The unavenged

This new world

I was looking up at the sky. It was cloudy, as if a storm just ended.

"How is it up there?" I Asked the sky. My voice was higher than usual, like a child's "Up in heaven?"

There was no answer, except for a light gust of wind which made my face almost freeze. But I didn't mind

"Will you tell me if you ever get the chance?" I asked.

I sat there, waiting for an answer. I felt another slight breeze. I smiled

"Hopefully." I stood up. I stood shorter than I usually did

"Jake!" I heard a woman call. It sounded familiar, and important. "Come here we have to go! Aren't you tired?!"

"I'm just talking to James mommy, Just a moment!" I yelled

I walked over to a shade port which was being taken down by construction workers. There was a hole in front me,with a coffin in it. In front of the hole was a stand, with a face that teenage, and looked like me. Below the picture gold letters printed јамеѕ Ѕ. Nixon.

"Jake!" Those weren't Adele's or any other person's lyrics I woke up to. "Are ya awake!?"

It was Alain. I sat up. I was still cold, because all I had for a blanket was a deer skin.

I walked outside and yawned.

"There he is!" Alain pointed me out "That is the man who showed up last night"

There were two other people standing by him. One was a woman, and the other was a scrawny teenager.

"Jake, I would like you to meet two new people" Benor said "This is my wife aria"

She had long blonde hair which dropped to the lower section of her back. She had sky blue eyes and a beautiful face. She was wearing a long white dress with a leather vest.

If my girlfriend were here she would instantly get mad at her fashion.

She was like a more modern version of Aria. Shorter hair and she had a southern drawl. And her name was Jesse.

"This is Maximus" Alain patted the teen's back "He is my younger brother"

"They were sleeping last night when you came." Benor said

"So that's Jake?" Aria said

"Yeah" Benor said

"Should I go milk the cattle?" Tyrin said to Benor

"Yes" Benor said "And take Jake with you,"

"Come on" Tyrin said to me. We got up and we walked to Benor's house.

"Stay here" He said as he went inside.

He came out with a bunch of

buckets.

We were in a small village of cottages. They were 7 cottages in a circle around a campfire with a large campfire in the the middle. In the lower part of the village there were fences which had cows and pigs and a few sheds on either side of the fence.

We walked to the fences and into through a little gate.

"Do you know what to do?" Tyrin handed me two buckets.

"Not really" I responded. But I knelt down anyways beside a cow. "But let me try.''

I reached inter it and felt the utters. I put the bucket under the cow and began milking.

"Yeah I think I'm fine." I said

Tyrin knelt down beside another cow and milked it.

"So are you Benor's brother?" I asked Tyrin.

"Brother?" He laughed "I'm his son."

"Oh," I laughed. He looked a little old for how young Benor looked

"How old are you?" I asked him

"Eighteen" He said

"What about your dad"

Once the first bucket was full I switched the bucket with the second. I milked the cow more and then I was done.

I followed Tyrin back to the hangout area. He set down the buckets on a log which was cut flat. He started to pour some of the milk in wooden cups. I did the same.

"I'm back!" I heard Cerius yell. I looked toward him. He had a bow on him and a quiver and was carrying a drag bag.

"Let's start breakfast!" Benor said

Cerius pit down the bag and opened it. All I saw was meat. I made a disgusted face.

He picked up some of the meat and stuck a stick in it. He put it above the fire and rotisseried the meat.

And that is what I had for lunch.

"What animal is this?" I said as I chomped into it. It didn't taste like chicken or Pork.

"Stag" Cerius said. He put a piece into his mouth.

"Stag? Isn't that like a deer?" I said

"A male deer." Benor said

"Benor," Cerius said "I might have to go again, Because we are very low on food, and the pigs haven't given birth yet."

"Alright, Maube Jake can go to, and you can tech him to shoot a bow." Benor said.

"We will practice here" Cerius said He brushed away some dirt on a pretty steep hill. It revealed some red stripes. He rushed some more and a target was revealed. We walked a fair distance from it and he pulled off a bow from his shoulder.

"Watch me." Cerius said. He pulled an arrow from his quiver and notched it on the string right below a copper bead. "Notice how the painted fletching is out, always have it that way"

He aimed, and released the string. The arrow flew through the air and hit the target, inches away from a bullseye.

"You try" He said.

I pulled an arrow out of a quiver, in a sloppy motion. I took a second to nock am arrow. I raised it and drew back the string. I tried to aim the point of the arrowhead on the red dot. I released and it stuck in the outer lin.

"Dang it!" I said

"Don't worry" Cerius said "You'll get better. Try again, just get used to it."

I shot a few more arrows,NAND on the last try I was a line away from a bullseye.

"Yeah!" I raised my fist in victory.

"Let's go" Cerius said "I'm getting restless."

So we walked around the field for a few minutes.

"Is this all there is out here?" I said to Cerius "grass and hills?"

"No" He looked at me "there is a city to the North, and a forest to the south. East and west are ruins if ancient cities and rougher hills."

"There" I whispered. There was another stag off in the distance

"Follow me." Cerius said. We moved around the hills to get closer.

" You shoot." Cerius said

"Ok" I said

I raised my bow and drew back the bow string with the arrow on it. I aimed, and fired. The arrow flew right into the Deer's heart area. It ran a little bit but then fell down

"Good job!" Cerius said and then ran to It

He pulled a knife out and taught me how to skin it and clean it. And I had never seen anything that gross.

"Let's go get some more." He folded my drag bag.
