Chapter 2- Promises

I woke up smelling new surrounds and took my fist and rubbed it against my eyes trying to clear them and wake me up.

Last time I was awake hit me like a bag of bricks and my eyes started to tear up. My hands shook as I look at them as if the blood was still there.

My breathing start to go shallow and my surrounds started to fade as I was breathing heavy. I felt someone by me and looked up fast my breathing still shallow as I expected Gabe.

But what happened was that the man that I met yesterday was there with some wood but he dropped them and ran over to me.

I felt safe for some reason so when he was by me I flew into his arms sobbing my voice finally shaking out of being shallow as I felt safe.

The man's arms wrapped around me and held me as I sobbed into his shirt. The guy didn't seem to mind that I was getting his shirt wet and I was thankful.

After a few minutes and I was finally able to relax my shoulders relaxed from their tense state when I was crying and sagged toward the ground.

The man continued to comfort me and I was able to swallow the lump in my throat and stopped my sops enough to ask quietly, "What's your name?"

The man pulled back a bit to take a look a me and I still felt tears pricking my eyes but I needed a distraction.

The man seemed to know what I was going through because he had a sad smile and replied, "Bruce." his voice equally quiet.

"I'm Percy." I said and finally took a look around the small forest we were in, "Why are we in the forest?" I asked my voice gaining some of it's volume but not enough where it's inside voice.

The man winced and I decided to change the subject for him, "Why did you take me with you?" I asked not harshly but more out of curiosity.

"I couldn't leave you alone." The man said it like it was obvious but not in the sense as if I was a child. I rather liked bruce, he was someone who didn't treat me like a child. Like mom!

"Others do." I muttered mostly to myself trying to regain some composers. This guy didn't leave me like everyone else I knew!

"I wouldn't leave you." The man said sternly as if it was an unannounced promise but it seemed it was for himself and not me.

"Promise?" I asked my voice showing vulnerability.

Bruce looked into my eyes and it showed determination and a promise he was determined as he said, "I promise."
