Chapter 14

I apologize for the long wait, here's the next (amazing) chapter!

I opened my eyes to find that I'm laying chest down on a smooth black floor, my hand in front of my face. The cold seeped into my skin. I get up on my elbows to see that I'm in a long dark corridor, it never seemed to end.

I stood up and a short, white dress flowed around my knees in a nonexistent breeze. Instead of torches lighting up the hallway, their is small balls of light floating up near the black ceiling. They almost looked like stars. I stared at them, entranced by their beauty.

A gust of wind blew my hair up across my face and as I moved it out of the way, I saw that a door opened, leaving it cracked. A warm light filtered through the crack, washing over my face. I sighed in relief. Something pushed at my mind to walk to the door, so I did.

The door had no handle so I wrapped my fingers around the rough edge and pushed it wider open.

As soon as I did the corridor disappeared and a garden appeared in it's place. Flowers and shrubs stood tall around me and somewhere I could hear the crystal cascade of a waterfall. The warm light enveloped me and I could feel the energy pressing in on me, but as soon as I felt it, it went away. Bees went to and fro from flower to flower. I reaches out to graze the petals of the flowers. They feel soft and smooth under my finger tips. I let my hand run over the flowers as I walk, the bees not caring. I've always had a love of flowers, as a young girl my parents would loose me in a field of flowers, I would lay down with the flower heads leaning over me and the bees would buzz around me. The bees never bothered me, they seemed to like me.

I smiled to myself. The moss on the ground was like a cushion for my bare feet. The scent of flowers filled my nose and the slight breeze kept the heat at bay.

I looked around to see that the garden seemed to never end, flowers, moss, and shrubs all around, the only break in the plants was the walking path and small streams of crystal clear water. No evil seemed to touch this place, the plants are in full bloom, not shriveling under evil. The water is crystal clear, not plagued with mud and parasites and the air felt and smelled clean and clear, no heaviness or smoke lay in it.

"You have a liking for flowers, do you not?" A husky voice said, alarmingly close.

I whipped around, my hair slicing through the air before settling onto my back, and my arms trying to grab onto something behind me in the flowers, but the flowers seemed to grab onto me, holding me steady. In front of me stood a very handsome ellon. Most females would probably swoon at the sight of him, although I did not swoon, my breath did get caught in my throat. The ellon was very tall and had strawberry, almost red, hair flowing down his back and over his shoulders. He did not have a circlet, but just from the vibes coming off of him I could tell that he is powerful.

"Don't fret, young one, I will not harm you. I am a friend," his smooth voice calmed me. He started walking as I stared at his captivating face, he motioned for me to walk with him.

I hurried to his side, not wanting him to wait.

"You like it here, do you not?"  He looked down at me, a smirk on his face.

I looked around at the beautiful flowers and nodded, "I do. It's... very peaceful and beautiful here," I looked back up at him, "Is this place yours?"

"It is." His voice is deep and melodic. We come across a intricate, yet simple, stone bench. He motions to me to sit with him. I do, but I keep a respectful distance. I play with the skirt of my dress.

"Everything here holds beauty, but one of it compares to yours," he says and I turn away, blushing a deep red.

He laughed, "I have not caused anyone to blush in a very long time."

Despite my cheeks still flaming, I say, "I don't believe that," I ring my hands, trying to get the nerves out.

He laughed again and despite it sounding... Wrong... I smiled.

I try to change the subject, "this place seems free from all evil," I turn to face his frown, "if I may ask, where are we?"

He looked off into the distance, I got the feeling that he only thinks of me as a child. It certainty feels like it being next to his huge figure, and no doubt he is ages old.

"We are in a place of my own, it does not concern you of where we are, or how we got to be here. Not at this minute... Perhaps in time you will know, if things go accordingly," He voice is blatant.

Now is my turn to frown, "if what things go accordingly?"

He turned to me suddenly, placing a hand on my thigh, "would you like to stay here? Or with me? I can protect you from all the faults in the world, keep you an innocent beings. I can offer you things no one else can offer."

This proposition does sound good, it would be nice to just let everything in Middle-Earth play out on it's own... But it sounds to good to be true... This place sounds to good to be true.

"What can you offer me that no one else can offer?"  He seems caught off guard but my question, I'm guessing that is a very rare thing to see on him.

"I can offer you the world."

I sit back, also caught off guard.

He looks me dead in the eyes, "you can have the world on your fingertips, I can even make you mine, if that is what you wish. But you have to side with me, you have to stay here and then I can give you anything you want, as long as it does not hinder my plans."

I suck in a breath, everything goes cold as something makes it's self apparent: the reddish tinge in his irises, his beauty... And the way he is speaking about his plans. I carefully edge away. Fear laces my voice, "who are you?"

The world seems to come to a complete halt and even the air seems to stop.

"I am Sauron."

Fear takes hold of me. I shake my head, "no. No!"

I stand up, backing up, but I find myself suddenly unable to move.

He stands up and saunters over to me. He leans in close to me and I feel his breath on my lips, "too bad, you would have made such a lovely bride... And an even better warrior,"  one of his cold fingers trails it's way down the side of my face and comes to a rest on my lips. His finger parts them slightly.

I whimper and he leans in close to my ear and whispers, "I feel the darkness in you, you'll join me sooner or later. I have no don't about it." I shiver.

His mouth leaves my ear and his face comes right back to in front of mine. His hand fondles my face and it looks like he wants to have his lips connect with mine.

Suddenly, he straightens and with a wave of his hand, I'm gone.

I bolted up-right in my bed, gasping for breath. It felt like I had been plunged into a spring of ice cold water. I clutch the blankets to my chest and look around, seeing that I'm back in my own talan.

I fall back down onto my pillow, it had all been a dream. But...it's almost like I can still feel his finger on lips, his breath on my face, his whispers in my ear. I subconsciously raise a hand to touch my face.

I look out the flet to see that the sky is still dark, but the moon is almost spent, I still had about an hour, maybe two, until the sun comes up. But after that dream, I don't think I'll be getting back to sleep.

I fling my hand over to my bedside table and feel for the intricate carvings of my dagger handles. Well... If you could call them daggers, their really more like short swords.

It's been almost two weeks since I've arrived here in Lórien with Legolas. Ever since that day where I learned how to access my power, I've been learning how to master it. It still makes me fatigued when I use it though, but not as bad as it had been.

And I know that I can't rely on my ability to save me and others at all times so I have been training with all sorts of weapons, my favorite being the two daggers Braiglach had made for me.

Since I have been such a quick learner, and now I'm as good as Braiglach is, I just practice techniques and go patrolling the borders with the elves.

It's strange, everyone treating me like I'm royalty... Which I'm not. Braiglach tells me I am, since I'm the daughter of Lord Celeborn and Lady Galadriel, but then I pointed out that they decided not to take on royal titles. But... Last weekend Braiglach presented me with a beautiful circlet: silver, dips down onto my forehead like Galadriel's, white jewels lining the top of it, entwining with the patterns in the circlet, and going all the way around my head, dipping down in the back too.

Braiglach had said that Celeborn and Galadriel wanted me to have it, as a token of their appreciation and of my coming home to them. It is quite beautiful, believe me, but it's a bit too much. Of course I've always dreamed of being in a high place in the social ladder... But I hate all the attention. I wear the circlet, afraid that Cele and Galady would be disappointed. When I had first worn it around, I dipped my head, not wanting anyone to see my face, but now I wear it with confidence, although at times I am not confident. I have grown quite attached to it... In a messed up sort of way.

So, I get up off the bed, my eyes using the light from the blue-white lamps and the bright moon and star light to guide me. I get dressed in my normal patrolling gear: a brown leather tunic that comes to a point down on my hips, laced up on the sides, a white undershirt that you can see on my arms and sticking out from under my vambraces and at the bottom of my tunic (you can also see some if it above my engraved tunic), dark brown tight-fitting trousers, and my black knee-high boots that lace up in the back, they have shin guards in them. I put on my back scabbard for my two daggers, the scabbard having to be tied around me, resting on my chest (although I put this on under my tunic so no one sees it, but the back of my tunic is low enough that the scabbard rests nicely back there), and I put on my black leather belt. The belt has a holster for a water skin and various holsters for throwing knives and has a scabbard for my sword and a holster for my long hunting knife. The bottom part of the knife is also connected to a thigh holster on my right side. On my left leg I also have a black leather thigh holster, on the outside I have a pouches for various things and on the inside, were nobody would dare touch, I have a small hidden dagger, no bigger than my finger. As you can tell, I have grown a fond liking to weapons. I find them very useful when fighting orcs.

Lastly, I do my long, white hair into a thick braid, sometimes resting it down my back or sometimes over my shoulder. Then I put on my precious circlet, resting it lightly over my hair, fitting snugly on my head. I smile when ready, finding comfort in the now familiar weight of my weapons.

I look over my shoulder and see the stone Legolas gave me, the light from the silver lamps bounce off of it. Surprised that I had almost forgot it, I slip it in my thigh pouch.

I end up with a book, sitting up against the tree to my talan. I look up after I finished the last pages, the sad yet happy finality settling over me. The sun's rays has just started to peek over the horizon.

I figure I cured my view, "are you patrolling with us, my lady?"

I smile at Erlathan, taking in his blue eyes and auburn hair. "Of course, I would love too."

I get up, wiping off my pants and setting my book on the ladder to my talan.

"Who else is joining us?" I ask while we walk. For the last two weeks I have gotten acquainted with Erlathan, he is a good warrior and friend.

"Gantar and Phraan."

Oh, great. I don't know these ellons. "I don't believe I have had the pleasure of being acquainted with them." Immediately nerves fill me. Yes, being here and around these elves has helped my shyness, but it still hasn't gone away.

"Do not worry, arwen en amin, you will get along greatly with them. (my lady)"

"Is it really that easy to see through me?" I wince.

"Goheno nin, arwen en amin (forgive me, my lady)" Erlathan bowed his head.

"No need to ask for forgiveness, mellonamin. (my friend)" I smiled as we walked, my sword hitting my leg with every step.

He bowed his head and I chuckled as he held back his, 'goheno nin, arwen en amin.'

"Which part of the forest are we patrolling today?"

"North eastern border. We have spotted orcs near the Misty Mountains for some time now."

I nodded my head, showing that I understand.

Suddenly the bushes near us explode and two younger elves pop out, of course they're only in their hundreds: young for elves, old for me. Anyways, the two elves had brown hair and looked fair, just like all the other elves. They had that young mischievous glint in their eyes.

They both put a fist over their heart, "arwen en amin." I smiled, but when I was about to reply, an elf jumped down from a tree, nearly scaring me senseless.

"Goheno nin, Lumornel." He placed a fist over his heart, "Tula, our Lady wishes to speak with you. (come)"

He turned to climb back up the mallorn. But my words stopped him, "Ú, I will stay and hunt down orcs. There have been reports of an orc pack near out woods, I will not go talk to Galadriel while my home is in danger. (no)"

Haldir smiled, seemingly proud of what I said.

I furrowed my brows, "what?"

He shook his head, that proud smile on his face, "You have changed so much since you've come here."

I furrowed my eye brows more, but I turned around and pulled out my daggers, "let's go hunt some orc."

Everyone smiled, took out their weapons; pleased with the idea of killing foul orc.

We patrolled the forest from the tree tops. Hours passed, no orcs to be seen.

I sighed, "let's get back to Caras Galadhon."

I hopped down from the tree, the others followed suit.

"Lumornel, don't give up so easily, we'll find them," Haldir perked up.

I sighed again, "I know that we'll find them, but it's just not going to be today," I frowned.

"I just don't--" something fell down onto my shoulders, an orc screeched in my ear.

"Aaahhh!" I flung my self to the ground, on top of the orc. Since I was laying on my daggers, I panicked to get my hunting knife from my thigh.

I stabbed it somewhere above my head, luckily, I felt it hit something hard and squishy.

The orc stopped struggling and I flung myself up. More orcs had dropped down, I wonder how the elves didn't hear them?

Anyways, I jumped into action. An orc jumped at me, I threw a dagger at an orc heading towards Gantar's weak side and thrust my other dagger, with both hands, at the orc that jumped at me. Right through the stomach. It's blood soaked my hands. I grabbed my dagger, and bounded over to get the other one.

Before I could bend down to get the other dagger, I dropped the dagger in my hand to the grassy floor and quickly unsheathed my long sword and raised it in front of me. The orc in front of me raised his scimitar and I blocked his blows a couple times, but I'm not very great with a sword. He thrust my sword out of my hands.

The orc thrust at me with his weapon but I dodged and rolled on the ground, grabbed both of my daggers. I bounded up and with both of my long, almost sword length, daggers, I used them to cut the orc's head clean off.

More orcs bounded towards me. I sliced them up. One orc in particular thought it would be a good idea to yank on my hair. I thrust my dagger though his heart.

I spun around like a pro and sliced one orcs throat while using the other dagger's hilt to knock an orc out at the same time. I then preceded to slice the unconscious orc's throat.

I jumped over one diving for me, twirled around and threw my small throwing knife thats strapped to the inside of my thigh at the orc's the throat. The orc gurgled up blood. I pulled the pinky sized knife out of his throat and before putting it back in it's small sheath I plunged my hand out to the side, the knife going into the orcs eye. Haldir finished him off.

A sound between straining, a yelp, and gasping stopped me in my tracks. The sound emanated death. The sound was terrible, it was of someone in great pain. Of someone dying. The sound was haunting. The world around me seemed to stop and turn cold.

I turned around slowly. But the turn was also fast.

The sight made my breath catch. My friend, Erlathan, had my sword

through his chest. The pointy end sticking out towards me. Erlathan's face was ashen and his mouth in a silent 'O'.

The orc behind him, with his nasty hand on the hilt, had his teeth bared in a twisted, cruel, smile. He twisted the sword in Erlathan's chest, more blood spurting and flooding onto his beautiful grey tunic.

The orc let go off his grip on the hilt and Erlathan fell to his knees, blood gurgled out of his mouth, spilling over his pale lips in coughs.

I couldn't move, I couldn't think, my mind stopped. Words fell from his lips, right before he fell face forwards in the cold grass, "arwen en amin..."

Dead.

Dead.

He's dead. Erlathan is dead. But...

No. He can't be dead. It's not possible. The guy who patrolled with me almost everyday can't be dead. My mind just won't wrap around it.

But the image in front of me clearly said otherwise: cheek down, my sword sticking out of his back, blood pooling around him, blood trickling out of his mouth, hair splayed out around him and partially covering his face.

Like a line snapped, the growling of the orc filled me with rage. My head snapped to the orc and he must've saw the rage in my eyes because her took a step back and the satisfaction was wiped off his face.

My body shook. I couldn't bare to look at my beloved friend's body on the ground. The orcs were slowly over powering us, while I stood there, none of them bothering them. Suddenly I couldn't hold it back. It radiated from within me. The stars pushed on me.

Between my teeth I screamed, "melloneamin, get down! (my friends)"

I didn't get to check to see if they were safely down because the flood gate broke lose and a brilliant light like the stars escaped me. It burned hot white and I barely saw it vaporize all the orcs in the vicinity. The light didn't harm any of Varda though.

The light kept pouring out. But then suddenly the light stopped and I dropped like a rock, the last thing I saw was Erlathan's body. Before I blacked out I whispered, "hiro hyn hîdh ad 'wanath."

&*&*&*&*&*

I woke up with a small gasp to a light hand on my forehead.

"Shh, my dear. I've run out of time. I needed you to wake up," Galadriel's soft voice wakes me. She removes her hand from my forehead.

I sit up slowly with a groan, It feels like I've been drained of my life energy. I press a hand up against my pounding head, "how long have I been out."

I look around my surroundings. I don't recognize it, so I must be in the infirmary. By the looks of it, it seems to dawn outside.

"Three days. I heard from Haldir what you did. May Erlathan find peace after death." Her words brought everything back to me: the star-like light, Erlathan's blood, his last words.

I drew in a shaky breath. Let's skip past the formalities, get down to business, "You've run out of time? You needed me to wake up? Why?"

"I have foreseen the council of Elrond. It will be happening soon and I need to know if you would like to join a group of races that are set on saving Arda."

Saving Arda? Sounds like my kind of thing. Well, not really, but If I'm really the one who the Prophecy talks about then I have no choice but to join this group.

"Yes. I am willingly giving myself up to aid this group and their cause."
