Chapter 5

The finals were done. Adiva sighed as she walked towards the parking lot. She was sure she had aced all of them. But now she was so tired because she had pulled all nighters constantly for the past one week, catching her precious sleep only in naps. Her whole body was protesting wildly. Her friends walked beside her and they were slightly more cheerful than her.

"Hey gurl!" A cheery voice shouted near her ears and she flinched at the ball of sunshine, aka, her female best friend, Araniel, also her honorary second cousin (She was her Uncle's stepdaughter). They lived in the same compound, just different mansions and they were more like sisters than friends.

Araniel was beautiful. She was tall, dark skinned (from her mother's side) and had features carved from porcelain (her mother was beautiful). She had hair as soft as silk which was curly and always easy going.

"Can you please not be your usual optimistic self today?" Adiva mumbled.

"Diva you need to chill." Araniel murmured.

"I will. After I go home and sleep for three days straight, I will chill. But till then you stay as far away from me as possible along with your ever cheerful attitude. Because I may just have to kill you if you show me your beautiful face." Adiva grumbled. Araniel laughed and then side hugged her as they walked.

Yamin reached them on his skateboard and pushed them apart, taking his place in between them and then smiling at the deadly looks they threw his way, before bending down to pick up his skateboard.

"Ladies!" He greeted the girls around them who giggled and batted their eyes at him. Adiva and Araniel rolled their eyes. "Wild cats!" He next addressed them. They glared at him. He called them that because they usually behaved quite violent when they were angry.

"Do not antagonize the princess today. She is sour. She might just kill you." A girl behind them mentioned.

"With her manicured nails?" Yamin asked with a raised eyebrow. There were hesitant giggles.

"With a knife. In your sleep. Have you forgotten that your room is right mext to mine?" Adiva hissed. There were dreamy sighs around them and Araniel rolled her eyes. Yamin was slightly smug at the looks of adoration he recieved.

"Shh! Keep your voice down. My admirers might just kill you to occupy your room right next to mine, just to be closer to me." Yamin whispered loudly. The girls blushed. Adiva scoffed.

"Nobody takes Adiva's place. Adiva Rasan connot be replaced." Adiva flipped her hair as she addressed her cousin and all the girls around her. Araniel smiled at her best friend and leveled a challenge at the girls around them, who scattered towards their own cars.

Adiva opened her car door and closed it, before watching Yamin unhappily. Yamin rolled his eyes and bent down to kiss her temple.

"I will see you at home princess." He whispered to her. He was always soft for her. He could never see her sad because of him and that was his weakness. She smiled slightly before reversing the car and exiting the parking lot. Yamin turned to see Araniel watching him.

"Broke up with the latest one?" She enquired lightly. Yamin smirked before his eyes turned glacier cold.

"She challenged Adiva's presence in my life. And I cannot bear such an attitude. People know we are a package deal. Accept it or forget it." Yamin told her. She nodded. He mock saluted her and blew her a kiss before moving towards his own car. He stopped as he reached the door and turned towards her again. "How did you know I broke up with her?" He enquired with narrowed eyes. She stiffened.

"It's all- all over the- the NYC!" She stuttered. He sighed and nodded before he turned entered his car and drove away. Araniel relaxed and sighed in relief. She hadn't lied but she had omitted a detail. She spied on every move he made. She loved him since she was a seven year old, gap toothed little girl but he never realised it and neither did Adiva. Would he ever see her at all?

•••

Adiva was irritated. She was slightly miffed at the way her supposed best friend had behaved in the presence of all the girls around him. They were all girls who would grab at any weakness she displayed and upload it on the NYC and she didn't trust many of them. Yet Yamin had been having fun at her expense and that was not acceptable to her.

She changed her clothes to a more comfortable attire and laid on her bed. Finally her high schooling was done with. The relief she felt couldn't be expressed in words. She knew that she would have no problem in getting admission in the prestigious ZRU (Zhaviar Residential University) and her eyes softened at that thought. Getting admission into this University had been her dream since that fateful incident. She smiled gently at the cherished memory and closed her tired eyes. She needed some much needed rest.

Adiva Rasan peacefully went to sleep, while the world around her exploded with the latest news (not about Yamin's breakup). The news became the hot topic of the whole country and the news channels began to fix appointments with the parties to get the details regarding it. The NYC was on fire, with the amount of youth interest in the revealed news. The names of the Peace Treaty Bride and Groom was announced- Adiva Rasan and Mirsab Furaat.

Yamin gulped the juice and crunched the bottle in his hand before aiming for the dustbin with it. He missed and shook his head before turning his attention to the T.V, where he was watching Soccer. He was relaxed and had deemed it safer to wait for Adiva to become normal, before trying to contact her. He smiled at the face she had made at him earlier that day. His bestie was still a kid at heart. He chuckled.

Lifting up his eyes, he scrutinized each inch of his room, where one wall was dedicated to a collage of pictures. Most of the pictures had Adiva in them. She was his unbiological twin. She was present in all age and all moods on this wall. He sighed as he watched them all and remembered the argument he had earlier that day with his girlfriend, now ex. She had wanted him to pay more attention to her. He had refused. In his books of rules, attention needed to be earned not demanded and she hadn't deserved his attention. So he dumped her. The major reason though, was the way she had brought Adiva in the argument and painted her as a whiny attention seeker (Thank goodness Adiva hadn't witnessed that). He had lost his cool by then and she had witnessed him becoming cold abruptly as he told her to get herself someone who could put up with her continuous self praise because he was dumping her. She, to her credit, had just looked heartbroken for a minute before turning with a huff and walking away. Now though, she was constantly bombing his cell with apologies and calls, which he wasn't paying attention to.

The door to his room banged open, just as Sinan rushed inside. He narrowed his eyes at Sinan and was about to utter some choice words, when Sinan's next word stopped him in his tracks.

"Have you been on the NYC recently?" Sinan questioned him, with wide, horrified eyes, that had a tinge of humor in them. Yamin frowned at him.

"No! Why?" He questioned. His heart was accelerating now. He was getting a bad vibe from Sinan, who shook his head and muttered something about the world going crazy before picking Yamin's PC from the side desk and opening it. He then opened the NYC site and logged in with his own account. Yamin watched the PC and Sinan in turns. The moment the homepage came into view Yamin turned deathly white.

"NOOOO!" Yamin shouted hysterically. "Please God no. Have mercy on us."

'The Princess of the Rasans and the Prince of Furaats?' - read one heading. There were many such articles spread on the page. Yamin's personal favorite was 'The hurricane to marry the ice storm?'. Amazed at the creativity of the headings, he began to read one of the article on it.

'Earlier today, the official announcement regarding the two names chosen for the accomplishment of the next Rasan-Furaat Peace Treaty was made. Adiva Rasan and Mirsab Furaat were chosen through the regular way of choosing the candidates for completion of this Genearation's peace treaty.

This time, unlike all the other times, the bride and the groom are both from the main branch of the family and are treated like royalty within the family. What this match will bring about, only the time will tell! (Yamin facepalmed when he read these words. Whatever it brought about will not be pretty!).

The date for the Wedding of the generation is set on right one month from today and all the preparations have been started, an inside source informed us. We heartily congratulate the young couple who are on their way to continue doing us all a favor by keeping the families in check. Thank you very much!'

Yamin's eyes bulged as he read the other articles, some more colorful than the one he read, proclaiming about, how the two teenagers were head over heels in love already. He mentally noted to steer Adiva clear of the article for the safety of the writer. He was still in shock at what had happened. Some months ago, he was just joking about Adiva being chosen for this treaty and now when she actually had been chosen for it, he was feeling dread imagining her reaction to it. He wished for their old boring life, which was now going to be thoroughly ruined.

"What do we do?" He enquired from Sinan in a crazed fashion as he climbed out of his bed due to the sudden infusion of energy and began to pace around his room.

"What can we do?" Sinan countered. "This is the Peace Treaty we are talking about. It's akin to law. We cannot do a thing about this except witness Adiva on the warpath!"

"Then we should abandon ship and hide on the mountain of the wise. As far as we stay away from this mansion, that much safer we remain from the fire that Adiva's gonna breathe once she realise what is happening." Yamin told Sinan seriously, who nodded thoughtfully.

"Or we could hide this news from her till her wedding and ensure peace in this mansion." Sinan suggested.

"Do you think that will work?" Yamin asked him with hope shining in his eyes. Sinan smiled at him sweetly.

"NO!" He shouted in response, breaking all of Yamin's hopes. "We can't and won't hide his from her. She needs to know about this and find ways to tear apart this treaty. She needs closure so she can move on." Sinan told him. Yamin looked at him like he had gone crazy and rolled his eyes when Sinan shrugged.

"There is no way, is there?" Yamin gently enquired, deflating. He recieved a sombre head shake from Sinan. "She will make living difficult for the members of this mansion..." He declared.

"Better that she fights than break." Sinan declared. "Prepare yourself to face her wrath. Even though you do not deserve it, you will be the first person to face her anger." Sinan told him with half happiness and half pity. Yamin dropped on the bed and held his head in his hands.

"Are you going to tell her about this?" Yamin asked him hopefully. Sinan chuckled.

"Are you crazy?" He asked sarcastically. "I will be far away when she recieves this news."

"You are her brother. You should be there in the tough times for her and break this news to her yourself!"

"That's exactly why I am leaving you in charge of her. You are her best friend after all. All the best."

"Let Araniel reveal this to her."

"Araniel will not show her face here, till my sister's temper calms down." Sinan declared and laughed right on Yamin's face. Yamin sagged down again.

"I don't want to take this news to her Sinan!" He exclaimed. Sinan chuckled and patted his head before he turned towards the NYC once more.

"Look at the comments pouring in." Sinan lightly commented. Yamin narrowed his eyes at him.

"How come you are behaving so relaxed at this news?"

"Mirsab studies in ZRU and I know that he is a nice guy. He is a good human being and he has all the qualities that would make him a good choice for a groom. Moreover he is the heartthrob at Zhaviar."

"Greaat!" Yamin said sarcastically. "More reasons for celebrations! Adiva is going to chew all his admirers."

"He is not a flirt."

"She won't care!"

"Calm down will you?" Sinan exclaimed exasperatedly.

"Do you not know your sister?" Yamin questioned him. He rolled his eyes and began to go through the comments once more.

"You fear unnecessarily. Adiva will realise that this cannot be changed and she will find methods to make this bearable. Meanwhile I am going to enjoy this whole thing."

Yamin hid his face in his hands and sighed. He should take a page out of Sinan's book and calm down. The deed was done and there was not turning back. They would have to find ways to calm down Adiva though. She was not going to like this and this was going to turn ugly.

"Look at this!" Sinan lightly laughed at something. Yamin squinted and settled beside him to go through the comments.

"Whoa! They are soo jealous!" Yamin commented lightly. The girls were all going crazy with jealousy. They were commenting stuff like 'She doesn't deserve him' and 'my heart is breaking apart💔'. He wanted to shake up these girls, who were so casually commenting on how undeserving she was of him, when they didn't even know who she was. She was a gem and it was Mirsab who may not have deserved her. She deserved only the best. He huffed. 'She was my junior in high school. She is not that bad!' He read and nodded in agreement with the unknown commenter. He couldn't just comment anything over here. He was a Rasan and his words could very well be publicised if he was even a bit careless so he let it go for now and sighed as he read some more bad and good comments. He noticed that nearly all of them painted Mirsab as some angel.

The door to his room banged open, for the second time that night and he stood up in surprise while Sinan watched the newcomer with a pale countenance. Yamin was amused. He never knew Sinan could be this scared of Adiva. He chuckled and then passed it off as a cough when he saw Adiva glare daggers at him.

"You! You dare to make fun of me in front of those... those girls!" Adiva growled. Uh oh. She hadn't seen the news yet and she was already upset with him. This was going to be fun (notice the sarcasm?).

"Diva! That's in the past and we should just forget it because we may not even meet those girls in the future." Yamin tried to calm her down. Sinan shook his head at him. But he was scared that if this was added up on top of the new headache then he better bid adieu to his sanity. Adiva inhaled and exhaled before she took steps towards him. Sinan widened his eyes at the approaching problem and tried to obscurely save them by going back to the previous page. His action invited her attention and she narrowed her eyes in suspicion.

"What were you both upto?" She enquired. Sinan shook his head.

"We?" He asked dumbly. "We are just browsing."

"What are you browsing?" She asked once more while he gaped at her and gulped. He was losing it under pressure.

Yamin reacted a second slowly, as Adiva unexpectedly made a sudden leap and landed beside Sinan and turned the PC towards her in a second, before he could even shout a warning. The page now displayed all the headlines regarding the wedding of the two of the most popular people in Naia. Sinan and Yamin watched each other in panic as Adiva saw the headlines and her face began to go pale. They gulped.

Hera screamed in anger as she threw away her cell phone at the wall. Her face was ghastly white as she breathe deeply to calm herself down. Her mother rushed in to check on her when she screamed.

"Why?" Hera enquired from her mother helplessly with tearful eyes. "Why does she get everything and we are left to walk in her dust? She even gets the most eligible bachelor of Naia! You need to stop the wedding mother! I like him!" Hera shrieked and her mother sighed in helplessness.

"This wedding cannot be stopped but I will make sure she never stays happy." Her mother, Maria muttered calmingly. She breathe deeply and began to control herself.

Hera Rasan was an year older to Adiva and was fed up of Adiva getting everything she wanted. Just like Mirsab she was going to be a second year student at ZRU this year and she knew him to be an awesome man who she had come to admire. And now Adiva was already snatching away her man without even meeting him. She wasn't going to let this happen, Hera vowed and wiped the tears off her blue eyes.

•••

Ehlam Rasan sighed, as he readied himself for her reaction. She didn't disappoint at all. A rasan through and through, she wouldn't give up without a fight.

"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!" A scream pierced the calm atmosphere of the mansion. The diva was out to play. And there was going to be lives on line. Ehlam muttered unhappily. Amongst all his grandchildren, Adiva had to be chosen. The most rebellious of them all. Tehlez Furaat had it easier than butter.
