Part 64

Trigger warning : In the second half of the chapter there is violence. Readers discretion is adviced.

"You are not seriously thinking of doing it?" Ryder asked panicked, after he and Cayden finished reading the letter given to them by Randall.

"I am."

"What!" Ryder exclaimed.

Cayden had a determination in his eyes when he said those words. "I won't let anything happen to Scarlett."

"You must be kidding?" Ryder asked. Cayden did not say anything and left the premises of his office. Ryder was left astounded by his determination and without any further thoughts he followed him to the pack clinic.

Both Cayden and Ryder were surprised to see that Valerie was still present there. Before Cayden could say anything Valerie said. "I think Autumn and Flora have come up with something that can help us know what had happened with Scarlett in the hunter's camp."

Cayden smiled like a cheshire cat and asked enthusiastically. "Whatever is it, I am ready to try."

"But there is something you should know before making any decision." Valerie said. Cayden looked towards her in question. Valerie looked towards Autumn and gestured her to explain the process. Autumn who was standing in the corner listening to the two alphas talking walked towards them.

"This is a complicated magic which will drain my energy which is not actually a problem because Flora and April agreed to help me but Scarlet's life force is very weak and performing magic on her can cause some serious damage to her." Autumn took a pause to judge Cayden's reaction but when she was not able to read him she continued. "But if you agree we can proceed and we will do everything that we can to save Scarlett."

Valerie was looking towards Cayden and she was expecting a negative answer but to her surprise Cayden nodded his head and gave the permission to proceed with it.

"Are you sure?" Valerie asked flabbergasted, she could not believe her ears.

"Yes." Cayden replied. "And if you have time I would like to talk with you in somewhere private. Your officers can accompany you, if you want. It is the matter that concerns your pack."

Valerie nodded and followed Cayden to his pack office along with Jason and Dominic. When they reached the insides of the office, Cayden asked Ryder to close the door. He motioned everyone to take a seat. When everyone was seated he took a deep breath before speaking. "I got a written message from Randall yesterday night."

"And?" Valerie coaxed. Cayden took out the letter and gave it to Valerie. She took the letter from him and started reading. A gasp left her mouth when she was finished reading it.

"I will not agree to this" She replied plain and square.

"You don't understand." Cayden said. "We are just sending your brother as a distraction. I will not let anything happen to him. When he will see that I have agreed to give your brother he will tell me everything and we will not move forward with the exchange."

"No, you don't understand. I will not make my brother a scapegoat for this. Randall wants my family dead. He can't find my mother and sister so he is targeting my brother and I am surprised you agreed to it. Do you think he will be naïve enough to tell you the cure for the Scarlett before getting Kevin in person? He is Randall if you don't know. He is the masters of evil."

"I am not able to follow what is happening here." Dominic asked frustrated.

"Alpha Cayden here wants to give my brother to Randall in order to save his dearest Scarlett."

"He will be just used as bait; we are not actually giving away him." Cayden said in frustration.

"I am not playing such games. You know how he is. He will be prepared for us. He wants us to think that we have upper hand in this situation but in reality it won't be the case. I am not allowing you to do it. I think we have overstayed our stay. We all will be leaving after Autumn performs the magic" She was silent for a moment before continuing further. "Cayden your apology doesn't matter if you continue to commit the same mistakes again and again. At one point you were ready to kill Scarlett and now you want to sacrifice my brother for her wellbeing."

Cayden knew what he was asking will affect their relationship drastically. They were already threading on fine thread and asking Valerie to do it will act as last nail in the coffin but he was blinded by his love for Scarlett and he knew it well. On the other hand he was not ready to lose Valerie. He loved her. He could not imagine a life without her. Her words pierced his heart. He wanted to save Scarlett because she went in the enemy's territory because of him. He knew she it did it for redemption but somehow he felt that he was responsible for whatever happened to her.

He felt a comforting hand on his shoulder and he immediately knew whom it belonged to. He looked towards the owner and asked. "Why am I such a bad mate?"

Valerie sighed "You are not responsible for what happened to Scarlett. I know you feel that way but it was her own decision. And you are not a bad mate but when it comes to your loved ones you just let your emotions overpower your brain."

"You are very mature and understanding. Sometimes I feel like I don't even deserve you." Cayden replied dejected.

Valerie did not reply because somewhere deep she knew he was right. She was saved by a knock on the door. Jason opened the door to find Autumn standing on the other side.

"We are ready." She declared. Valerie nodded and she gestured her officers to follow. They reached the clinic and when they entered Scarlett's room they found a weird shape drawn around her bed which was lit by lots of candles and weird sort of moon stones were also placed. They all were awestruck with the setting.

"Wow this is something." Cayden said entering the room.

"I am asking for the permission for one last time because once the procedure started we won't be able to stop." Autumn asked

"You have my permission." Cayden replied.

"Okay." Autumn nodded.

Autumn, Flora and April stood around Scarlett's bed. Autumn stood at the foot end, Flora stood on the left side and April on the right side of the bed. The trio started enchanting some spells that caused a bright light to appear.

The spectators were not able to tolerate the light and their eyes shut down on their own. Then the next second the light was out and strong winds started flowing, blowing all candles out. Scarlett started shaking, Cayden wanted to intervene but he knew it was all magic's doing. When the wind stopped blowing there was darkness everywhere. Then some sort of firework started for few seconds affecting their visions once again. Next second suddenly Scarlett was sitting on the bed, her eyes were still closed. It looked like she was in some kind of trance.

The trio stopped enchanting. Autumn looked towards Cayden and said. "You have twenty minutes. In these twenty minutes you can ask her anything. But remember whatever you will ask her, she will be living those moments again. And if those moments become unbearable to her, she may not be able to heal from her injuries because her life force will weaken further."

Cayden nodded. "I am ready to take that risk because I want to know what happened to her."

"Then go ahead." Autumn said.

Cayden walked near the bed where Scarlett was sitting and asked. "What happened to you in the camp and who did this to you?"

Scarlett took Cayden's hand in hers and a light emitted from the union of their hands. It seemed to others like he was sleeping while standing but Cayden was living Scarlett's memories in his head.

"Cayden." He heard Scarlett calling him. He looked here and there but could not find her. "Cayden" He heard his name again. He looked around and saw Scarlett standing far away. She gestured him to follow her which Cayden did. After walking few moments in nothingness he came face to face with Scarlett herself who was walking in the corridors of the campsite of hunters. They came face to face but it seemed that she was not looking at him. In the next moment she walked through him like he was invisible that made him realise that he was living Scarlett's memory.

"What are you doing here?" A tall man asked her. Upon looking closer Cayden saw that he was well built with brown eyes and dark brown curly hair. He was muscular and from the looks of it he looked like a werewolf but Cayden was not able to smell the scent on him. He thought maybe he had masked his body fragrance.

"What are you doing here?" Scarlett retaliated back.

"They will kill you. They know you are an imposter and have betrayed them."

"It doesn't matter I knew I will meet this fate sooner or later. I knew my risks I just hope the information reaches Cayden soon. Can you help me in that?" Scarlett asked.

"You know I can't risk loosing my cover. They haven't yet found that I am a werewolf and I can fulfil my mission. Helping you will be putting my mission in jeopardy."

"I am asking you as my mate. Surely you can help your mate for once." Scarlett pleaded.

A gasp left Cayden and he felt a sudden fury. He wanted to strangulate him for rejecting scarlett for a human girl.

"They killed the love of my life Scarlett. You know how it is to love. You loved Cayden. I loved Lilly. They killed her brutally for marrying a werewolf. She was an innocent human. I need to take revenge for her. I need to kill them." Mark replied.

There were unshed tears in her eyes. "Then I will have to do what I am about to do."

They heard approaching footsteps. Cayden looked towards in the direction of the approaching threat. He wanted to protect Scarlett so bad but he knew he was in her memories and he can't do anything.

"Do you have a pen and a paper?" Scarlett asked Mark.

"Yes" He replied and gave her the pen and a parking ticket that he had in his pocket for so long.

Scarlett wrote teenagers on it and crushed it in her hands and balled her hands.

"They won't understand it." Mark said.

"They must. They need to know that these hunters are threatening teenagers and their family. They are using them to get information of the packs and they will help them in the war."

Cayden looked in disbelief towards her. Before Scarlett could say anything the hunters approached her and Mark.

"What are you doing with the traitor Mark?" One of the hunters asked.

"Who is traitor? I don't know anything about it." Mark replied acting innocent.

"She is. She is a werewolf." The hunter said. They pulled her and she very slowly whispered which only the ears of a werewolf could hear.

"I want you to kill me Mark. I would rather die by the hands of my mate rather than these bastards. Please do me this favor."

The hunters dragged her towards the ground and Cayden followed them. Upon reaching there Cayden saw a very angry Randall standing there. His aura was dark, malicious and dangerous.

"How dare you try to fool me, you filthy little bitch." Randall yelled once Scarlett was thrown on the ground by the hunters

"You dare betray me?" Randall yelled.

He was about to hit her when Mark stopped him and said. "Let me do the dirty work for you my master."

He picked her up and punched her in the gut causing Scarlett to groan. "I am sorry." He whispered.

He then punched her square on the face causing her lip to burst open. Randall pulled her towards himself and slapped her on the face.

Cayden was standing there watching the scene getting unfolded. Unshed tears of agony were seen in his eyes.

Randall twisted her arm and then with a forceful punch broke it. She doubled in pain. He then pulled her up by her hairs and punched her in the gut causing blood to sputter out of her mouth. He kicked her in the shin and then on the back of the knee breaking her left leg.

He gestured his witch something. She came forward and started reciting some spells. Scarlett started writhing in pain and a word Revenge started engraving on her arm. Azazel continue to enchant spell and

Scarlett was continually writhing in pain and Mark was feeling helpless for his mate.

"The bitch should know what happens when one betrays Randall." Randall snarled. "Keep her alive yet make her lifeless. Her alpha should repent every day he decided to send her spy on me."

Azazel nodded and she closed her eye and started reciting something in her mouth. Scarlett became suddenly rigid and then she yelled in a painful scream that pierced Cayden's and Mark's heart.

Valerie and rest were watching Cayden who was sobbing and Scarlett started yelling and sobbing too.

"I think the memories are getting too much for her." Flora said. "We must break the connection."

Autumn nodded and Flora took Cayden's hand pulled it out of the grip of Scarlett's.

"We will have to find a werewolf named Mark asap." Cayden said in urgency and everyone looked towards him in confusion.
