Part 6: Classic Christmas Literature

We are going to cover some of the books you can read over the festive season, including authors such as Charles Dickens, and many others.

One of the most famous books for Christmas light reading is Charles Dickens classic Christmas novella, A Christmas Carol.

The story is centred heavy on the ideals of the spirit and goodwill of Christmas. But one man believed that Christmas was a workday than a holiday. The lesson of this books is when Scrooge gets visited by the ghost of his partner, Jacob Marley the spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Future. And the book teaches us that if utilised, Christmas offers us a chance to open up to out fellow men, and Ultimately, the book teaches us about second chances as Scrooge said to the spirit of Christmas yet to come, "The spirits of past, present and future, have shown me that I can change, and to honour Christmas in my heart, forever and all of the years." And the ending of the book says, "and Scrooge was better than his word, that he became as good a friend, as good a master, and as good a man as the old city knew, and nobody kept the spirit of Christmas in his heart better than Ebonezer Scrooge."

Then there is a book that all kids love their parents to sit down and read to them as they settle down in their bed is The Night Before Christmas. It's a ad-lib poem, also known as a Visit from St. Nicholas.

Nobody knows where the idea of the night before Christmas came from, but it is great for kids to get to sleep on Christmas Eve night.

For all of the Christian children and adults out there, asides from the Bible story of the birth of Jesus Christ, there is a kids version. Called The Christmas Story.

Agatha Christie has a couple of legendary yet Christmas-worthy mystery novels, one of them is based about her most famous Belgian Sleuth, Hercule Poirot, named, Hercule Poirot's Christmas.

Agatha Christie also had a mystery about a Christmas Pudding as well. the adventure of the Christmas Pudding. Also starring Hercule Poirot.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion , The Witch and The Wardrobe is also classed as a book you can read over the festive season. But you can read it all year round.
