Chapter 4: Where's Gwen Stacy!
=========================
Logan's standing in front of Gwen's father, a Police Captain and not the one that is on Spider-Man's side, at least George hasn't gone for his back-up piece in his desk draw which tells him that he has a chance of getting the help he came here for, he needs to keep George thinking this is about Gwen and he might walk away without him getting put in handcuffs.
George: What happened to Gwen?
This was a good start, Logan's not in handcuffs and hasn't been shot, he seems to have George's attention, sure he could put trust in George by telling him who's actually under the mask but that's just going to open up another can of issues for Logan, so he's going to keep up the "unknown vigilante" thing for a little longer.
Spider-Man: She was taken. I need your help to figure out who by. I found this near where she was kidnapped...
Logan reached into his tights to get the phone that one of the kidnappers dropped, when he did he approached the Captain showing nothing but trust in him, George noticed that but brushed it aside, they've worked together before, not since Wilson Fisk became Mayor and made Spider-Man the number 1 most Wanted man in New York, George does see why Spider-Man is good for New York but then he can also see why he's not.
George: How do you know about this?
This is a tough question to answer since he could say that she called him and he heard her getting taken over the phone, tell him the truth but then he's going to have to explain why Gwen has his phone number, he could also say that he was there but then the argument of why he didn't stop them would come up and he wouldn't have let her get taken if he was there, so he came up with the next best thing.
Spider-Man: A citizen waved me down and told me what happened. I looked around and found this...
George seemed a little skeptical at him but he didn't have another reason to how Spider-Man would have known about this, sure he has his theories but nothing he can say for sure, Logan took his silence as what it was, George questioning him but the longer they stand here debating this the longer Gwen is missing and in high risk of being hurt.
Spider-Man: ... Do you have any more questions or do you want to help me find Gwen?
George sighed as he took the phone and tried to turn it on, finding the same issue that Spider-Man had, it's dead, so with a even deeper sigh, George tried to use his own personal charger to get some power into the device, sitting down at his desk and plugging it into his computer, Logan looked around and saw the pictures of Gwen and her family on the walls and leaning on supports in the picture frames.
George: That's her mother. She's excited for her graduation in a few weeks.
Logan smiled under his mask, he knows how proud of her they both are, an internship at OSCORP that will become permanent in a few weeks time, passing all her classes with flying colours, it's a miracle she's actually with Logan in the first place, like the two are completely different people but they love each other, have done for a long time now.
Spider-Man: You have a beautiful family.
Logan continued to look around a little, George watching him as they waited for the power to turn on for the cell phone, Logan was there for most of these awards being given, he just wished that he'd be able to trust this man with his identity like he can with Gwen, He's not fully convinced that George won't slap the cuffs on him as soon as he found out, yes, George is a family man but he's a Police Captain at a very close second, Logan's not too sure where he comes into either of those categories.
George: That's Logan, I can't figure out what Gwen see's in him...
Logan looked over his right shoulder to George after looking at a picture of them both at their High School Graduation, Logan went into work and full time Spider-Man but Gwen went on to go into College and now University, gaining an incredible job with on top of that, he knew that Gwen's family didn't like him all too much, well, they definitely don't understand what Gwen see's in him but Logan's okay with that, as long as she loves him and he loves her, that's all that matters to him.
George: ... But he's a good kid. He'll be heartbroken to hear about this.
George looked back to his computer since he got a notification telling him about an alert nearby, he'll send a patrol to take a look later, his daughter's first priority to him right now, even if he has to help the most wanted man in New York right now to get her back safe then he will, Logan however smirked again at the goofy picture of them both.
Spider-Man: Yeah... I'm sure he will...
Logan remembers that day, they took so many pictures together, this one where Gwen's making a silly face with his right arm around her, kissing her cheek, he remembered when George asked Gwen for a picture of her at the graduation, he wanted the one where they were standing straight, smiling with their little pieces of paper but Gwen told him no she said "If you want a picture of us then you can have the one where we being who we are", Logan still isn't fully sure what that meant but she always had his back when it came to her family thinking little of him, now he's gone and let her down.
George: Here. I got something.
Logan snapped out of his little memory trance and self blame to go over and see what he was talking about, the phone wasn't washed out it was just dead because it switched on now, letting the Captain dig into the last contacted number which was by a cell phone asking him if the job is done, it took a second to wait to see if the Captain can get a trace on the number but when he did, Logan had hope again.
George: The numbers still in New York. If we can...
George turned around to look at Spider-Man while he's talking to him but when he did, Logan was already gone, George sighed as he leant back in his chair, swinging it around a little to see the picture that Spider-Man was just looking at moments ago, George reached for his coffee leaning back a little more in a even more relaxed position.
George: ... Go get'em kid.
Logan was more determined to find Gwen than ever before, running across buildings, swinging through trees and ignoring a lot of what's going on, he can't and won't forgive himself if something happened to Gwen, George knew that which is why he's not worried, Spider-Man will find Gwen, he just needs a little help which is why George asked for the CCTV footage of the route home he knows that Gwen takes...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Gwen found herself waking up in a dark room, at least it was dark as her eyes began to open, once her sight had adjusted, she got a better look of where she is, it's not home, that's for sure, she's currently sitting up on the single bed she was just past out on, there's a small bedside table beside her with a small lamp settled on, there's no window, no sign of light other than a small whole the door in the shape of a letterbox.
Gwen: Where am I?
She asked herself feeling her head trying to ignore the throbbing pain from being knocked out by probably chloroform, the other things in the room are pretty basic, a table with a chair, a sink and a toilet but other then that it's like a prison cell, Gwen tried to see if she can figure out where she is but can't, with no window, there was no way for her to find that out.
???: You're awake...
Gwen jumped to hearing the new voice and scurried back on the bed, Gwen looked into the corner of the room to see who spoke but before she could ask, the voice turned on another lamp to show the Mayor of New York sat there, relaxed like he hadn't just kidnapped Spider-Man's girlfriend without even realising it
Fisk: ... Finally, I was worried the men were a little too rough on you.
Gwen didn't say anything, she knows that Logan's going to find her, she knows that he's coming for her right now, she just has to wait it out as long as she can, Gwen isn't sure why she's hear though, there's no way Fisk knows who she is to Spider-Man or who Logan is because if he did then Fisk would have just killed them both already, she wouldn't be sitting here right now.
Fisk: Nothing to say? That's okay. I don't plan on keeping you around for the conversation. In fact, as soon as I have what I want...
Wilson stood up adjusting his suit again, buttoning up the first few buttons, he sighed while sliding his hands into his pants pockets, Logan told Gwen what to do in these situations and being the daughter of an NYPD Police Captain, she's been taught how to handle situations like these and it's not to antagonise her captor.
Fisk: ... I'll let you go. It's really simple. Please. Make yourself comfortable while you're here. There will be guards if you need something. A magazine perhaps.
Fisk walked towards the door, gave it a couple of knocks then waited for it to open, once it was he gave Gwen one last unsure smirk before leaving, maybe he was expecting her to argue and beg him to let her go but she doesn't need to, Logan's coming and she's going to be right here when he does, the Mayor might have bitten off more than he can chew at this point because Logan's not going to let this slide...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's getting dark now and they still haven't found Gwen, Logan's felt like he's searched the whole of the City by now and she's nowhere to be found, he couldn't possibly imagine why she was taken, it can't be because he's Spider-Man, it has to be something else, it can't be because he's Logan Kenway because Logan's a nobody, maybe it's got nothing to do with him at all, maybe it's just some low life thugs trying to get back at the Police Captain that probably sent them to the or something.
Logan: Where are you Gwen?
Logan asked himself while standing on the Empire State Eagle, looking around the City hoping to see a hug arrow pointing him to where she is but there isn't one, instead he has to find her the old fashioned way, evidence and good old timed patience, Logan didn't like waiting but as it seems he didn't need to wait long.
Yuri: Captain Stacy wants to see you. Anything I should know about?
Logan looked to his phone when the ping came in, he didn't have time to fill Yuri in right now, he has to find Gwen and if her father has found something then he needs to know what it is and fast, so he leaped off the building and speared as fast as he could towards the ground before swinging himself up and in the direction of Captain Stacy's precinct and his office.
George: Welcome back. At least this time you didn't break in.
Spider-Man climbed in through the window without a worry that he's just climbed into a trap, he knows that George will want to see Gwen home and safe, so they have a mutual desire to help the other, giving Logan his sole reason to trust this man, it's tough though because as Logan, he trusts him but as Spider-Man he has to be a little cautious.
Spider-Man: Technically I didn't break in. The Window was left open.
George looked to him in the corner of his eye as Spider-Man just shrugged, it's not illegal since he didn't break in, he just walked in... well, crawled in actually, George didn't feel the need to argue though and just sat back at his desk indicating to the computer where they have the CCTV footage from a couple of days ago of Gwen leaving work at OSCORP.
George: I had Surveillance go over Gwen's route to see if they could find something and they caught this guy a couple of times popping up every now and then...
Logan looked over the Captains shoulder as he rewound the footage to show Gwen walking back into OSCORP, after a moment, he pressed play, Logan watched her leave but just after she got out of frame, George paused it again, stopping it at a man trying to seem like he's just an everyday guy walking down the street.
George: ... We spotted him a few times over the course of a couple of days following her home.
Logan leant over to have a closer look because he's sure he's seen this guy before but before he could say anything, a knock came at the Captains door making Spider-Man jump to the ceiling as he went to answer it, turns out it was just a rookie bringing the Captain another coffee, just another kid trying to butter the wheels, so Logan dropped back down when the door shut looking back at the computer.
Spider-Man: Let me know when you have a name.
George was about to make a joke about whether he works for Spider-Man now but before he could, Logan was gone and out the window, not even looking back, George smirked, he had a feeling he'd be determined to find Gwen, after all he knows how much Gwen means to him, does he think Logan's good for her, no, it's his daughter, no one will ever be good enough for her but seeing him claw his way like this to find her, does help with his approval ratings...
