Rue's P.o.v (District Four)

Jessie is dead.
She was killed by Jack Nettle at 10:23 pm the night before the games.
She was declared dead two minutes later at 10:25.

They told Katniss and Peeta first.
Then they told her mentors.
Then Aspen and Eagle.
Then me and Spencer.

They games are going to be delayed because of Jessie's death.

I'm wearing a soft blue dress and black flats.

There's an open casket and I can clearly see how she was killed.

Shot in the head and chest.

Impossible to survive.

"Jessie, please wake up."Spencer sobbed holding Jessie's lifeless hand.

"She's dead."Katniss sobbed her eyes full of tears.

I notice Katniss is clutching a mockingjay pin.

It belonged to Jessie.

My ally and friend.

"I want you to pin it to Jessie."Katniss said handing the pin to Spencer.

Spencer grabs it looking at Jessie's pale face.

He leans in and kisses her head before putting the mockingjay pin on Jessie's jacket.

"Be brave my little mockingjay."Spencer whispers softly.

Jessie is watching us now.
I believe she wouldn't miss this.

"Jessie was many different things, she was a lover, a daughter, an ally, a friend and a mentor."Aspen said clutching a note written with what she would say.

"She was the real mockingjay."Katniss said as she looked towards the open casket.

I can't help myself from crying.

Jessie is dead.

"Jessie was a hero, we will always remember her."I said sobbing.

"I'll never forget my times spent with her."Spencer said.

A few other people spoke then it was time to take the casket outside.

Spencer, Peeta, Eagle and Thresh grab one side.

Johanna, Katniss, Aspen and President Swirl grab the other side.

I spot some of the careers crying I'm shocked.

Who knew the careers had hearts?

We all head outside following the funeral procession.

We stop at the grave and they lower the coffin into the ground.

Each of us close to Jessie got to bury a pile of dirt over the coffin.

We all take are time.

Jessie is really dead and she isn't coming back.

"Remember to always remember the mockingjay."President Swirl said.

I will never forget her.

I promise Jessie.
