What kind of God created the universe?

What kind of God created the universe?

I realize that this question is inherently a religious one. However, an understanding of what God is and how He operates may shed light on why we're here and why the universe is the way it is. I like to think of this as my essay on a logical approach to theology.

First of the all there are some God concepts that can be derived from our understanding of what makes the universe work. When you get right down to it, the truth is that matter is in essence condensed energy. This goes back to Einstein's famous equation that Energy equals mater times the speed of light squared. The units for this equation are Energy in Joules, mass in kilograms and the speed of light is 299,792,458 meters per second. A Joule is one-kilogram times meters per second squared. If you look at the speed of light number, this equation shows that there's lot of energy in a little bit of mass. That's what the physicists knew when they created an atomic bomb. The bottom line is that matter is a lot of condensed down energy. Therefore, the universe represents an unbelievable amount of energy, which supposedly popped into existence at the Big Bang event. In other words God had to be able to control an enormous amount of energy. This means that God is all-powerful, or you could say that He's infinitely powerful, which means that He's omnipotent.

The next thing that we know about this creator God is that He has an unbelievably complicated intelligence, which some call omniscient or all knowing. The reason this conclusion can be made is because of the exquisitely complex nature of matter and energy. Just try to understand quantum physics and you'll realize how clever God is. It's so complex we still don't understand it, and probably never will understand it completely.

We also know that God cannot exist in the usual time-space continuum that we do. God has to exist outside time and space, but He could be in our continuum at the same time. In other words, God could exist everywhere at the same time, which brings up the possibility that God exists as a quantum-like (God can not be any form of normal or quantum matter) being that's in an infinite realm. That would suggest that God is both tiny and huge at the same time. That's a hard concept to understand, but it could be derived from the idea of existence in a higher plane. Religion calls this kind of existence spiritual or supernatural. That doesn't explain what it means. All we know is that it's not like our existence, which is finite and subject to the ravages of entropy.

There can only be one God. If there were more, it would represent a conflict. Christians have developed the concept that God has three persons. This does not mean that God is three gods, but rather that the one God can be seen in a Biblical sense as being manifested in three distinct personalities: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. This doesn't follow from any logical theory but is rather a mystery. Despite the concept of God the Father, God has no gender. Gender is a property of sexual beings. God is not sexual. The image of God as an old gray haired, bearded man in robes is just that--a popular image. Since God is transcendent (beyond human experience or knowledge), He could never be photographed or even physically described (this doesn't seem to stop people from trying it). I use the male pronoun because most people accept this. Actually, God is more feminine because of giving birth and treating us like children, in many cases naughty children. Only a mother could love us.

God cannot be corruptible, which means that He is not subject to the ravages of entropy like we are. The reason for this is that God doesn't exist in a timeline like we do, and without time entropy doesn't work. God's existence is pure and unassailable. He cannot be destroyed or overcome either physically or by deception. This is opposed to the idea that God can be influenced by our actions, that He can become angry, happy or sad. These are human emotions and no supreme being could have them. We get angry and do bad things. God never does bad things; therefore He cannot be angry. God by His very perfection is pure goodness. He cannot be sad or depressed. When we sin, we think that it makes God sad or angry. That's not possible. We make ourselves sad and depressed because of sin. That's why God tells us not to sin because He knows that it makes us sad and depressed, and the truth is that He doesn't want us to be sad or depressed. I say this because some people think that when God is angry He causes us grief. That's not possible. Bad things happen to us because of accident or by bad decisions on our part. God doesn't cause problems or grief because it would violate the idea that He is perfectly good. This is in conflict with the idea that God delivers wrath. Only we can express wrath. People that use God as an excuse to kill are not representatives of God but rather misguided about what God really is. Destroying life is evil and God is not evil and will never kill.

The question is: how could such a being exist? Where did God come from? The answer is that God is pure existence. He always was and is. He had no beginning and will have no end because He doesn't exit in time. Therefore, God didn't come from anywhere. He is always everywhere. It's as if His existence is in everything. This is in opposition to the idea that God is a separate being and it brings into question the very concept of existence. God doesn't occupy space. He isn't in a specific location. If heaven exists it has a specific existence and God will always be there because God is everywhere. If Hell exists, it lies outside of created existence and God will not be there because Hell is not pure. It's corrupted and God is pure and not corrupted.

The bottom line is that God had no beginning. He exists everywhere. In other words, God is the reason for everything we see. If we propose like the atheists that there is no God and that the energy or whatever that made the Big Bang always existed, then it means that the energy is God. Energy doesn't have intelligence. It can't design and create a universe. Whether you believe in God or not, it's is not going to change what is. God is not just energy or matter. God is a completely immutable, incredibly intelligent, infinitely powerful and ever loving supernatural being that created everything, including us.
