Chapter 8: The World Is Full Of Weirdness

You would think that I already know the world is full of weirdness, you know like the fact my dad is the Hulk. Like, The Hulk.

But, noooo, some dude with some weirdass (sorry dad!) metal arm had to take the cake on weirdness. Like really, who the heck (better dad?) did this guy think he was.

We were minding our own business somewhere in Europe when this guy (it was a guy right? The long hair is hard to tell) tried to detain my dad.

Like, really. Like no one else has tried. This guy's confidence was clearly larger than Tony Stark's ego, and let me tell you, according to dad, it's pretty darn (really dad?) high.

Of course we never met Tony Stark so I wouldn't really know that now would I? Wait, am I off topic? Anyway, Metal Arm decided that taking dad was the next best future for whatever organization he worked for (definitely not for General Ross, he had this look in his eye).

So, what happens when someone does something to dad he doesn't really like or can handle, he turns into a fluffy bunny who does what he wants.

In this case though, this fluffy bunny is a giant green monster who I love dearly. That's what matters right? Who cares if people are afraid of him, I'm not.

Should I just say the story instead of telling it? Wait what's the difference, you know what who cares let's get into more details shall we?

-------------------------------------------

We had just celebrated my seventh birthday somewhere in Europe, though we were speaking Swedish so it can't be more than a few places I was just lazy to find out exactly where we were.

It was going well, we did our signature breakfast that had pancakes and the usual when suddenly this man who was rocking long hair crashed through the places window.

Very discreet, he wasn't. Wait, was that Yoda? Anyway ignore that, the people were screaming (Is there a way to scream in Swedish?) and were running out of the door.

Dad, like the nonviolent man he was, tried to talk the guy down all the while making sure I ducked under the booth we were at and press against the wall.

I was tempted to ignore him but this man, something was different. It was like he was moving like a man on a mission not caring who he hurts.

There was also something in his eyes, something that I only caught a glimpse of, his black liner that was suppose to help cover his eyes.

It was void, like he was there but not really. It was hard to explain for some reason. He moved to dad swiftly and silently and grabbed onto his wrist.

It was obvious that any attempts to negotiate with the man was going to fail. The thing was, he punched dad square in the nose knocking him out and I hid a wince as a all-too-familiar crack pierced the air.

Dad swayed backward before the guy moved to lift him onto his shoulders, but something weird happen.

Dad's eyes opened when it was clear he should've been knocked out. Instead of their calming brown, it was a piercing green that made promise of painful regret.

It might've been the only time in my life I would say that I was afraid of the man in front of me that I call father, not because of the look in his eye.

It was because The Hulk, the alter ego of my dad, wasn't changing. Wasn't turning into this rage monster that everyone believed he was.

I moved out of the table just to stare at what I was seeing. The man turned and froze as we stared at each other. I moved carefully out of the table and slowly toward dad.

We kept each other's eyes on me, I ducked behind The Hulk and watched the man, something shone in his eyes, like he remembered something.

He was just staring the man down, "Leave." The Hulk gruffed and narrowed his eyes at the unknown assailant, still not turning into the green beast he was known for.

The man clearly didn't want to, like something was on his mind making him stay but I saw he made no move toward dad, or the Hulk, whatever. The Hulk's eyes pierced the man, "Leave before forget." he gruffed and I watched as the man tilted his head.

Contemplating what dad was saying, it was like a slow-action movie from then. The man's stare went from dads to me.

We stared at one another, I wasn't afraid. Wasn't confused. Wasn't really anything. Then a spell was broken, sirens wailed outside the window.

The man turned, and just walked away.

"We need to go." I said grabbing The Hulk's hand and dragging him toward the back exit hoping it wasn't crowded with police yet.

Hulk gruffed, probably like he was agreeing but it was always kinda hard to tell with him. Before I knew it, dad really was in his Hulk form and we got away a lot quicker than just disappearing into the crowd.

We landed a bit away, isolated, no one in eyesight or ear. I huffed as The Hulk set me down, "Next time dad, learn a thing or two about blending into the crowd instead of bounding away." I said but as I turned to face him, I was met with dad sleeping silently along a log, probably not hearing anything what I had said.

I rolled my eyes and went to fetch firewood.

Later, when dad asked me what happened. I told him that The Hulk did what he normally did, protected us, and the man left no harm done.

Of course dad was skeptical that no harm was done but hey, I could live with that. No need for dad to know the whole truth and then spend a week finding out why or how the Hulk did that.

Plus, I never finished that pancake and I would like to.
