Chapter 4: Cursed Gear

We finally arrived, a dark room lit by torches, creating an ominous feeling about the room. Large statues stood tall with weapons in front of them and odd detailed circles on the ground before them. I glanced over to Guren, my eyes asking for an answer. Guren noticed my look and walked out in front of us all, "Alright, so, these items displayed before you are cursed gear. Within these cursed weapons are demons that will try to possess you by using your memories against you. Don't let them. I'm too tired to give a full explanation, but, basically, choose a weapon you like and don't let the demon possess you, if it does, then we'll have no choice but to eliminate you." All of our eyes widened in shock and Yoichi stuttered, "Wh-what? You're joking right? Trying to scare us so that we won't take the weapons?" Guren shook his head, "no, I'm being serious, if your demon possesses you, that's it, you're done. There's no way you could fight it. We'd have to resort to killing you." I put a gentle hand on Yoichi's shoulder, "It's fine, nothing like that will happen" I said softly and he smiled, "Thanks (Y/N), I hope you're right." I smiled confidently, "Of course I'm right, we're all strong, nothing will happen to us." He nodded and we all walked off to examine the weapons resting upon the pillars before the statues. Kimizuki had already found his weapon, along with Yoichi and they held them in their hands, laying upon the ground. I suddenly felt worried and I didn't realize that my hand had been shaking. Yu walked over to me and looked to my hand, taking it gently in his, "Hey, it'll be alright. Like you said, we're strong, nothing will happen." I nodded softly and blushed a bit at his holding my hand. He let go of my hand and walked off, going over to a sword, glancing to me and then took hold of the weapon, he then passed out and I began to worry more, he said he'd always be there for me, he can't leave me, not now, please... I put my face in my hands and sighed, rubbing my cheeks a bit and tried to get a hold of myself, I couldn't panic, not now.

Guren looked to me and rose a brow, "What is it (Y/N)? Why haven't you chosen yet? Is something bothering you?" I shook my head, "No Lieutenant Guren, everything is fine, I can handle this, just thinking is all." "Ah, I see, about your boyfriend? Yuichiro?" I blushed darkly, "H-he's not my b-boyf-friend!" was all I was able to stutter. I then walked off and glanced around at the weapons. My eyes then fell upon a wonderfully crafted sword. The hilt of the sword had a decorative shape, looking like it had taken on an ax shape. The sleeve of the sword was a pure black with a green tassel on it, laying next to the sword, the blade was long, about the length from the far side of one's chest to their fingertips. The blade laid out across the pedestal, it's cover next to it, showing off the blade. I walked over and picked up the blade by its hilt and suddenly blacked out.

I soon awoke, though, I was in the middle of Krul's quarters. I glanced around to notice that everyone was gone, the room remained empty. Soon, a figure emerged from the shadows before me, it was none other than Crowley. I ran over to my father figure with a happy smile on my face, my ten year old self, smiling happily as if there wasn't a care in the world.I went to hug him, when he abruptly grabbed me by my throat and slammed me into the ground, the tile creaking beneath me. I felt hot tears spring to my eyes, but I didn't dare let them fall. He leaned down and sank his fangs into my neck. I gasped in pain, my eyes widening and all of a sudden I blacked out again. This time, I awoke in the school, as I ran right into Yu. He looked to me angrily, his beautiful emeralds showed fury instead of the calmness of before. I backed up a bit in fear of his anger as he swung his fist at me and it collided with my face, causing me to black out again. This time, I awoke in my old bedroom from before, the room Crowley had prepared for me when I came to live with him in the queen's home. Laying on my bed, face and neck still throbbing in pain, I sat up and glanced around, a knock coming from the door. I crossed the room and opened the door to see two blue eyes staring upon me. I realized it was Mika, the one who was to be my friend. Before I realized it I heard a loud bang from outside. Mika grabbed my wrist and looked to me, his eyes staring into my own, "The humans are coming to steal you away, we must go somewhere safe" he declared. I looked to him in confusion, "How do they know about me?" I asked. He tugged me and ran while explaining, "They have come for the children taken here, they are trying to get them all back and away from the vampires. We must go, I can't let them take you." I looked to him, confusion in my eyes, "Why do they need us?" Mika stopped and mumbled, "The Seraph of the End." I looked to his face, realizing that he had pain written in his expression, "Mika?" I asked softly. He squeezed my hand softly, "Yu, they took him and now I can't let them take the only other thing i have left. Run away with me." I was shocked by what he had said, but found myself nodding in agreement. He led me off and we ran outside, weaving through battlings humans and vampires until it happened. Mika had stopped, having to battle one man in order to protect me, and that's when I was knocked out and awoke in the human world. I glanced around the room as I had done before, but this time, Guren stood in my room, looking to me as if I were a rodent. I sank back in my bed and pulled the covers to my chin. He walked over and before I knew it, he drew his sword and pointed it to my chest, "Bend to my will human, you will break" and that was when pain erupted throughout my entire being as he had impaled me with his sword and I shut my eyes tightly.

When I opened my eyes I was in the alleyways of the castle. But instead of seeing Guren, who had stabbed me, it was MIka. I felt tears pierce my eyes as I looked up at him, my breathing slowing. He pulled the sword from my body and bent down and picked me up, whispering in my ear, "It is time for you to break and your body to be mine, just give in and break. You know you can't go on any farther, so give up. All you had ever known has crumbled around you, and now the only people you thought you could trust have broken you." I looked to him, my eyes gazing into his, but this time, his blue eyes weren't blue as I had remembered, they were crimson red, just as a vampires would be. He put his hand to me to take, "Just take my hand and I'll end all of this suffering." I smiled softly, even though I hurt all over I was still able to shake my head and reply, "Nice try, but Mika's eyes aren't red, you're not Mika. Whoever you are, don't you dare try to use the ones I care about as ways to break me!" I bellowed and soon awoke in a room that was stark white as far as the eye could see.

I glanced around, only to find a little ways away from me, was a young boy with blue and black hair. His eyes were a crimson red and he was draped in black and white clothing. A pair of white pants that flailed toward the bottom with black streaks down them. He had no shoes on, but wore a white tank top with black under sleeves, looking as if it were layered. I got up from where I was laying and stood to my feet, not taking my eyes from the boy before me. He smiled and leaned against the sword next to him, it being the same one I had previously picked up, "Alright human, you've got me on your side. You were able to see through all of my illusions and tests. I will help you by lending you my power. My name is Akazuki. Any time you need my help, just call out my name. I like your strength. If you slip up though, I will possess you." I nodded in understanding and before I knew it, I was waking up once again, this time, on the ground, sword clutched in my right hand. The first face I was met with was Yu's worried eyes locked upon me as I sat up. I was soon brought into a tight hug by him, startling me a bit from the sudden gesture, but soon hugging back. Kimizuki chuckled, "Lover boy here has been worried sick about you." I blushed and looked to him as Yu pushed me away, his face red, "Don't call me that! I was worried, yes, but so were the rest of you!" he shouted and everyone broke into playful laughter. I found myself smiling softly as my eyes fell upon Yu's bright red cheeks and smiling face, taking in his features. He made my chest feel funny every time I looked to him. This was what it was like, to be happy.
