Part 3

The knock on the door notified Valerie about the arrival of the Alpha. She ordered him to enter. As soon as he entered their eyes locked and a gasp left her lips similar to that of the Alpha. Cayden was lost in the green orbs of the female sitting behind the desk. Time stopped and he forgot to breathe. Sitting in front of him was his mate. She was beautiful, no, she was more than beautiful. Her hair was cascading down like a fountain and that face was shining bright like the morning sun. She was Helen of Troy and he could go to war for her.

Valerie was also impressed by the specimen standing in front of her. The shirt that he was wearing was tight around his muscular frame. The broadness of shoulder and that chiseled jaw was to die for. The dark locks of his hair and the deep emotions in his eyes reminded her of the whirlwind where she would love to drown. She was impressed and the dilation of her pupils was the proof.

Someone cleared their throat that caused both to come out of the trance they were in. Cayden looked towards the source and found a blond guy standing very close to the female sitting behind the desk. He growled and all of the living inhabitants of the room looked towards him unimpressively.

Valerie cleared her throat that brought Cayden back to reality. She stood up and put her hand out to shake while introducing herself.

"Valerie Jackson, ruling Alpha of the Stalwart Warriors pack.

Cayden took the extended hand to shake and a jolt of electricity was felt by both. Still she was acting nonchalantly which did not sit well with Cayden. Maybe she is behaving like this due to the presence of the government official. He thought and smiled in return.

"Alpha Cayden Smith of Mystic Moon" He replied while grasping her hand firmly.

Once everyone was seated the officer started explaining the situation and why Mystic Moon pack needed the relocation. While officer was explaining Cayden stole some glances towards Valerie and was disappointed to find that she was engrossed in the situation and wasn't affected by the fact that they are mates. He studied her for few minutes before he concentrated back on the situation.

"I hope everything is sorted out and there is no place for confusion" The officer asked after elucidating everything.

When the both Alphas showed no sign of discontentment, the officer bid adieu and left.

After the officer left Valerie picked up the phone and dialed an extension.

"Dominic I need you in the office and tell Mary to prepare a room for Alpha Cayden."

When she placed the phone back Cayden looked intently towards Valerie but she ignored him completely.He was perplexed by the fact that she was acting so calm and collected in front of her mate. That showed the inner strength she possessed and he was impressed. The power radiating from her was like an addiction to him.

"Print the papers of negotiation Jason. Ask the lawyers for help so that then Alpha Cayden can sign the treaty." Her voice brought him back to the present.

Jason was about to leave when Valerie stopped him and asked him to wait. A knock on the door alerted the presence of the third person. Cayden watched carefully as the buff man with tattoos all over his back and arms entered the office. Valerie motioned all to sit and started introducing.

"Alpha Cayden, the man sitting on the right is my Beta Jason and on the left is my Head of the warriors, Dominic."

Cayden assessed the two males present in the room for any possible sort of competition for the affection of the alpha female. He smirked satisfied knowing that he can take down the duo.

"And officers, this is Alpha Cayden who will be sharing our neighboring territory. And he happens to be my mate."

There were collective gasps heard in the room. Cayden was surprised how easily she mentioned the elephant in the room and felt proud of her for handling the situation so tactfully. Dominic and Jason were surprised.

"So you are aware?" He asked with a smirk.

She nodded in response.

"And?" He asked to prompt a reply.

"And nothing" She replied nonchalantly that caused Cayden's temper to rise.

"What do you mean by nothing? Do you plan on rejecting me?" he snarled irritated.

"Calm down Alpha Cayden" Valerie coaxed.

The way his name rolled out of her tongue calmed the beast within the angry alpha. He looked intently towards her and his gaze shifted to her plump lips. How he wanted to ravish them and mark the soft spot on her neck. Valerie cleared her throat to gain his wandering attention.

"I am not going to reject you Cayden. Mates are gifts from the goddess herself and I won't disrespect her by doing such nefarious thing. But what you want is also not possible." Valerie replied in calm and collected voice.

Cayden got up in frustration and started pacing the room. He felt three sets of eyes on him. He looked irately towards her and then asked "Why? You are not going to reject me and you are not showing any interest in accepting me either."

Valerie sighed. "Look the moment I realize that you are my mate, I knew you would expect some things from me that I am not capable of giving. For example leaving my pack and going with you and acting like an obedient and tamed Luna. I can't do that. I have responsibility towards my pack. I was born to lead not act as a domicile female."

Cayden ran his hands in his hair in frustration. "I know you have an elder brother why can't he act as an Alpha. I have read it in your biography"

"Because he can't, he is my half brother and a human. My mother was widowed with a child when my father found her as his mate. My father adopted him gave him his name but technically he can't accept the alpha title. I am next in line; I have another brother Kevin who is two years younger to me and a sister Genesis who is four years younger. Their wolves are not as strong as mine. As you know I am the first born child that makes my wolf  automatically an alpha."

Cayden sighed and then his eyes light up. "We can join our packs." He suggested.

Jason and Dominic looked towards Valerie for an answer with anticipation.

"Who will be the ruling alpha then? If I am not wrong your wolf will not like to back down and you will want to act as the head leader. What about me then. I told you being the first born my wolf will not accept you as her alpha. What about my beta and head warrior? What will happen to them and above all what about my people? You don't know them or understand them like I do. I can't abandon them. Leaving you in charge will be like stabbing them and their trust. I am the Alpha of the Stalwart Warrior and I will remain till next heir is available."

He looked intently towards her and then asked dreadfully. "Is there somebody else? Are you in love with some other male and that is the reason for your reluctance?"

"Wha.. what?" Valerie asked flabbergasted. "I told you the reason and that is it."

"So then I am ready to take another female who will act like my luna" He taunted.

Valerie felt as if someone had punched her in the gut, but she kept her nonchalant demeanor and said "I won't reject you and if that is what you want. You are free to do so as you wish"

Cayden laughed sarcastically and said "You won't accept me and you won't reject me either. So what am I supposed to do? I am not a pendulum alpha Valerie."

Valerie looked towards Jason who smiled painfully towards her and then towards Dominic. Before Valerie could say anything Dominic replied. "Alpha I know I am crossing a line here but I won't accept him my alpha, if perhaps you decide to join the packs I request you to banish me from this pack. I have sworn to serve you and die for you not him. My wolf will not take orders who are not a Jackson by blood."

He bowed in front of her and left the room. Valerie looked towards Cayden and mouthed I told you so.

Cayden sighed. "I am tired and would like to have a good sleep"

Valerie nodded towards Jason who gestured Cayden to follow him. Once they were gone Valerie walked towards the window and looked up towards the moon. She did not repent her decision; her duties will always be her priority. She is alpha by blood and she was born to rule not to be ruled.
