Right Here, Right Now

Aya's POV

We spent all day and night flying on Appa and we finally decided to take a small break to regenerate our energy.

Aang and Katara practiced waterbending for a bit, Toph was relaxing, and Sokka was eating.

I didn't have much to do. It sucks knowing I can't openly practice my firebending. Katara is the only one who knows and I'm way to afraid to do it in front of her because the others might see it.

I sat a few feet from Toph and watched the Avatar waterbend with my sister.

My eyes locked onto him and I felt myself smile at the sight. After a few months of traveling with him and getting to know, I will admit I've fallen for the young Airbender.

He's just so kind and lovable and it's impossible to not like him. When we kissed in the cave, I knew I had fallen for him. He's the one.

I know I'm only twelve and have many years till I'm eighteen but I think Aang is the one.

"Staring is rude, Aya."

I jumped slightly from my spot on the ground and turned to see Sokka looking at me. Toph has fallen asleep and Sokka has moved over to me.

"I'm not staring. I'm watching them." I corrected him.

I heard him chuckle, "no, you're watching Aang. Just him."

Sokka has joked about mine and Aang's relationship before and it bugs me.

"Why does it matter?" I asked him now turning my attention to my brother.

"Listen, I know you like Aang it's obvious." Sokka mentioned and I averted my eyes, blushing.

"Even I know it and I've been with you guys a day." Toph suddenly spoke and we looked at her. She had one eye open and a smug smile. "I'm blind but it's obvious."

I rolled my eyes and stood up.

"Whatever." I muttered before I walked over to the two benders in the water.

"Oh! Aya!" Aang's voice echoed in my ears and I gave him a smile. Bubbles swam over to me and I picked her up. "Watch this!"

Aang performed an exquisite waterbending move and I applauded him. He truly is amazing.

"Wow! That's amazing, Aang." I praised and he blushed at my words. "You're quite the teacher, Katara."

"Thanks." Katara grinned. "Well, Aang, I believe we've trained enough today."

They bowed before Katara left the lake we were in. Bubbles hopped out of my arms and began to swim around more.

I giggled at this.

Aang and I were left alone in the lake. The others minded their own business, I hope.

"Um...Aya." I looked towards Aang and he seemed nervous.

"Yes?" I asked. I walked toward him so we can could be a foot away from another. Aang grew about an inch or two so I was even smaller now compared to him.

He played with his fingers and I was concerned. Aang is not one to get nervous, so this worried me.

"It's okay. You can tell me." I assured him, kindly.

He nodded softly and let out a small breath.

"Okay, I was wondering if y-you wanted t-to go on a date or something. Just us." Aang's face turned bright red and my cheeks heated up.

He wants to date me? The Avatar asking a normal girl out.

I stuttered for a moment and nodded. "Yeah, I loved to."

I rubbed my arm and averted my eyes, smiling.

"Aw!"

We both jumped and saw my siblings and Toph standing idly at the shoreline of the lake.

"Guys..." I mumbled, feeling embarrassed.

"What? It's cute!" Katara cooed with a huge smile.

"Come on, girls. Let's leave them be." Sokka suggested and all three of them parted ways.

My eyes found Aang's and he was looking right at me.

"So...the date?" He nervously asked me and I nodded with a small smile. "Tonight. We can do whatever. I'll be happy as long as I'm with you."

I giggled with pink cheeks. "Yeah. Sounds great."

——

That night, Aang and I had our date. Nothing was really planned to my knowledge but I knew it was going to be amazing because I'm going to be with him.

My hair was brushed out and I had my normal flower crown on. Katara and I aren't to fond of makeup materials; we believe a natural face is the best kind of face.

"It's finally happening." Katara gushed to me and I blushed. "You and Aang finally admitted your feelings."

I rolled my eyes playfully at her and shook my head. "It's just a simple date."

"Yeah, but this could turn into something amazing. Boyfriend and girlfriend, eh?"

I think Katara is more excited about this date then me.

"Let's not get ahead of ourselves." I told her, putting my hands on her shoulders.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Aang and Sokka approach us. Aang was wearing his normal attire but didn't have his staff.

"I hate to be this way, but no funny business. This is my baby sister." Sokka instructed Aang and we both blushed.

"Sokka, I'm not a little girl anymore." I reasoned with my brother.

"To me, you'll always be my baby sister." Sokka told me.

"You sound like dad." I mentioned and Sokka rolled his eyes.

"Whatever. Go on, you two love birds." He pushed Aang toward me and we ended up being an inch apart from one another.

I giggled and backed up.

"Have fun." Katara smiled.

"See ya." Toph spoke before shutting her milky, green orbs.

Aang put out his hand for me and grinned nervously. "Ready?"

I nodded and took his hand. My heart fluttered at his touch, like it always does.

Aang and I strolled through the forest we set camp in. About a minute had passed and it was silent it wasn't an awkward silence, it was a peaceful silence.

"So," I spoke up, breaking the silence. "What are we going to do?"

"Well," Aang scratched the back of his head and chuckled nervously. "I didn't have much planned. I didn't expect you to agree to go on this date with me if I'm being honest."

I gave him a look and smiled. "Why?"

He shrugged at this. We left the forest and the beautiful night sky shined above us.

I stared up at the sky and felt a small breeze go by making my hair blow.

Third Person's POV

Aang stated at the Water Tribe Girl and smiled at her softly. His feelings for her grow everyday and hopes one day he can finally call her his.

Aang squeezed Aya's hand making her glance at him. He adores the young firebender with all his heart and wants nothing bad happening to her.

"Aya." Aang blurted out and she turned to him. His heart was pounding out of his chest almost to the point where Aya could hear it.

"Yes?"

"I-I really like you."

He did it. Aang admitted his feelings to his crush.

Aya beamed at the news and giggled. She couldn't believe it and tucked a piece of her brown hair behind her ear.

"I really like you too."

Aang's eyes went wide and he smiled brightly.

"Really?!"

Aya giggles once again and nods. "Yes. Very much."

She looked down with pink cheeks and Aang put his finger under her chin. He gently lifted her face making eye contact with him.

Aya's eyes dazzled in the moonlight.

"Can I kiss you?"

Aya didn't response to his question and bravely leaned up to meet his lips. Her hands touched his shoulders and Aang leaned back in shock.

He couldn't believe it. He was kissing Aya. The most beautiful girl in the world.

He smiled softly and kissed back, gently grabbing her hips.

The kiss lasted about ten seconds before they parted. Their foreheads were touching and they both were smiling at one another.

Both of them were in love and no one could deny it. A war was going on right now and Aang had a job to do, but the only thing he could think about was Aya.

Aya rested her head on his shoulder and Aang held her close. Aya smiled happily and did not want this moment to end, she wanted it to last forever.

Right here, right now was where they wanted to be forever.
