Part 1.5) Deep Cleaning the Bedrooms
Now for the nerve center of sleep time in the house.... The bedrooms both the parents bedroom and the kids room. The kids room is pretty straightforward, but I'll discuss that after the adults master bedroom.
Top tip: depending on how much clutter you have and plus the size of the bedrooms, the clutter and bedroom size will impact the amount of time you spend on these bedrooms.
The checklist for all Bedrooms (including the pet's room)
Most bedrooms have hard wood floors, some have carpet... Before mopping or vacuuming the floor however, you must sort and recycle and keep what you need from the debris on the floor first. Observe the handy picture below. The three box declutter system.
Once you sort the clutter in this system, the floor is debris free. These boxes can sit on your bed just until you finish the main areas of the bedrooms. This system actually also works for the kids bedroom as well.
Then if it is a carpet floor, use the Vax Carpet cleaner to really get rid of the embedded dirt within the fabric fibres of the carpet...
Allow the carpet to dry over an hour, and take a tea and biscuit break, and work the surfaces and mirrors of the bedroom. For these jobs use Mr Sheen all-purpose wipes to clean up the vanity table, the mirrors and the bed headboard/footboard if it is made of wood.
Also while the carpet dries, sort the clutter so that you know which box of clutter can be sorted into keep, storage or donation.... Or dump... And after doing this, using Windolene does the trick for freshening up the windows of the master bedroom, here's the product.
Because it's active ingredient is vinegar, like I said last time, this product boasts a diamond shine. This also works on mirrors, this vinegar based cleaner is a wonder product.
Use flash all-purpose lemon wipes or spray cleaner to wipe down the bed frame and head and footboards, that freshens the bed up with a crisp lemon fresh scent.
Here is a great hack for reorganising the clothes you own
I have both a wardrobe and a chest of drawers, so I put everyday tops in the middle drawer if the chest of drawers, and organise them into piles according to colour, and sleeve length. The bottom drawers are for trousers and casual style skirts again, one side of the drawer for colours, the other for black trousers and jeans and if there's room in the middle of the drawer, whites. Here's what it would look like.
The topmost draw, is for pyjamas. My trick for the pyjama drawer is to sort them according to season. When reorganising, use what pajamas you have for each season, when a new season rolls in, swap the pyjamas to match the seasons by putting the seasonal PJ's to the opposite side of the drawer on the right. The next season's PJ's in the middle, and and the last season's PJ's to the left. This is not how I put it, but here's how the pyjamas drawer should look like.
I only use a wardrobe for my jackets, jumpers, shoes and formal skirts and dresses. First take all the shoes you don't wear out and keep only the ones you wear and sort them in colour and season. Sort all the jackets by season along with the jumpers on the right for the winter and autumn, in the middle fold the skirts on a skirt hanger and all maxi dresses on the left for spring and summer. This is not what mine looks like but here's how the wardrobe should look like
Now to remake the bed for the master bedroom, just do what you do normally do with the bed after cleaning it down,
1) place the double under sheet on mattress, smoothing out any creases.
2) put on the under pillows protectors and put them on the undersheet.
3) this job normally takes 1 person, but in this case, it's a double sized duvet so this will take this power of 2 to complete. Choose your duvet cover, so it would match the season. Place the duvet cover on the main duvet and set it on top of the first set of pillows.
4) Now for your centrepiece pillows that should match and coordinate with the duvet cover. Place the pillow slips on the top pillows and put them on top of the bottom pillows, on the the edge of the top of the duvet cover.
5) this is an optional addition, but add a fleece throw on the bottom of the bed, folded up in case you need it (if the kids beds are single bunk beds, the bed making will be easier.)
(Tip: Your bedding should change according to season, so use a bedding set that resembles Christmas or the colours of winter in this case.)
This is what the beds should look like. Both the adult bedroom and kids bedroom how the beds look like. Master bedroom
Kids bedroom (girl's bedroom)
This is optional, but here's a small closet space turned into a dog bedroom
Then all the stuff you chose to keep, put back where it once was and and the spray air freshener and open the windows.
This covers all you need to make your home feel more welcoming for Santa Claus. He loves a tidy house.
That's the end of chapter 1
