The Chase
Aya's POV
"Hey! You guys picked a great campsite!" Toph prasied, wiggling her toes in the thick mat of fur that came off Appa. "The grass is so soft!"
I wasn't disgusted by the fur but I didn't enjoy it. It's nature, animals shed all the time.
"That's not grass." Sokka corrected, displeased. "Appa's shedding."
We made camp after flying for about a day after Aang and mine's date. Nothing is confirmed but Aang and I could be considered couple I believe.
Katara was disgusted and lifted her for up. "Oh, gross!"
"That's not gross." Aang protested and I looked up at the Airbender. He had animals surrounding him and was in a cheerful mood. "It's just a part of spring! You know, rebirth, flowers blooming and Appa gets a new coat."
"Ah, the beauty of spring." Katara sarcastically commented.
"It's nature." I pointed out. "Like Aang said, it's a part is spring."
Appa suddenly sneezes and releases a new coat of fur that lands on my sister.
Katara waved her arms out. "Stop! Appa, stop! Ugh!" She coughs with displeasure.
"It's not that bad, Katara!" Sokka spoke up before turning to us with a wig made out of fur on his head and I laughed softly at this. "It makes a great wig."
"And a great beard." Aang added with a fur beard covering his lower part of his face.
The boys laugh with one another and I giggle.
Katara didn't enjoy this and wiped the fur off her body. "Well, Aya and I are glad we finally have another girl in the group, because you two are disgusting. Right, Aya?"
I didn't pay attention to my sister because I was too busy making a fur coat out of Appa's fur.
I looked up and title my head. "What?"
She rolled her blue eyes at this. "Really, Aya?"
"What?" I shrugged. "It's not so bad."
"Excuse me, does anyone have a razor? Because I've got some hairy pits!" Toph interrupted, walking in between the boys and I. She raises her arms to reveal that she had stuffed her sleeves with fur.
The four of us laugh together. Aang sneezes and he slams against Appa and fur flies everywhere and we continue to laugh with joy.
Later that evening, we began to set up camp. All of us were busy at work, while Toph sat on her butt not doing anything.
I didn't care but Katara spoke up about the issue.
"So Toph, usually when setting up camp, we try to divide up the work." Katara informed our blind friend.
Toph shrugs, "hey, don't worry about me. I'm good to go."
"Well, actually what I'm trying to say is, some of us might fetch water, while someone else might set up the fire pit, or put up the tent." Katara explained and Momo flew to drop berries in Katara's hands. "Even Momo and Bubbles do their fair share."
Bubbles ran over to Sokka and handed him some sticks.
Toph didn't care and brushed off her suggestion. "Katara, I'm fine. I can carry my own weight. I don't need a fire, I've already collected my own food and look." Toph earthbended a tent over her head. "My tent's all sent up."
Katara was getting irritated. "Well, that's great for you, but we still need to finish-"
"I don't understand what's the problem here!" Toph exclaimed.
Katara waves her off dismissively. "Never mind."
Later, we continued to set up while Toph excluded herself and didn't do anything again. I didn't mind it but Katara was getting more irritated by it.
Aang was trying to lift the saddle off Appa with his airbending but he didn't see Sokka and it landed right on his back.
"Ahhhhh!"
I snickered at this and Aang hopped down to the ground to help him.
"Sorry!"
"Hey Toph, I wanted to apologize for earlier." I looked over and saw Katara approaching Toph. "I think we're all just a little tired and getting on each other's nerves."
Katara is fighting fire with fire. She's just going to aggravate Toph and she'll end up leaving us.
"Yeah, you do seem pretty tired."
"I meant all of us." Katara remarked with a disgusted voice.
Toph lays her head down. "Well, goodnight."
"Goodnight."
——
Fire Nation Capital
Firelord Ozai sat at his throne smirking at the sight he saw. Two guards were dragging out a woman with tangled brown hair, blue eyes, and her skin was paler then usually. She's been held captive for twelve years and has been in terrible condition.
She was a water tribe warrior and was the strongest warrior in her tribe. She had a daughter and had to give her up so she could be safe.
She was in love with a Fire Nation General or Prince at that time. She loved the man and he loved her, but they were forbidden to be with one another. Her daughter was destined to be a gifted warrior and firebender, she believes her daughter will be the best firebender out there.
The Fire Nation man left his Nation to help his nephew but that wasn't the only reason he left. The man was named Iroh and he is determined to find his daughter. After losing his son, Lu Ten, he needs and wants to reunite with his daughter. He loves that child and wants nothing but happiness and safety for her.
The water tribe woman eyes glared into Ozai's like two daggers were stabbing into his soul. She despised this man in front of her, it's his fault she lost the love of her life and her daughter.
The guards stopped and dropped her into her knees.
"Leave us alone." Ozai ordered and the guards nodded before escorting themselves out.
The water tribe woman was weak and tired. Her entire body was a greasy and dirty mess, her hair tangled, her eyes bloodshot from lack of sleep, and she had chains wrapped around her wrists and ankles.
She remained quiet not having any desire to speak to the man that sat before her.
"Ruka." Ozai began, "You do realize your daughter is special, right?"
She hung her head letting her hair fall in front of her face and she didn't speak.
Ozai continued, "I've never met this child of yours, but I've heard things. She's supposed to be the best firebender in the world."
Ruka didn't move.
Ozai sighed at her, "I want to make a deal with you."
Ruka was listening to him, but wouldn't agree to any plans he has whatsoever.
"My daughter, Azula, is after the Avatar and she has told me that a young, water tribe girl with firbending is traveling with him."
Ruka's eyes opened more at this and she lifted her head. Ozai smirked at when he saw her blue eyes.
"Now I'm not jumping to conclusions or anything but that girl could be your daughter." Ozai told her, leaning forward. "If we find her and the Avatar, we will let you go."
Ruka hates this deal.
"No." She choked out weakly.
Ozai narrowed his eyes at this. "What?"
"I said-" She coughed and slowly sat up. "No."
"Why? I have agreed to let you free if we bring her home." Ozai reasoned.
"But she would be held captive along with the Avatar." Ruka protested, getting her voice back.
"True, but your daughter would be a wonderful asset to the Fire Nation. She would be very useful in fighting the Avatar." Ozai countered and Ruka was disgusted by the news.
Ruka wants her daughter to fight the Fire Nation and end this war if she's with the Avatar.
"I don't care." Ruka stubbornly spoke. "I said no."
Ozai sighed. "Alright. I guess I have to capture your daughter and kill her."
Ruka's eyes widened and cried out. "No!"
"Guards! Take her away!" Ozai called and two guards ran out.
"You won't hurt, Aya!"
The guards grabbed Ruka and took her away.
"I won't hurt her. That's my daughter's job." Ozai smirked.
——
"There's something coming toward us!"
I shot awake from my spot on Appa's head and rubbed my weary, gold orbs. Everyone else wakes up from their slumber.
"What is it?" Aang asks. Toph kneels down and to feel the vibrations.
"It feels like an avalanche." Toph began and we approached the earthbender. "But also not like an avalanche."
I don't know if I should be impressed or creeped out by her ability to do this.
"Your powers of perception are frightening." Sokka pointed out.
"Should we leave?" Katara asks
"Better safe than sorry." Aang stated.
We quickly packed up and took off on Appa. We all look back at what was coming toward us and saw a large object speeding toward us.
"What is that thing?" I asked, squinting my eyes at it.
A few minutes had passed and we all were exhausted. My head was resting on Aang's shoulder as he wearily flew the bison through the sky and Bubbles was asleep in my lap.
Eventually, we got far enough and Appa landed on a hill. Once he landed, Toph hopped out of the saddle and lays flat on the ground.
"Ahhh, land, sweet land!" She expressed and earthbends to get to her feet. She slings her bag over her shoulder. "See you guys in the morning!"
I lazily lifted my head off Aang's shoulder and slid down next to my brother. Bubbles was still in my embrace.
"Actually, could you help us unload?"
I forgot about that.
"Really? You need me to help unload Sokka's funky-smelling sleeping bag?" Toph asked, looking back at us.
Aang handed Sokka his bag who sniffs it and he twitches in disgust before falling backwards.
"Well, yeah." Katara said. "That and everything else. You're a part of our team now and..."
"Look." Toph points at Katara in irritation. "I didn't ask you to help unload my stuff. I'm carrying my own weight."
Toph walks off.
"That's not the point." Katara protested before following Toph.
Aang hops of Appa and wraps his arms around my waist. I blush lightly at his touch.
"Ever since you joined us you've been nothing but selfish and unhelpful."
Oh no, Katara just dug a hole and possibly buried herself.
"What?!" Toph exclaimed. "Look here, Sugar Queen!" Toph points at the waterbender and Katara wanted to interject but didn't. "I gave up everything I had so that I could teach Aang earthbending, so don't you talk to me about being selfish!"
Toph sits on the ground and bends another tent.
"Sugar Queen!" Katara exclaimed, angered. Toph bends a rock to close off the tent and this makes Katara lash out. "D-Did you just slam the door in my face?!"
Katara moves erratically around the tent with anger. She grumbles with aggravation.
"How can you be so infuriating?!"
Aang, Sokka, and I watched this whole thing go down and I was to tired to interfere. Aang still had his arms around me and my head was resting on his shoulder.
"Should we... do something?" Aang asks us and I shook my head.
"Hey, I'm just enjoying the show." Sokka remarked.
Katara begins to pound on the door and Aang walks over to them to try to calm Katara down.
"Okay, okay, you both need to calm down." Aang suggests.
"Both?" Katara says and whips her head around with an aggravated face. "I'M COMPLETELY CALM!"
Aang begins to back away with fear. "I... can see that."
Later that night, all of us are lying underneath the stars. My siblings and I are in our sleeping bags while Aang is lying on the ground. Bubbles was resting on my chest and I was softly petting her, trying to sleep.
"The stars sure are beautiful tonight." Katara mockingly speaks. I mentally groaned and covered my face with my hands.
"Too bad you can't see them, Toph!"
Suddenly, the ground rumbles and I removed my hands. I jump when Katara is suddenly shot up into the air by a fissure of earth and she lands right on Sokka, who gets startled.
Sokka groans and pushes our sister off him, annoyed. "Hey, how's a guy supposed to sleep with all this yelling and earthquaking?"
"That thing is back!"
I turned and saw Toph had emerged from her tent.
"How far away is it?" I asked, sitting up and allowing Bubbles to cling onto my shoulders.
Sokka covers his face with his sleeping bag and speaks in a muffled voice. "Maybe we can close our eyes just for a few minutes."
"I don't think so, Sokka." Aang reasons and I look the way he was facing and see smoke billowing from behind the trees.
Soon enough, we all boarded Appa and took off. I could barely walk because I was so exhausted, I just need like two hours of sleep and I'm good to go.
Behind us, that machine was still following us at a rapid pace.
"Seriously, what is that thing?" Katara asked the question we were all thinking.
"And how does it keep finding us?" Toph added.
"I don't know." Aang said. I rested my head on his shoulder, barely keeping my eyes open. "But this time, I'm going to make sure we lose it."
We flew miles and miles away from our previous location and Aang made it very difficult for that machine to follow us. It would almost be impossible for them to follow us here.
Appa lands on a flat-surface rock bed and rolls onto his side causing us all to fall off.
"Okay, forget about setting up camp." Sokka dismisses and crawls in his sleeping bag. "I'm finding the softest pile of dirt and going to sleep."
I sat on the ground next to my sister and laid down. Bubbles crawled into my arms and purrs quietly.
"That's good because Toph wasn't going to help anyway!"
I rolled my eyes at this. I can't believe Katara is still not over this whole thing, we have more important matters at hand.
"Oh, I didn't realize the baby still needed someone to tuck her in bed." Toph fires back, irritated with my sister.
"Come on guys, there's something after us and we don't even know what or who it is." Aang reasoned, pulling the top part of his shirt over his face.
"It could be Zuko." Katara guessed and I felt my stomach drop at his name. I accidentally let him take Aang and I won't let him do it again. "We haven't seen him since the North Pole."
"Who's Zuko?" Toph asked and I turned away from everyone.
"Oh, just some angry freak with a ponytail who's tracked us all over the world." Sokka answered.
"He also wants to capture Aang." I added, bitterly.
"What's wrong with ponytails, Ponytail?" Katara asked, mockingly.
"This is a warrior's wolf-tail." Sokka protested pointing to his ponytail.
"Well, it certainly tells the other warriors that you're fun and perky." Katara jokes.
Aang noticed my expression and gave me a worried look. He rolled over to face me and we made eye contact.
"Anyway, whoever's chasing us couldn't have followed us here, so, now would everyone just shhh?" Sokka told us and Aang didn't remove his eyes from me.
"Are you okay, Aya?" He asked me in a whisper tone.
I nodded, "Just tired and worried about that thing following us."
I was scared of that machine finding us but that mention of it possibly being Zuko made me even more scared. I can't let him take Aang, not again. I almost broke down after the last time he did.
"Don't worry, whoever is chasing us won't hurt you." Aang assured me and I can see the determination in his eyes.
It's not me I'm worried about. It's Aang.
I wasn't able to reply because Aang rose and looked ahead of me. I rolled over and listened to the ground vibrating beneath me.
Don't tell me.
"Oh, don't tell me." Sokka mumbled with his face in hands.
The machine had found us.
"Seriously?" I asked with disbelief. I stood up with my arms folded.
"That's impossible. There's no way they could have tracked us." Aang shook his head.
"I can feel it with my own two feet!" Toph mentions. Aang runs to the edge of the cliff and I followed him to see what was chasing us.
In the distance, I could see smoke rising at the end of the pathway.
"Let's get out of here." Katara suggests.
"Maybe we should face them. Find out who they are. Who knows, maybe they're friendly." Aang reasons and I placed my hand on his shoulder.
"I appreciate the optimism but they don't look friendly." I told the Avatar and he glances at me.
The machine abruptly stops and something on the machine opens. Smoke pours out and three figures appear in the shadows, walking out. They appeared to be riding on giant lizards creatures and my eyes widened when I recognized them.
It was the three girls from Omashu that attacked us. I know one of their names, Azula, but the others I don't know.
All five of us stood on top of the hill, watching the three girls. Soon enough, the three of them sped toward us riding their lizard friends at a rapid pace.
"It's those three girls from Omashu!" Katara exclaimed and we all assume our battle stances. I take out my daggers ready to fight.
"We can take them, four on three." Toph says and Sokka interrupts.
"Actually, Toph, there's five of us."
"Oh. I'm sorry, I didn't count you. You know, no bending and all."
I froze at this. Did she figure out I'm a firebender?
"I can still fight!" Sokka yells, furiously. "And Aya is not a bender."
Toph looked confused for a moment. "Oh. I just assumed she was." Toph shakes her head. "Okay, four on three plus Sokka."
Sokka growls furiously at this. I tried my best to ignore the fact that Toph believed I was a bender, but it was hard. Maybe she felt the vibrations or something I'm not sure but it's bothering me now.
Toph suddenly bends three columns of rocks toward the girls, however, the lizards leap over and continue their way toward us.
"Well, we wanted to find out who they were and we found out." Sokka states before Aang, Katara, and I flew from the scene. Aang grabs my hand along the way.
I heard a huge explosion behind us as we were boarding Appa and saw that the girls had broke through a large rock wall.
The girl with black hair throws small darts at us but Toph swiftly dodged them and lands on the saddle of Appa.
"Appa, yip yip!"
Appa ascends in sky as a huge fire blast gets fired at us but Appa barely misses it.
Minutes later, we were peacefully flying in the sky. All of us were exhausted from the constant flying and Appa wasn't doing to good either.
"I can't believe those girls followed us all the way from Omashu." Katara mentioned.
"I still think we could've taken them." Toph grumpily states.
"Are you kidding me?" Katara exclaimed. "The crazy blue firebending and the flying daggers are bad enough, but last time we saw them, one of those girls did something that took my bending away. That's scary."
Over the nearest hill, the sun began to rise over the horizon and I groaned against Aang's shoulder.
"Oh no, the sun is rising. We've been up all night with no sleep!" Sokka complained.
"Sokka, we'll be okay." Aang assured him.
"Are you sure? I've never not slept before!" Sokka blurts out, frantically. "What if I fall asleep now and something happens?! And something always happens!"
"Sokka, you're overreacting." I wearily told him, lifting my head up to glance at my anxious brother.
"Every time we land, those girls are there. So we'll just have to keep flying." Katara suggested.
"We can't keep flying forever." Aang reasons.
Aang let out a yawn which caused me to yawn.
"So, what's our plan?" He asks with my head falling on his shoulder again.
All of us were about to fall asleep again. I can barely keep my eyes open at this point.
"Don't know," Toph said, wearily. "Too tired to think."
"I'm pretty sure we'll come up with something after a short nap." Katara says.
"Yes. Sleep." Sokka spoke with relief.
Suddenly, I felt my body get lifted into the air and my eyes shot open and I looked at Aang who was the same. I grabbed onto the Airbender who held onto the reigns.
The others were hanging onto the saddle, alarmed.
"What's going on?!" Toph yells over the wind that was blowing passed us.
"Appa fell asleep!"
I looked at Appa's eyes and they were shut.
All of us yell out in fear as we free fall to our doom. Aang hands me the reigns carefully as he crawls down to Appa's face.
"Wake up, buddy!"
We got closer and closer to the ground and I was for certain we were gonna fall to our death.
Before we made contact, my body slammed into Appa's head and I had to grip onto Appa's reigns tightly. Appa managed to wake up, but we were now flying through the trees and collided with multiple trees and branches.
I felt arms wrap around me and I held onto the person that held me.
Appa abruptly came to a stop outside the forest and I laid on Appa's head feeling dead. That was eventful and scary.
I look at my arms and saw several cuts and marks from the branches. They weren't bad but they could get infected.
"Appa's exhausted." Aang said and I opened my eyes to see he had hopped off Appa.
I slid off the bison and almost fell down but Aang caught me before doing so.
"Okay, we've put in a lot of distance between us and them. The plan right now is to follow Appa's lead and get some sleep." Sokka explained to us as my sister and him trudged through the grass.
"Of course, we could've gotten some sleep earlier, if Toph didn't have such issues."
"WHAT?!"
Not again. I though we were over this.
Aang and I walked over to the group.
"Alright, alright, everyone's exhausted. Let's just get some rest." Aang suggested trying to keep the mood calm. I sat on the ground, resting my chin on my hand.
"Please." I whined. Bubbles purred in response from my lap.
"No, I want to hear what Katara has to say. You think I have issues?" Toph interjected, angered.
"I'm just saying. Maybe if you helped out earlier, we could have set up our camp faster and gotten some sleep." Katara explained and rose her voice. "Then maybe we wouldn't be in this situation!"
Sokka, in the distance, lies sleepily on the sleeping bag.
"You're blaming me for this?!" Toph exclaimed, walking closer to the waterbender.
Aang rushes inbetween the two to stop the madness.
"No! No! She's not blaming you!"
"No, I'm blaming her!" Katara corrected.
"Hey!" Toph tosses Aang out of the way. "I never asked you for diddly-doo-dah. I carry my own weight. Besides, if there's anyone to blame, it's Sheddy over here!"
Lovely, let's anger the Avatar. Smart idea.
"What? You're blaming Appa?" Aang asks.
"Yeah, you want to know how they keep finding us?" Toph grabs a handful of Appa's fur and lets the wind take it away. "He's leaving a trail everywhere we go!"
"How dare you blame Appa! He saved your life three times today!" Aang protested, hopping off Appa. "If there's anyone to blame it's you! You're always talking about how you carry your own weight, but you're not. He is! Appa's carrying your weight. He never had a problem flying when it was just the four of us!"
I'm surprised Aang didn't enter the Avatar State, but I'm glad he didn't.
Toph didn't response and just walked off. She grabs her bag along the way.
"I'm outta here."
I stood up a this and looked at Toph sadly.
"Wait!" Sokka stopped her but she swiftly moved him to the side with her bending. "Huh?"
Toph continues to leave without another word.
Once Toph was out of sight, Aang regretted what he did.
We were all upset. I liked Toph, she was sassy and fun.
"What did I just do?!" Aang cried out and slumps over. I grabbed his shoulder, comfortingly. "I can't believe I yelled at my earthbending teacher. Now she's gone."
"I know. We're all just trying to get used to each other. And I was so mean to her." Katara adds and I didn't disagree with them.
"Yeah, you two were pretty much jerks." Sokka agreed.
"Yeah, you were." I added and Aang glanced at me along with Katara.
"Thanks, guys." Katara sarcastically said.
"No problem." Sokka said.
"We need to find Toph and apologize." I suggested, standing up and helped Aang up to his feet.
"Okay, but what are we going to do about the tank full of dangerous ladies chasing us?" Sokka questions.
"I have a plan." Aang told us.
Aang's brilliant plan was to give the bison a bath.
Aang and Katara bended water onto the bison as he laid in the river that was nearby and Sokka, Momo, Bubbles, and I scrubbed him clean.
Not to long after that, Appa was clean and not shedding anymore.
"Toph was right. The fur was leaving a trail right to us. But now that he's clean, no more trail." Aang mentions to us.
"Are you sure he's okay to fly?" I asked, worried for our bison friend.
"He'll be fine as long as we leave his saddle and all our stuff here." Aang assured me before picking up satchel and putting fur inside of it. "I'm going to use Appa's fur to make a fake trail to lead the tank off-course."
Katara and Sokka boarded Appa but I turned to Aang.
"Stay safe." I told him, but it was more like an order.
"I will." He told me. I planted a soft kiss on his cheek which turned bright pink.
I smiled softly at him before turning away and getting on Appa.
We took off immediately after.
——
"Toph couldn't have made it too far." Sokka mentions as we flew over a forested area. Momo and Bubbles both begin to chitter and rear up defensively. "What is it, Momo and Bubbles? Ooooh, no! Katara! Aya!"
We all turn to see two of the girls chasing us on their lizard friends in hot pursuit.
"How did they find us?" Katara asked in shock.
If there are only two that means Azula is after Aang. I felt my chest tighten at the thought of Azula capturing him.
"Appa, come on!" I encouraged the exhausted bison, who was growing more and more tired.
"We need to go faster!" Sokka called, urgently.
Appa wasn't listening.
"He's too tired!" Katara exclaims.
"Not good! Not good!" Sokka yells and Appa grunts in response. Up ahead, there was a river and I petted Appa fo help him. "We just need to make it across that river!"
"You got this, Appa!" I encouraged him, rubbing his fur.
"Come on Appa, just a little further..." Katara pleaded.
Along the way, Appa crashed into many treetops and some branches flung off. Behind us, the girl with black hair launched a flurry of darts at us. I quickly reacted and blocked them with my daggers before they hit Sokka.
We approached the river and Appa skims it before crashing on the other side of the river.
I lifted my head up and smiled.
"Yay! We made it!" I cheered and petted the tired bison.
"We're safe!"
"You did it, Appa!"
The three of us embrace happily, but Katara gasps and we turn to see the lizards paddling across the river.
Predictable.
Katara waterbends at them, but the girl in the pink leaps off the lizard to dodge it. Unfortunately, the lizard got blasted away. The girl in the pink leaps from tree to tree swiftly before landing next to Katara and attempts to strike her. Katara dodges her movements.
The other girl fires darts at Katara but I quickly slide in and knocked them away with my daggers and Sokka tosses his boomerang at the black haired girl, but she leaps off her lizard before it hit her. She sends more darts but Sokka knocks them away and she charges at Katara and I causing us to run away leaving Sokka and the pink girl alone.
Katara and I run into a tree and she attempted to bend the water but the girl pins both of our wrist to the tree. Sokka hops over to us and falls in his face, unable to use any limbs of his and the other girl joins us.
"How you two doing?" Sokka asked us.
"Well, you know." Katara frantically answered.
"I thought when Ty Lee and I finally caught you guys it would be more exciting." The black haired girl mentioned. "Oh well, victory is boring."
I now know two out of the three girls names. Azula and Ty Lee, just missing the black haired girl's name.
Suddenly Appa appeared and knocked the two girls into the water with his tail.
"Thanks, Appa. I don't know what we'd do without you." Sokka stated before Appa licked Sokka covering him in slobber.
——
After dealing with the two girls, we flew on Appa to try and find Aang. It took a while but we found him in a broken down village. We got off Appa and Katara and I sprinted toward the building we saw Aang in with Azula. The building has fire on the inside and Aang was trapped.
Katara sends a water whip at Azula and grabs her wrist with it. I send my dagger toward Aang freeing him for the board he was trapped under.
"Aya! Katara!" Aang beamed.
Azula fires her bending at Katara and I causing us run out. I stay behind and help Aang out of the boards.
"I'm so glad you're okay." I told him, helping him up. We immediately hug tightly before we leave the building and surround Azula. Azula strikes at Aang who leaps in the air and Katara bends water at her but Azula fights it off with her fire. Azula fires at me but I swiftly dodge it and she lastly attacks Sokka who dodged it too.
Azula continues to fire at us but we didn't get hit once. Suddenly, Azula is thrown to her feet and behind her stood Toph.
"I thought you guys could use a little help." She smiled.
"Thanks." Katara told her. Azula fires a few more blasts at us before she runs down an alley only to bump into another figure. I recognized that person as Iroh and next to him was Zuko.
All seven of us surround Azula as we backed her up into a corner.
"Well, looks at this. Enemies and traitors, all working together. I'm done." Azula raises her hands in surrender. "I know when I'm beaten. You got me. A princess surrenders with honor."
Silence struck us for a moment. Nobody moved a muscle and it became tense because we knew Azula would not surrender.
Out of nowhere, Azula strikes and fires a blast at Iroh who yells in pain and falls to the floor.
Zuko yelled with horror when he saw Iroh fall down. The four benders of the group, minus myself, blasted each element that they possessed at Azula and a huge explosion occurred. Sokka held me close as the explosion happened and the town got covered in fire and smoke. Most of the smoke vanished to reveal that Azula had escaped leaving all of us in shock.
Noticing Zuko and Iroh, we went up to them and Zuko was in tears.
"Get away from us!" Zuko yelled at us.
I stared at Iroh with sorrow and felt my lip quiver. I don't really know him, but all my dreams tell me that I do and that he is my biological father.
"Zuko, I can help." Katara offered.
"LEAVE!"
Zuko blasts an arc of fire at us with anger and sadness and the five of us run out of the burning village. I glanced back at Iroh and felt tears fall from my cheeks at the sight of his unconscious body.
