Chapter 12: The Eyes of My...Enemy?
Some people seemed to have forgotten that Poseidon is Percy's grandfather...so he can't really be his dad. And I don't know if I want Loki to be Percy's dad but there was a comment that got me thinking.
The comment was that Tony might actually be Percy's real dad, and I have to say I actually like the idea and fascinated with how that would play with Bruce and Tony's friendship. I do want Loki to be a sort of uncle to Percy though and not exactly his father, but it's still a possibility.
I pulled myself from the memory to stare in shock at the man in front of before coiling my expression (something I hadn't done since I lived with Gabe) and strolled to the sort of metal gate around the place.
Frowning I slipped under it and just rested my hands there and folded them so I could place my chin there. I stayed like that, Loki (or apparently 'Oki') and I just stared at one another.
"So." I said feeling restless suddenly and shifted from one foot to the other, "How'd you know my mom?" I asked and winced at the bluntness of the statement.
I was about to ramble on trying to fix my sentence but Loki just shook his head in amusement and raised his hand slightly, instantly I paused and tilted my head straining to make sure I heard him.
"I see you remember me?" Loki said his tone showed amusement and I glanced at the doors, wondering why anyone hasn't stormed in here yet.
But then I focused back to Loki and shrugged while I climbed the somewhat metal fence to just sit on the corner where the two met, "Partly. Just a memory, distant memory. Did I really call you Oki?" I asked feeling amused at myself and saw Loki smile lightly, I also noticed that his eyes were changing from blue to green, back to blue, before staying on green as he sat on his cell floor looking more relaxed than I had seen him earlier.
"You did. After a few more visits you actually started calling my "Unk (Similar to Hunk but without the H) Oki. You had so much trouble pronouncing words back then." Loki said shaking his head probably remembering a time when I called him things wrong.
I puffed my chest, "You're just jealous cause you aren't as awesome as I am." I told him back and saw Loki chuckle lightly.
"Sure that's why." Loki said grinning and I gave him a small grin back until I looked around again.
"Okay I just gotta know because it's killing my insides and you know we can't have that." I said leaning forward on the rails I was sitting on slightly, "Why exactly did you allow yourself to be captured?" I asked tilting my head as I examined Loki.
I watched as his eyes went from the emerald green back to the cold, distant blue before they started to blend into one another. I frowned and jumped off the railings and saw Loki flinch back.
"Loki." I asked slightly reaching toward him but I saw him sneer instead. Though, instead of feeling fear, or the need to protect myself, I felt confused and maybe a little hurt.
"Loki what's wrong with your eyes." I asked and saw the man snarl at me and made himself stand taller and more intimidating.
"Nothing is wrong you useless, pathetic mortal child." Loki snarled but I didn't feel fazed at it for some reason but glared at Loki feeling frustrated he wasn't letting me help.
"Something is wrong. Your eyes keep changing from blue to green back to blue. What's wrong!" I half-asked, half-shouted at him and this time saw his eyes change red.
The abrupt change made me startle backward and Loki to flinch before a sneer to his place, "This is who I am child. The monster people tell are under the bed." Loki snarled and I stood up fuming.
"Well that's not true, because you know what I see?" I challenged and took a breath steeling my anger, "I see a man that was lied to all his life, pushed away and felt unloved or unwanted. I know this, because people who have experienced the same thing can see another one of them." I said glaring at Loki who was just staring back, his eyes changing back from blue or green, "I see a man who has always acted guarded, non-emotional, because at a young age you learnt he world sucks."
"That life might seem totally and stupidly unfair and at time you want to give up. Well suck it up. You may think you're a monster and or a horrible person for some god know reasons. You may think people fear you for who you truly are, well guess what. I don't. I could care less about your red eyes that probably go to a whole other thing."
"I don't care and I think it's time for you to stop caring too." I said finally taking a breath from my rant and just stared at Loki who's eyes was still changing, but seemed to be leaning toward green, "You make your own decisions in life. It's time for you to do that." I said softly and watched as Loki's eyes went green and stayed that way.
We watched each other for a moment, but Loki seemed distracted like his mind was somewhere else. I almost got sidetracked in my own head for a second before Loki softly said, "You may be correct."
I stared at him before nodding softly, "I know for a fact you are a kind person under all that hate. Because you were my moms friend, and I know she didn't have that many that she trusted to watch me." I said softly before just sitting back on the rails and just stared at Loki who had sat back down again and seemed to be in his head.
We sat like that for what seemed to be an hour, which was probably just fifteen minutes, before the guy that was talking to Steve, Captain America, earlier entered trying to act calm but I could tell he seemed almost panicked.
"There you are Percy!" he said breathing out a sigh of relief as he casted a wary glance at Loki who had only looked to see who had come in before he stared at the wall again, "You're father was worried."
That drew Loki's attention and his lip curled inward a little, almost like a sneer but I just rolled my eyes with a soft sigh, "Bruce is just a worrywart." I said and saw confusion enter Loki's eyes, interesting.
"I think he has a good reason this time." the man said as he lifted me off the railing! I wasn't five! Only dad can lift me!
I huffed but didn't comment and allowed the man to usher me out of the room. Part of me wanted to turn back around and wave goodbye to Loki, but instead I just concentrated on some sort of connection and just whispered, "Bye Uncle Oki." I thought and barely heard my voice and didn't know if my message got through.
"Till later my nephew." Loki's clear voice in my head said making me smile. Till next time indeed, I hope you eyes stay green until then.
