Chapter 24

(Y/N) was rubbing the scar on her chin deep in thought, she had been training with the man, who she now knew as Henry or Mr. Jones but he didn't like formalities, for three months. At first, it was hard, like really hard, but he said it was hard so that he can build up her endurance. But as soon as he put her into fighting and she got hurt he realized, she barely felt any pain, if at all. She physically was wounded and no doubt had sprains and other things but she couldn't feel a thing, although there was a dull soreness or throbbing telling her where it hurt, but nothing.

He was smart though, he didn't take advantage of this. He stayed in the mindset that you were still four, well five now. He pushed her but not to the point where she couldn't handle it although she always said she could. Sophie who always sat in the corner and watched or drew in her book agreed with him. (Y/N) didn't want her going to the playground and getting bullied and their parents just thought these were self-defense classes you took an interest in and the man was kind enough to teach you for free so they were cool with it.

Currently, it was late at night, and (Y/N) had snuck away from her house to come for late-night lessons. Sophie chose to stay home tonight. (Y/N) was on water break for a few minutes and she just rubbed her scar thoughtfully. Some kids had made fun of her for it and although she seemed unfazed to them deep down it hurt, it didn't look very nice on her. Henry walked in and saw this.

"What's wrong?" he said in his rough voice, startling her out of her thoughts.

"Oh, nothing." She said and got up thinking they were going to continue training. Henry gently grabbed her shoulder and bent down onto one knee.

"What's wrong, kid?"

"Nothing just some kids at school, making fun of my chin scar."

"And you believe them?"

"No . . . . well maybe a little."

"Don't."

"What?" She stuttered a little startled at how his face hardened and his voice sounded thousands of years older than he actually was.

"Don't believe them, they don't what they're talking about. Scars a sign of a survivor."

"Really?" (Y/N) asked showing a hint of a smile.

"Yes. Scars mean you went through something tough in the past, survived it, and came back stronger. Never forget that. Scars mean your a survivor and I know you are a warrior. You won't ever stop protecting the people you care about. Your tough (Y/N) and this scar," He pointed at her scar, and a soft smile finally broke out onto his face." is proof." (Y/N)'s heart swelled with happiness at his words, in such a short time they had become so close. Henry pulled her into a hug and she nearly at both her own and his emotions. Pride and happiness were the strongest that were being felt at that moment.

Henry pulled away and stood up. "Come one, kid." He said grabbing his and her coat and heading for the door as he handed her her own.

"Where are we going?" She asked begrudgingly putting on the coat, he always insisted she wore it when it was cold although she never felt cold.

"You'll see."

"Y'know, old man, that's really fucking ominous."

"I'm surprised you know such a big word."

"I'm five not stupid."

"You wanna bet on that?"

"ASSWHOLE!!"

"Quiet. People are trying to sleep."

"It amazes me that you don't care about my choice of language."

"I'm surprised you curse at your age but I don't really care."

"Good."

A few miles later we arrived at a bar. Henry walked in and (Y/N) stayed standing in the doorway, hands stuffed in her pockets. "Aren't you coming?" Henry asked when he noticed she hadn't followed.

"I'm five, I can't go in there."

"So? It's not like you're going to drink."

"Whatever." (Y/N) walked in and Henry led her straight behind the counter and into the back. She was confused but followed. He unlocked a door with a strange key pass and walked down the stairs that were behind it. They kept walking until they reached a door with a person standing in the front. He wore black expensive looking slacks and black dress shoes. He had on a black long sleeve button-up with the sleeves rolled up. He had on a few braided leather bracelets and a necklace with a black string and silver pendant on the end, a falcon. The man had long dark hair, was about six feet tall, and was carrying an iPad. There was a tattoo creeping up the side of his neck that (Y/N) guessed ran down either his side or his chest. From what she could tell it was a very detailed tattoo of a falcon.

"Hey Hen~. I didn't think you were going to show today." The man said in a deep teasing voice, (Y/N) looking him up and down already suspecting something.

"Hello Jack," Henry said emotionlessly looking at the man in front of him. "I wasn't planning to come tonight but I chose that it was time to show my new student the place." Jack's face literally brightened at the thought of a student but when he looked down he was met with the sight of a five-year-old.

"Hen, dude. That's a four-year-old."

"I'm. FIVE, ASSWHOLE!!"

"She's a five-year-old that can curse."

"Um, still a five-year." Jack reminded the two.

"Well, she was the one that wanted to learn how to fight, and trust me she was a born fighter."

"SHE'S FIVE!!" Jack yelled at him and took a step closer.

"(Y/N)." Henry said and immediately a dark glint went into her eye and she kicked Jack. Hard.

"Ow!" And they both proceeded to argue with each other. (Y/N) looked back and forth between the two men and a slow sly smile spread on her face.

" I see what's going on." She grinned at the two who stopped arguing.

"Excuse me?"

"Your dating~!!"

"WHAT!" Henry started berating her for what she said while Jack turned red.

"It must e why you don't have a wife, you're gay!"

"I'm not gay."

"Fine, but if you end up dating don't think I won't say I told you so." Henry scowled but let it go as Jack checked him in and put (Y/N) down as a guest and gave her a pass.

"Why do I need a pass?" (Y/N) asked as they walked down the hallway.

"I'll explain later, but for now" They stopped at a door and he slowly opened the double doors to reveal the most exciting site (Y/N) has ever seen. Her eyes sparkled looking at it.

There was a large wrestling-like ring taking up the center of the room and it had tables of all sizes surrounding it. There was a large wall-sized bar taking up the right wall with a couple bartenders stationed behind it all wearing what Jack was wearing, except they wore a grey scarf either around their neck or waist. The left wall was filled with names carved into the wall and outlined with red paint. But after further inspection (Y/N) realized it was blood. There were both men and women in the room all looking tough and littered with tattoos and scars.

Henry smiled down at the awestruck child with a smile.

"Welcome to the ring."

words

Well here's the next part of her back story, next chapter will be an explanation of how the ring works and stuff and (Y/N) will be meeting someone and then I think that's it. She'll probably get small one here and there through out the rest of the book but as a whole that would be it.

Anyway That's it for this chapter, good night/day!

Bye loves!!
