This room is the nerve center of all family life, and if dirty, how will Santa sit and have his Santa Snacks in a dirty environment? This is where the gifts go under the tree. To make it safe for Santa, and all of the family living in the house too, a deep cleaning routine should be encouraged as well.

Step 1) lamps and overhead light shades

Remember in the deep cleaning of the bathroom section? This technique to Cleaning dust and webs from lampshades is the same but I'll put the picture from Joyful Homemaking below... After showing you a video of how to clean lampshades and overhead light shades. Watch and take notes and learn from the video.

Here's a picture of the cleaning of a lampshade. Be sure all lights and lamps are off for the job to be done.

Once the lampshades are taken care of, it's time to dust the fireplace that require a clean.

2) Use a feather duster or dry cloth to do this on the dust on the fireplace. If the fireplace has a glass panelling, use glass cleaner. Glass cleaner like Windolene does the trick for that and the windows and mirrors here.

When the windows and mirrors are clean, here's the results:

In the before picture, look at all the smears and fingerprints, how atrocious! But after cleaning the mirror, look here at the after picture when cleaned with a glass cleaner like Windolene, the mirror now sparkles.

3) Next is the sofas and armchairs.

If Santa Claus wishes to take a break from delivering gifts, he hates sitting on a dirty sofa.

There is a cleaning fluid for cleaning sofa upholstery made of leather. Use Weiman all leather cleaner. (See picture below)

Now look at the before and after pictures for a leather sofa.

In the top picture, the brown leather sofa looks in bad nick, untreated and uncleaned. But when treated and cleaned up, the after picture of the same sofa looks as good as new when treated and conditioned with weiman leather cleaner.

4) carpet cleaning.

You will need the following...

Vax Carpet cleaner and shampoo (soft carpets only.) Once used, allow carpet to dry out over an hour, then when dry...

Carpet spray freshener (when the carpet is dry.) Which is handy if you have pets. To eliminate pet odor.

5) TVs and surfaces

Mr sheen all-purpose screen wipes perfect for the four main sitting room surfaces, perfect for glass, wood, metal and plastic

Flash all-purpose spray cleaner for non-porus surfaces like marble, this is perfect and it gives off the scent of crisp fresh citrus.
