Are we souls on safari?

This is the first of several essays on how spirits work. All of this is based on both established theology, a bit of the paranormal, and my opinions on how spirituality works based on science.

How spirits work is an odd question, but it has merit. The reason I say that is because of the main tenant of Christianity that says that this life is just a trial to see if we're deserving of Heaven. In other words, our souls are simply occupying our bodies for a short time, and that real life is spiritual, not corporeal.

First thing that has to be ironed out is whether our souls are immortal. As I've said before, souls exist on a higher plane of existence than our bodies do. This plane is devoid of change because it's outside the time-space continuum. That suggests that our souls existed long before we were born and that our souls will never cease to exist.

God created the angels first and then us. However, these ideas suggest that time existed before God created everything. That would be an illogical assumption. God doesn't exist in time. He has no beginning and no end. He is, in essence, existence in its pure form. He told Moses; "I am who am". He is timeless. The order in time of God's creations is something that we humans ascribe to them.

The conclusion is that our sours are immortal, so the idea that this life is only temporary would make sense. Our souls will go on forever when our body dies. But if our true essence is our soul, then what is this essence?

That's a hard question to answer, but one thing is sure, our soul must harbor our personality in some fashion, perhaps keeping our thoughts in a form of energy that we are not familiar with. Souls may be a form of unknown energy, and this could explain how souls interact with the living in ghost form. There's no way to prove this, but it makes sense. Supernatural life may, in fact, be existence in energy form, an energy that's intelligent and outside the laws of physics that we know. Maybe this energy lies beyond the particles in quantum physics, but it could explain how these particles exist.

How did our bodies come about? That's been answered by pointing to the Big Bang and its aftermath. The particles that make up Baryonic matter (the stuff we're made out of) condensed out of the energy soup that appeared at the Big Bang. Could the particles or energy that make up our souls have been hiding in that soup? It's possible that God did a trick that science isn't capable of discovering. He created our souls, perhaps in the real God particles, at the time of the Big Bang.

The question that you might have is: how did God know how many souls He needed? The answer is simple: He is not in time and thus knows everything that will happen. That gets into the concept dilemma of free will, but it's the only explanation that makes sense.

I believe that the natural plane that our bodies exist in and the astral plane that souls exist in are linked, and this is the way that paranormal events can occur. The energy that makes up souls can interact with energy that exists in the natural plane.

One of the more interesting questions about ghosts is: why do they appear clothed. I believe that the answer is that a ghost contains the essential psychological and mental aspects that are part of us, and the idea of being clothed is inherent and instinctive, so the ghost's body and clothes are projected from the energy that makes up the ghost's soul.

I realize that these ideas are weird, but there are even more extreme ideas out there. Mine come from a scientist's desire to make sense out of the supernatural, a goal that is more philosophical than scientific. So, it's only a theory. That's okay, but my theories prove that I believe in a creator and in the supernatural aspects of the paranormal universe.
