Part 50

The giant's spear came swinging down. Mayabelle shrieked and rolled quickly out of the way. Her other friends scattered as the spear slammed into the rock between them. Mayabelle swung her staff quickly, helping to propel herself away further from the towering figure.

The monster unleashed a roar, sending ice down Mayabelle's spine. She glanced sideways as she took off running for cover, making sure her friends would be safe. Ember burst into flames and started hurling hot blasts at the giant as he roared, and Idril's guitar came swinging through the air. She too was distancing herself from the giant, likely to create more effective spells.

Mayabelle hurriedly whispered a prayer of protection over her and her friends. She suddenly made an abrupt turn, struck by inspiration. She ran as fast as she could, summoning a burst of wind to assist her. Using her staff again, she catapulted into the electric air. Light pulsed outward from her, blinding as a strike of lightning as she hurtled towards the giant, screaming to get his attention. He looked in her direction, and with everything she had pulsed the light outward.

The giant's eyes were stunned from the brilliance of the light, and he stumbled back, rubbing his eyes and angrily swung his spear. The handle caught Mayabelle, sending her crashing into the mountain.

From the ringing in her ears, she could hear Idril's fierce enchantments and Ember's intense yelling. Her eyes were vibrating slightly, but she shook off the pain and staggered forward to assist in the battle again.

She could tell, although their best and quickest efforts were being extended, they were loosing. The giant's skin was tough from his many years on the mountains, and his range made him even stronger.

A scream echoed off the mountain, a long loud reptilian scream. A shimmering silver dragon was diving out of the storm filled sky. Ceaser barreled straight into the giant's face. Both roared, one with rage, one with shock.

Opportunity hit Mayabelle in the face. She darted our from the dent in the mountain. Using all the force she could, she drove her staff deep and hard into the giant's achilles tendon.
