Next day, we were asked to join whichever the school club we want. My class
mates chose their favorite subjects which they’re good at. I neither had any favorite
subject nor any skill that was good at. At the end, I decided to join media club.
I went to the club but at the door I was bumped into someone.
“I’m sor-” when I looked up, it was the same student who fought with me at the
canteen few weeks before.
“What are you doing in the media club? It’s not for airheads like you”
“I’m not a-” I couldn’t talk as he suddenly punched me on the face. I fall down due
to the impact. He grabbed my hands tightly, not letting me move them. Then
punched me again and again. I felt my lips bleeding.
Thankfully the bell rang and all students started to go to their clubs. He let go of
my hands and kicked me one more time before leaving me on the floor. After
struggling for few minutes I was able to get up. My whole body ached. I went to
the washroom and washed off the blood in my face. I cleaned my face thoroughly
and came out.
I met face to face with Mr. Ray who was struggling to bring a big pile of files.
“Oh Kai, can you help me please?”
“Sure, Mr. Ray” I took half of his the files and followed him to his office.
“Thank you Kai. Put them here.” He pointed an empty place on his table. I put files
there.
“Is that it Mr. Ray?” I asked politely.
“Yes Kai, thanks again” he smiled at me.
“My pleasure sir” I turned around to leave.
"Wait Kai" he called me back and turned around. He grabbed my arm.
"What happened to your hand?"
“Huh?” I looked at my arm and saw the wrist that kid had grabbed, has reddened. I
hid my hands behind my back.
“Uh, nothing sir” Mr. Ray looked at me suspiciously.
“Kai come here and sit. I think we need to talk” he showed me the chair which was
in front of his desk. I sighed and sat there.
“Tell me what happened” he said sternly.
If he found out that I told about him to the teachers, he’d bother me more. So I
decided to lie.
“Actually, it’s nothing sir. My hands normally turn red whenever I sweat too
much” He didn’t look like that he bought my lie.
“Kai, I’m your teacher and advisor. If something is bothering you, you can tell me.
You need to trust me” he said in his usual kind voice. I sighed and made up my
mind.
“Okay, I’ll tell you. But please don’t tell him or anyone else that I told you about
this” I pleaded.
“You can trust me on this” Mr. Ray said again.
“There’s this kid who always bothers me” I said, looking down.
“Who? A super 7 student?” his eyes widened.
“No, No. He’s a classmate of my other class. Name is Nick I guess. And he’s been
doing this since I was a freshman. So I’m quite used to this now. Mr. Ray doesn’t
have to worry.”
“A normal kid dares to hurt you?” Mr. Ray murmured, he looked like he was
thinking about something. Then he looked at me with his usual smile.
“Don’t worry about this Kai. Go to your class now” I smiled back. It felt better
after telling him everything.
‘At least in the future, if Nick kills me, Mr. Ray knows which one is to blame’
I shook my head because of the sudden ridiculous idea.
The next day, when I went to the media club, Nick wasn’t there. I felt very
peaceful.
“Kai, can you please bring few digital cameras? I think I put them on storage
room’s cupboard” the new kid I recognized as media club’s president, asked me.
“Sure”
I went towards the storage room but suddenly a rough hand grabbed me by my
shirt collar. I was pushed to the hallway wall and my head and the whole back
ached. I closed my eyes, gritting my teeth to endure the pain.
“Why did you tell Mrs. Shayne about this? She suspended my classes for two
weeks. You think you’re a hero, don’t you?” Nick pulled me to the front and
pushed me again, against the wall. My head started to spin.
And what’s he talking about? I never said anything to her.
"I swear I didn't tell anything to anyone. Only Mr. Ray-” Oh yes I told Mr. Ray
about this. Did he tell it to Mrs. Shayne? But he promised not to tell anyone.
“So you told him” Nick cut me off from the middle and let go of my collar. I saw
him raising his hand to punch me. I closed my eyes tightly and screamed,
“STOP!”
I was waiting for the impact while closing my eyes. But nothing happened. I spent
few seconds in the same position but nothing happened. I opened my eyes and was
surprised by the thing I saw. Everything has stopped. Nick has one hand in my
collar and other in the air ready to punch me. But he’s stopped. Like a statue. Not
even a muscle moved. I waved my hand in front of his eyes. But there wasn’t a
reaction at all. I looked around only to find out that not only Nick, but everything
has stopped. The students, who have been either chatting or walking on the
hallway has frozen. I felt so tired, my head was spinning. What should I do now?
How should I turn everything back to normal?
I bought one of my hands near Nick’s ear. Then I snapped my fingers. All I
remembered was the pain of Nick’s sudden punch and everything went blank.
I waked up to see three worried faces looking down at me. I recognized them as Win, Tay and Yoon. My super 7 classmates.
“Hey, how are you now?” Yoon asked and she had a relieved smile on her lips.
“What happened?” I asked rubbing my head. My head and back ached like crazy.
“We found you on the hallway. Nick was beating you. We reported about it to Mrs.
Shayne and Mr. Ray. He was taken by Mrs. Shayne. You’re were unconscious so
Mr. Ray asked us to bring you to the school’s clinic” Tay answered.
School clinic’s door opened and Mr. Ray came in.
“Oh Kai, You woke up” he stated while walking towards me.
"Win you stay with Mr. Ray and Kai. We’ll go and buy something for him to
eat” Yoon said and went with Tay.
“How are you feeling?” Mr. Ray asked me.
“Mr. Ray, I’ve something important to say. I-I think I’ve found my potential” then
I told him about everything that happened.
“Hmm, seems like you have the power of controlling the time” Mr. Ray
thoughtfully said at the end.
“Wow Kai you can control the time!” Win said loudly grinning like a maniac.
Yeah I guess I can.
‘Time controlling’
Even it sounded cool. I happily grinned back at Win.
