Valerie was lying next to Cayden after her intense sexual escapade. She stood up and started putting on her clothes. She looked back towards Cayden who was lying on the sofa in her office in a complete bliss. She tucked her shirt inside her jeans and took a deep breath. She knew what she was about to say will destroy the harmony of this situation and maybe will ruin everything. But talking and sorting the elephant in the room was the necessity for the situation and for her pack. So she pursed her lips, gathered all the strength and said very clearly.

"I want Scarlett, Cayden. What we did just minute ago showed my weakness. I love you and respect you as my mate but if you can't punish Scarlett or handle her situation then we need to seriously discuss our relationship. She tried to kill your mate directly or indirectly. I want her punished. If you can't do it for whatever petty reason, then I am sorry I won't be able to forgive you and as an alpha I will have to sever all the ties with your pack for betraying us."

She looked back and found him completely dressed with a frown on his forehead. He was running a frustrated hand in his hair. She knew what excuses he will provide to avoid the situation. To intensify the effect she further quoted. "I think you don't actually love me. It is just the mate bond and your wolf's emotions that is causing all this attraction."

Cayden suddenly looked towards her in bewilderment and replied with all the confidence  "You are wrong. I love you with all my heart" He was up and standing in front of her. "Don't ever doubt my feelings."

"Why won't I?" Valerie asked while maintaining a distance because his aura was calling her in. "Scarlett tried to harm your mate but all you did was nothing and on top you are thinking about techniques and ways to save her."

"She is my best friend." Cayden yelled.

"And she betrayed not only me but you too. Believe the fact or not. And yelling won't justify your wrong decisions."

"I need time." He ran a frustrated hand in his hair and turned his back towards her.

Valerie sighed. "Then I am afraid you are not welcome here. All ties are severed and our help will be withdrawn." 

He turned around to look at her. "I was very much welcomed by your body when I was fucking you." He spat with so much fire in his eyes.

Valerie slapped him harsh and hard. "You may leave." She yelled ferociously. Blowing anger could be seen in her eyes. Cayden understood what he said was unforgivable. He opened his mouth to apologize but Valerie turned her back. He sighed and left. He knew he has crossed so many lines. He cursed himself and walked out of Valerie's office defeated.

Once Cayden left, Valerie morphed into her wolf and ran out towards the forest and did not return till dawn next day. When she entered the pack boundary she saw her head warrior barking orders to the soldiers to find their alpha and an anxious Jason pacing and talking very fast on the phone.

She howled to gain their attention and everyone looked towards her in relief. Jason ran inside and brought some clothes. A sobbing Jennifer ran out of the pack house with Jason. As soon as Valerie changed back in her human form, Jennifer engulfed her in a tight embrace.

"You gave us a scare." Jennifer complained. Valerie patted her back to calm her down. Once Jennifer left her she spoke. " I am alright mother."

"Alpha." Dominic bowed and Valerie acknowledged him  "We were under the impression that you were with alpha Cayden but when we checked upon you at around 3 o'clock we couldn't find you in your office. So we called alpha Cayden and he said that he left the pack house at eleven that night. He also got worried and started searching about you but couldn't find you. We couldn't contact you in any way, so we got worried."

"I was out strolling in my beast form to clear my head." Valerie replied. "But why were you all panicking. It's not like I have gone out for the first time without informing anyone."

Jason who was just standing idly spoke. "The hunters are patrolling the outer area of both packs. They are planning to attack us. Autumn's spells are helping us to keep them out. They are trying to invade the Alaskan boundaries before attacking rest of the United States."

Valerie nodded and started walking towards the pack house as if nothing was wrong.

"She is home." Jason called Cayden to inform him about her whereabouts.

Valerie looked back towards Jason in anguish. She snatched his phone and disconnected the call. "No need to inform him. We are no longer in ally with that pack. The alpha of that pack has not handed us the traitor and neither they want to. Inform everyone that we are not in ally with Mystic Moon. And I don't want all of you running towards him when I am missing. Discuss everything with Alex. Make strategy with him. He is your commanding alpha after me, not Cayden."

Jason nodded and Dominic smirked as if taunting him. Once she left Dominic muttered in a low voice. "I told you so." 

Before Jason could reply he was gone.

That evening Valerie was talking with Genesis and learning all about her daily routine when suddenly the battle horn went off. She  stood up and ready for action.

"Genesis, go into mum's room and stay there. If the condition gets serious make sure to enter the safe house with rest of the non warrior ladies and children"

Genesis nodded and asked. "Are we under attack?" 

"I think so." Valerie replied and ran out to know about the situation. She saw that the warriors that were responsible to protect the inner circle of the pack house were ready and in position.

"What is the situation?" She asked to no one in particular.

"Beta Jason and head warrior Dominic are out at the boundary and fighting along with the warriors. We are attacked by hunters." One of the warriors informed.

"And what is the status?" Valerie asked

"Everything is under control."

"Are you all prepared to protect the pack in the worst vase scenario."

The all shouted a united yes with confidence.

Valerie nodded satisfied and started running towards the pack boundary. She reached there and saw her warriors fighting with the hunters skillfully but she noticed that the hunters were not fighting fair. They were doing everything in their power to fight dirty. This irked her and she too charged in to battle.

Before she could enter the heart of battle, she saw some of her warriors quarreling with Mystic Moon's warrior. She went there and asked about the problem.

"Our alpha wanted to extend his help. He is also coming for the aid." The warrior of the Mystic moon replied.

"Neither you nor your alpha is welcomed here. Stay out of this boundary or I won't discriminate between you and hunters." After warning them she left to charge in to the battle.

She showed no mercy and killed many at times. When the hunters saw the alpha participating in the battle actively some of them took few steps back.

Jason saw that some amongst them were signaling someone at the far end. He was confused for a moment. He could not understand why the hunters were backing away and signaling someone at the far end.

For a moment he thought that they have got afraid with the involvement of Valerie in the battle but the next thing he saw gave him the scare. He saw that some of the hunters were standing with a bow and an arrow at the far end. He gasped when he realized that they were targeting Valerie.

Before he could inform her three arrows were shot from three different directions towards Valerie. He yelled her name and started running towards her.

Valerie heard him yelling but could not understand what he was implying. Jason was blocked by few hunters. He battled them to reach Valerie. But the damage was done as the arrows pierced Valerie.

She shrieked and yelled. Jason yelled a cry of agony and in adrenaline rush killed all the hunters surrounding him. When Dominic understood the situation he ran towards Valerie killing all the hunters in the way.

The hunters when realized that they are losing the battle ground backed away to run. By the time Jason and Dominic reached Valerie they found her lying on the ground motionless and barely breathing with three arrows piercing her body.
