How spirits work: Part 1

I realize that I've mentioned this before, but I would like to discuss how spirits are able to interact with us in the form of ghosts. As you know, ghosts can appear and cause noises, lights and other eerie phenomenon. Ghosts can also communicate with us through electronics. The question is: how do these spirits function?

The word 'spirit' comes from Latin 'spiritus', which means breath. Ultimately, all other references come back to this breathing idea. It's kind of like a breath of air, and it refers to when people die they take a last breath. The ancients considered that this is how the soul leaves the body.

Of course, we know that this is not really the way it works. However, it's easy to understand why the ancient people thought of the soul as being inside a body and that it had to get out after death. Ultimately, this is the reason that people think of the soul as the true person and the body as being a receptacle for the soul.

There are many ideas about what a soul is, but for the sake of semantics I would like to say that the soul is a form of spirit, the others being ghosts, angels, demons, and devils. However, we could consider ghosts to be lost souls, so in essence, a ghost is the same as a soul. Angels, demons and devils are more powerful spirits.

Many say that a body lives because of the soul it contains. However, if you think of the idea of a zombie, you would have a body that is soulless. Regardless of whether you believe in zombies, a body can live without a soul (on life support), but it would be an empty body without personality or identity. Thus, we need the body and soul combination to constitute a real person.

However, when the soul leaves the body at death it now is the essence of the person. The body is just a useless bunch of dead tissue. From this we could conclude that the body needs the soul to live. This is an example of circular logic. You can't get to a conclusion.

We also know that God is a spiritual being, and since the soul is also spiritual, it would suggest that our souls are somewhat like God; although, in our case, we are incomplete and much less than God. However, since there is a connection between what God is composed of and what our souls are composed of, this would suggest that the supernatural realm contains the physics to explain spirits, and ghosts, and possibly even God.

Unfortunately, we are ignorant of what this supernatural physics is like and how it works. But, we can say a few things about it. One thing we can say is that a spirit is immortal and cannot die. Thus, there is no entropy involved in supernatural physics. This would suggest a form of energy that allows perpetual motion. In other words, a soul consists of a form of energy that cannot wear out, dissipate or be destroyed, and this energy can power the soul without addition of new energy. This kind of energy would not be convertible to other forms. It would be immutable like God.

Since ghosts are spirits or lost souls and they can appear and communicate with us, it would suggest that this energy that makes up the spirit could influence the energy in our natural plane of existence. How this works is not easy to understand, but it would suggest that supernatural energy is partially linked to natural energy, and that could explain how our soul is associated with our body. It would also explain how angels and demons could influence us. This could be the missing link between the natural plane and the supernatural plane.

Could this energy interaction between the natural and supernatural worlds function at the quantum level? As you know, when you get down to the quantum level, things are very strange and quantum particles can be entangled at large distances. This could be an explanation for how ghosts function.

Maybe the Hadron collider will someday answer this question, and it could give a scientific look into the spirit world. Maybe they'll find the real God particle.
