Part 71

Hey, my wonderful readers! I know many of you are quite disappointed in me because I announced in the last chapter that in September i will finish this story and then i went MIA and all of you were left hanging by the thread.

But in the past few months, I was quite busy in my personal life. I became a part of a research project which is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, those who know will surely be happy for me. Yay!! That research was regarding depression in students during the covid pandemic and the statistics and data were chilling that our team find out. Then I decided to change house.  The thing doesn't end here, I had another thesis to work on too. It was time-consuming. I was so busy in my personal life that I had to take a break from Wattpad as a writer and well from the ambassador duties.

I then had exams for my masters which got postponed due to another wave of corona and now they are scheduled to be held again. I am once again gotten immersed in my books. Plus I got super busy at my job.

After all this time I got free for a week, so I decided to write and will write again when I will be free. This time hopefully I will get the free time soon and the last two chapters will be over by April.

END of my rant and now you can enjoy the story. Happy reading!!!

Valerie in her wolf form was standing on top of the hill looking carefully at the mansion down below. She was contemplating her chances of survival which were few. She wanted her sister more than anything; even she has to face death. But she knew she could not trust Randall and giving herself up for the life of her sister was not a guarantee for her safety. She knew many werewolf lives are at stake. She knew Randall was a threat to the supernatural community.

For a moment she felt proud of herself for infiltrating the human government and failing Randall's plan. She was lucky she was not forced to leave her country her home like Cayden.

"How much time it will take for Russian vampires to come here to Alaska?" She thought. "Not much." She thought again. "What if she just informs her officials before single-handedly attacking Randall. The Vampires with their speed will be here in an hour or so. After all, she was in Alaska and the Russian border was just a few kilometers from here." She sighed. She just wanted to save lives, lives of many fathers and mothers. Lives of many brothers and sisters. She knew it will be a suicide mission and if she died she will leave her people vulnerable.

She took a one last longing look and decided to retreat back. She was about to turn around when she saw something. It was Kirill, one of the vampires from the council. She was confused by his presence. Was the council double-crossing them? Did Dmitri and Alexei know about it?

She saw another shadow approaching him, it was Mark. She gasped. Did she smell betrayal? She was unable to listen to anything, so, she decided to turn around and talk about it with the vampire duo. She sprinted in her wolf form and reached her pack in record time.

"Alpha is here." Someone shouted. Before she could understand anything, she felt a whisk of air and found two very angry-looking vampires standing in front of you.

"I am glad you didn't do anything stupid." Dmitri smiled.

"How were you so sure, I won't do anything stupid?" Valerie asked him because she knew what he was implying.

"We trust you and our training." Dmitri smiled and replied.

"I was about to though," Valerie replied tauntingly

"But you didn't," Dmitri replied

Valerie smiled and then became serious all of a sudden. "I saw Kirill at Randall's camp talking to Mark."

Alexei interjected before Dmitri could answer. "Oh don't worry about it. He went there himself as a spy for us. He is trying to measure the situation and how much more of a force we need."

"But you didn't tell me," Valerie asked.

"It was just last minute," Alexei replied nonchalantly. Valerie looked towards him in disbelief. "What! Oh yes! There's more. The vampires and the council are here too."

"And I was about to commit suicide." She replied in disbelief. "You could have at least informed me."

"We could have." Alexei started. "But you decided to sprint off. You need anger management classes. I can enroll you in a few if you survived the war."

Valerie's mouth was agape. "The audacity!" She exclaimed.

Alexei rolled his eyes. "She is a drama." He said and walked away. "Do come to the meeting though which is about to start in ten minutes," he yelled from a distance.

"Why the sass?" She asked Dmitri.

"Sass is his nickname. You should know that by now." Dmitri replied. "Now come on we need a strategy to win this damn war."

Valerie chuckled and walked with him.

When Valerie reached the hall she found everyone gathered at the table. She noticed that Scarlett was also sitting in a wheelchair with a whole lot of pipes coming out of her body.

"Shouldn't she be resting?" She asked Cayden looking towards him.

"She insisted." He replied. Valerie nodded and then looked towards everyone in the room. She noticed a few members of the vampire council as well sitting there. She saw Maxim the head of the council whom she always found intimidating and scary and averted her eyes to look towards rest. There was Ivan, Danila, and Andrei sitting all serious and looking pale, dead just like they were supposed to be.

She took a deep breath and cleared her throat to ask "So, how are we supposed to do this?"

Time flew by in planning the strategy to defeat Randall. The sun was setting down and everyone looked tired.

"So we are attacking them tomorrow evening?" Cayden asked.

"It's for the best. We must attack them instead of waiting for them to attack us." Maxim replied. They all went over the plan again and discuss the minutest of details. Autumn explained about all the spells that could help them and the use of dark magic in the battle. She explained how her mother is powerful and uses dark magic and how she can be a major problem on the battlefield. She explained that her mother has almost lost her soul to the darkness and the magic that comes with it is powerful and difficult to counterattack.

"How can we defeat her then?" Valerie asked.

"Flora and April were researching on it and they have concluded that if I drink vampire blood which is enchanted by some magic spells, I might get a chance to defeat my mother."

"So what's the problem? There are plenty of vampires present here." Cayden stated the fact.

"That's where the trick lies," Autumn explained. "That vampire must have killed or murdered their one true love or they must have killed their offspring. Such type of killing requires a certain amount of darkness in them and that dark energy could help me fight my mother."

"You have that sort of vampire present right here at the moment. Don't you worry," Alexei chipped in

"It is not the time for your quirkiness, Alexei." Valerie reprimanded him.

"Well, I was just stating the fact." He replied. Everyone was looking towards him in disbelief. "Oh come on, it's not me. You all really think low of me. I am really very disappointed and sad." He rubbed the faked tear from his eyes. Valerie rolled her eyes at his antics and Dmitri scoffed and laughed simultaneously. But he continued without paying any attention to them.

"Danila here is guilty of that crime. She had killed her one true love."

Everyone looked towards her. "Oh please you know he was a scumbag and got what he deserved. Sure I cried for him and was vulnerable for years but he would have killed me if I wouldn't have. That scumbag of a vampire hunter. I pray he rot in hell."

"Will her blood help?" Jason asked.

"It will. If she truly had loved him." Autumn replied.

"I did. But his love was a betrayal." She replied. "Doesn't matter," Autumn explained. "What is important is your feelings, not his. I would like your blood if you would like to."

"Sure, you can have it. Just don't drain me out much. I have some plans with Alexei tonight which needs strength."

Valerie shuddered and felt disgusted at that. Alexie snorted at her reaction and Valerie rolled her eyes.

It was late at night when they all left for their respective abodes except Cayden.

"Aren't you going? It's quite late." Valerie asked.

"I will. I just wish to talk to you." Cayden replied. Valerie nodded for him to continue. "Anything can happen tomorrow." He said while walking close to her. He took her hands in his and said. "I just want you to know that I love you and I will always love you."

Valerie sighed. "I wanted to talk to you too. But I thought I will do it after the battle."

"What is it?" He asked.

She looked straight into his eyes and said. "I am ten days late." He didn't understand what she was implying. She took a deep breath and tried again. "My periods, they are late and I think I am pregnant."

A smile crept on Cayden's face. "Have you taken the test?"

"No." She replied. "and I won't take it because it will create a distraction for me in the battle."

"I understand. Then we will both take it after the battle is over and we have won."

Valerie smiled. "I like how optimistic you are."

"Is there any other choice for us?" He asked and Valerie chuckled and shook her head.

He went down on one knee while holding her hands and looked up into her eyes. "I don't have a ring but I want to know, will you make me the luckiest man by accepting my proposal."

"Are you asking this because I might be pregnant?"

"Valerie!" Cayden said in frustration. "I am sorry, I am sorry. You know me and how I am." Valerie replied.

"I do and now I am contemplating my decision." He said jokingly.

"But I am accepting your proposal and you can't back down now," Valerie replied

"I won't dream of backing now. I promise once this battle is over I will buy you a big precious rock. A rare, just like you."

Valerie smiled and bend down in front of him to take him in for a long passionate kiss.

"Let us win tomorrow for the future," Cayden said placing his hands on Valerie's stomach.

"If something happened..." Valerie started but Cayden shushed her. "We don't even know yet whether or not you are pregnant. The delay can be due to excess stress. We haven't taken the test and just like you said this is not the time."

Valerie nodded and planted a soft kiss on his lips. "We have come quite far in our relationship. Be it our stubbornness, nonsensical bickering, or our fight of proving another one to be more strong."

"Are you sure about that?" He asked.

"To be honest, no I am not." She replied while laughing and Cayden joined her.

"Will you stay tonight?" she asked

"You know I want to but I will have to brief my soldiers and I will be needed in my pack for assuring them."

"I understand." She replied. "I have to up in a few hours and get ready with a plan." She sighed. "So I guess I will see you after the battle then."

"After the battle." He replied and kissed her with passion and love.

So just two to three chapters are left and then we will conclude this saga. I hope you enjoyed it. Thanks for being patient with me. Lots of love. Stay healthy and stay safe.

Till next time!!!
