she sat at her hearth.
Another cloaked figure snorted.
"Sorry about him," A female this time apologized sending what looked to be a glare at the one who laughed. "Lord Chaos wishes to not be called 'Lord'." There were some scattered laughs from the others. Chaos just sent them a glare, acting as if this was a daily occurrence. Maybe it was.
"My name is Hesper, I am the leader of the first unit." She introduced herself with a small bow. Her cloak had a silver trim.
The next one who came forward was wearing a cloak with a purple trim. "I am Malantha, the leader of Unit 2." She bowed with a warm smile.
"Vernandos, third unit leader." He bowed and nodded in greeting. His had an orange trim.
"I'm Charis, leader of Unit 4." She bowed gracefully. Hers had a pink trim.
"Milos, leader of the fifth unit." He gave a bow. And finally his trim was gold.
"These are the head leaders of my army. I will also be sending Units 1 and 5 once they get settled into Camp Half-Blood." Chaos announced.
"What about Camp Jupiter?" Jason asked, worried about the camp that raised him.
"They aren't after Camp Jupiter." A cold voice interjected. The atmosphere grew colder and many couldn't help the shudder of fear that ran down their backs, not even the gods.
When Milos heard the voice he became angry. "Why is he here?" He pointed to the new figure that was cloaked in all black clothing that stood next to the creator.
"Yeah, Chaos, why weren't we informed of Kosmos joining us on this mission?" Commander Nyke questioned respectfully.
"Because I didn't actually think he would have came to help...at least not this early..." Chaos muttered to himself, forgetting that everyone in the room could hear him.
"I'm here because of Chaos." The assassin replied.
"I asked him to be here." Chaos sighed. "I'm sorry, Nyke, but you are going to need the help of Kosmos."
Nyke nodded.
"How can an assassin help us?" Charis asked.
"An assassin?" Leo exclaimed. "Awesome!" The Stoll brothers chimed in.
"No, not awesome. Why an assassin?" Clarisse demanded, taking out her spear.
"Relax, Daughter of Ares. If I wanted to kill you, you would be dead." Kosmos stated.
Ares stood up. "What did you say, Punk?"
The Assassin of Chaos only stood there, silent.
"Kosmos!" Chaos scolded after a few more moments passed. "Enough."
The assassin bowed. "My apologies, Lord Chaos." His voice came out as forced.
Chaos softened and nodded.
Everyone, aside from the two, were confused on what had happened for Chaos to react that way. No one dared to speak their questioning thoughts as the assassin's body language spoke volumes.
It spoke of the danger that could come from any missteps with the assassin.
"Commander Nyke, I must take my leave now. Don't worry Kosmos will listen to you and the other leaders. Kosmos isn't as bad as everyone thinks he is." With those words, Chaos left the throne room in silence.
Well, this has certainly taken me almost a year to finish. I started writing this chapter last August and here I am, now finishing it before I jump into the shower and I turn in for the night because I have work in the morning (and all day).
I think I'm getting back into the groove of writing. And I am so sorry this took so long to finish. I'm slowly working through some weird writer's block that has been plaguing me since last year.
I don't know when the next chapter will be out, but until then, I hope you are enjoying this story so far!
