One upon a time, there was an ugly unicorn. She was so ugly that no one liked her and her appearance scared all the unicorn colts and fillies. But one day, an Allicorn came into town, the ruler over the whole unicorn village, the most handsome Prince stallion in all of existence. All the females were over him. They wanted him because he was cute, some of them for his wealth. Everyone talked to him non-stop, everyone that is, except the poor ugly unicorn.

     One day the prince stallion was walking by, looking for the coffee shop. He stopped to ask a lady unicorn if she could give him directions.

     "Excuse me, Miss..." He said.

     She turned around, and when he caught a glimpse of her face he froze in fear. Her appearance was repulsive! Never in his life had he seen such an ugly unicorn!

     'Now, now.' He thought to himself. 'It's not the outward appearance that matters, it's what's inside that counts.'

     He took a deep breath and continued. "Would you be so kind as to lead me to the coffee shop?"

     "I wouldn't mind at all, your majesty." She said with a bow.

     So she led him to the coffee shop. Once there, the prince felt that he should invite her to sit with him. He didn't know why, but he felt he should, and so he did. The two talked over their coffee about things such as books, food, and drinks. This continued for three months. Every morning the two went out for coffee and talked. The Prince fell in love with her, and she with him.

     "I have a question." The Ugly Unicorn said.

     "Okay." The Prince replied. "What is it?"

     "Why did you invite me to go out for coffee every morning? I'm far from beautiful. You could've just ignored me like all the other stallions."

     "I can't explain why, but I felt that I should. And I'm glad I did. Everyone else may find you repulsive, but you are beautiful to me."

      She lowered her head and blushed. "Thank you."

     The stallion walked over to her side and bowed himself on one knee. There was a ring around his horn. "Will you marry me?"

     "Yes, I will marry you!"

     On the day of the wedding, every unicorn, pegasus, and allicorn showed up, for the prince, of course. When the ugly unicorn and allicorn kissed, a miracle happened. The Ugly Unicorn went from moss green to snow white, and she sprouted sparkling wings.

     "It was a test." She said. "I knew that if I were this beautiful all the stallions would fall for me, but if I were ugly, then only my true love would marry me and break the spell."

     And the two lived happily ever after.
